Stopped in to get a FBI/BCI background check. The office is on the first level of the justice…read morecenter. Plenty of parking up front and around, I'm sure it can get pretty busy though. The sheriffs office is open 24/7 to check in inmates. This comes in handy when you just need a background check, no appointments needed since they're literally open all the time. We were in and out in about 15 minutes. The lady up front was so kind and nice. I was expecting someone harsh who is used to dealing with inmates but we got the complete opposite. I really appreciate her willingness to let us in the back office so my little could play. Underneath a cute aquarium is a stack of sheriffs coloring books, crayons and junior deputy badges. It's so refreshing to have this available for our kids. Hubs was fingerprinted in no time, electronically. The cost was $66 and it takes 6-8 weeks for the results to come back via webcheck. The lady was very thorough and made sure our paperwork had all the right codes and addresses to be sent to.

There was no pressure to purchase anything, simply a light informative meeting that was fun to attend. The meetings are held in the "Depot room " at the library. I enjoyed learning some new interesting facts about the Hawaiian islands, as well as several travel tips. We also had a free prize drawing, and yea Me, I was the lucky winner. I have an aloha bag, with coffee cup, beach towel and flower lei. I'm all set Mark your calendars for June 10th, 2019 at 6:00. The next meeting will be about visiting National Parks.

It's a great library for such a small town. They expanded recently and now have a huge children's…read moresection, more meeting space, and a little cafe. There isn't always a lot going on in Lawrenceburg, and the library does the best they can to remedy that. There is always some sort of event going on here, from educational speakers, reading hours for kids, or even concerts. They also have art shows pretty often with lots of unique stuff. I grew up in the area, and although there really aren't a lot of things I can claim to love about Lawrenceburg, the library has always been a little haven for me. Also, they carry all of my mom's books (quick promo for MIchele Stegman) so I have to give them major props for that!

I have taken place in clean up days that they sponsor, and have seen them do tree planting days as well. They host an annual tree and plant sale in early April where you can purchase trees, and flowers/plants desirable for our pollinators at a super reasonable cost. I obtained my rain barrel from here for cheaper than they are offered anywhere else. I also obtained a compost bin (from a neighboring butler county district). The staff here is amazing! Located right smack dab in the middle of The Taste of Cincinnati festival/Findlay Market, this stunning statue is an art deco beauty that is clean of bird poop and appears well-maintained. It doesn't really mean anything though - it's a sponsored statue "graciously" donated by the P&G headquarters building across the street. It is 48 feet tall with a 6 foot spire on top and was built in 2021. To quote Sister Michael in the tv show, Derry Girls, "I do enjoy a good statue, it has to be said."

The fountain is sponsored by Procter & Gamble, which of course makes sense as it stands right next to their corporate headquarters building. And other than a plaque giving them credit for their "generous support," there is little information. The fountain looks a little Art Deco. I think that this fountain adds so much to the promenade. This past weekend I picked up pastries and coffee from local restaurants and sat on the steps of the fountain to enjoy my breakfast. I had a great view of the promenade, and it was a wonderful start to my weekend!

The Goose Girl Fountain is located at the center of Mainstrasse Village. It signifies the German…read moreheritage of the area, as well as the history of farmers who raised geese in the Covington area. Only having graced the area since 1980, the sculpture was created by a Greek sculptor, Elefcherious Karkadoulias. He was commissioned by either the Covington Mainstrasse Committee or the Northern Kentucky Visitors and Convention Bureau, depending on which source you consult. The sculptor used a method known as lost wax, and worked for over a year and a half to create the bronze fountain, which is 15 feet in height. His daughter was the model for the figure that is based on the Grimm fairy tale, The Goose Girl. While eating outdoors in Mainstrasse, I've seen children leaning over the side of the fountain to torment the fish in the water.

To have an idea of the age of the former Cumminsville Branch Library, now known as the Northside…read moreBranch, all you have to do is look above the doors and see that it says "PVBLIC LIBRARY - CVMMINSVILE BRANCH." Yeah, "u's" that look like "v's." Twenty-six years after the Cumminsville Branch at Hoffner and Spring Grove Avenues (opened in 1879) closed, a new library was opened at Hamilton and Pullan in April 1908, according to its webpage. In 1999, the library temporarily closed and in September of 2000, it reopened as a renovated and remodeled library now known as the Northside Branch. Even with the remodeling and renovation, the inside isn't all that impressive. It is in good shape, but had I not read that it was recently remodeled I would have never really known. It isn't extremely nice, by any means, but it is in good shape and, although relatively small, the Northside Branch does have a lot to offer. There are three square/rectangle-shaped rooms to go along with the main area with the checkout, filled with a lot of books, many DVDs including a "new feature films" section (not entirely new, but most within the last year or two), and there is a large kids section. Like most of the Cincinnati Public Library branches, it does have a book drop, and it has a meeting room too that can seat 30 people. Maybe the most telling thing about the Northside Branch, though, is that they have a cop on duty at all times. There must have been some past incidents because we've all seen police offers at libraries before, but not full-time like this. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the Northside Branch Library, although they did have a lot in the somewhat small (definitely bigger than Clifton Branch, though) library. Although it isn't in the best part of town and isn't the biggest or nicest, it is a branch of the Cincinnati Public Library, so of course it is relatively good (just not great).
