I have been using Central Connecticut Lawn Service for over 10 years. The last several years I have had issues getting the grub control done in a timely manner. I had to call every year because they were not showing up in early July when I started to see the grubs in action. Had all kinds of excuses why they did not come. The technician would over seed the small areas that died but did not learn that he needed to come in early July to prevent the issue. This year, I did not get a chance to call and they did not come as of July 23, 2018 so I called to cancel the service. My lawn has never looked so bad. I always had one of the nicer lawns in the neighborhood. I will have to redo a good portion of the lawn and over seed the rest. The most disturbing part of having to cancel was that they did not care that a long-term customer was leaving. It was a quick phone call to cancel. The person on the other end simply said "Ok you will get a check back for the balance of your service. What should I tell the technician why you are cancelling?" Never mind the technician! What about telling the owners? I believe they are getting to large to be as good as they were in the past. Maybe too many customers for a technician to service as in the past. I will be talking to my neighbors, many that I had recommended Central Connecticut Lawn Service to, to look for another service before the same thing happens to them. read more

After approximately 20-30 years as a customer, Central CT Lawn Service has permanently lost my business. I have used this company for multiple properties and have spent thousands of dollars every year on lawn services, maintenance and upkeep. I have also prepaid services for the year. Then I received a collection notice for $195.41 on one of my accounts. I was unaware that this particular balance was outstanding. What is absolutely unacceptable to me is that after DECADES of doing business with this company and maintaining multiple accounts, apparently nobody thought a longtime customer was worth a phone call before turning $195 over to a collection agency. Think about that: 20-30 years of customer loyalty and thousands of dollars in annual business, and this is how they chose to handle a $195 billing issue. If I legitimately owe $195, I'll pay it. This was never about my ability or willingness to pay a bill. It's about how you treat a longtime customer. Their slogan is "Big enough to do it right, small enough to care." My experience certainly doesn't feel like the "small enough to care" part. As a direct result of how this was handled, I am terminating Central CT Lawn Service at every one of my properties. I will also be requesting an accounting and refund of all prepaid services that have not yet been performed. Companies spend enormous amounts of money trying to earn loyal customers. Central CT Lawn Service managed to lose one who had been with them for decades over the handling of a $195 balance. After all these years, I never expected to be writing this review. I have a front yard full of bare spots and weeds. Really only weeds growing. This year I decided to not use them, as their results were very disappointing year after year. This year, they never called, emailed or sent snail mail-which they have done every year, to get my business. But, they showed up unannounced and put down treatment. I had them a few years and they WERE good (except or controlling crab grass and stopping spread. 2024 year was the worst lawn in the area. I have had Central Ct Lawn service for several years. This year (2020) i had asked the technicians to take a look at the damage on the lawn he said that the damage was caused by drought. I know that it was an extremely dry summer, however i have a lawn irragation an water the lawn 5 days a week. I then had them aerate the lawn, and overseed. After 4 weeks there was no new grass. I ask the technician to stop by and he never showed up. My lawn is nothing but dead patches, and dirt. I find that the technicians was very rude an not easy to deal with. 'm not even sure where to start but I'll start by saying after my experience today with Matt I'd rather have dirt and weeds in my yard than deal with this company another day. I have been with them since 2018 when they took over the account of Turf Master. First few years were great. Had one complaint in 2018 which Matt so rudely reminded me of today when he gave me a tongue lashing and said we should part ways after I asked two questions about service. After receiving my first call since March about a visit for Tic and Flea control I had asked for a call because I had not seen or heard from anyone in over two months. A few minutes passed and I received a call from Matt. I think i maybe said two sentences about why I had not heard from them and was considering another service and then he started giving me sh!t! I could not get a word in at all. At one point I asked for his manager or the owner to which he replied "he's just going to give it back to me and tell me to take care of it" basically refusing to give me the persons name. When I tried to argue that the company has called me in the past when they are behind he just kept yelling he doesn't have time to call everyone and said we should part ways. I said "part ways? I just called to question service and you want to part ways". He hung up on me. I called the office back, asked the nice lady to speak with a manager and he was apparently there and started yelling at me once again and seems like he made her hang up one me. I ended up calling back and asking another office rep to cancel my flea and tic and entire account and asked for a call back from a manager. Based on the reviews I shouldn't hold my breath. Things started out well with them but my guess is they were riding the coat tails of Turf Masters and their SH!T service caught up to them. My lawn looked better then and has never looked that great since they took over anyway! Central lawn should not be called a lawn service. They should rename the company lawn wrecker!! They first dumped fertilizer on my sons lawn and burned his lawn. He was smart he stopped using them! They just burned my front lawn and when I didn't hear the day someone would be over to fix the burn and called again to ask when they would be coming . The owner called and yelled at me for calling twice! Great job today from Anthony A. and his co-worker. Had a flea and tick application for the protection of our two dogs and the guys really went over and above. They sprayed the lawn of course but also the mulch beds, sides of the yard along the wood line, etc. Very thorough as usual. We have had CCLS for just a few years know and it's been money well spent. Many other neighbors in my area had the same problem with them from over fertilizing burns on grass and spreading a fungus to whole lawn from their equiptment that will take years to get rid of! Extremely poor professionalism! I've been calling and leaving numerous messages on the voicemail of this company for over 1 week so that I can pay my bill over the phone. No one returns my phone calls. I've never seen a company purposefully refuse to ignore their customer's calls when she is trying to pay her bill!! I've only had one application placed on my lawn thus far! When asked why, I was told by Jim that we didn't pay the bill. My husband spoke to the receptionist 2 months ago and paid the bill over the phone. Apparently it was never processed and they supposedly keep no records of phone calls unless a voicemail is left on their phone. I'm appalled and disgusted! The service guy, Jim green, is full of it- he is very rude and asinine! Hopefully the owner can change things before he looses all of his customers! I've had Central Ct Lawn Service for about a year now. And this is definitely the last year. My lawn has never looked this bad. During one service where they were supposed to fertilize the lawn and spray for weeds. The weed killer killed a number of large patches of grass along with the weeds. I expected some rebate as a result of that but never received one. In another application the fertilizer granules were distributed into my wife's flower beds which killed some of the plants. First year was great. Dave was awesome with customizing our needs. This year was awful. We had some dead spots, not a big deal...but the last time they came out and "sprayed for weeds" and killed all the grass at the curb of our property along the road. It looks awful. We have had a terrible experience with Central CT lawn service. Do not hire them. We hired them and had an issue with lawn. They took responsibility for the issue and guaranteed a new lawn with re-seeding. We re-seeded in the fall with many bad spots so they came back in the spring and said they re-seeded but we still have no grass. Extremely rude service. As soon as he arrived to my property he began using explicative language. He was also very rude and inconsiderate for anything I asked. I gave the guy a chance and hired him to do my first application. I called him up to see if it is worth to focus on the back of my lawn more rather than fertilize the front of my lawn since we agreed to kill and reseed the front in August. The guy flipped off on my as soon as soon as I asked him. He was extremely loud and got very irritated, claiming he was a rocket scientist for grass, then immediate removed me from his list of customers just for asking a simple questioned. My lawn was full of moss dead patches or grass and areas where grass was not growing. My parents used this company so gave them a shot. They did a wide array of treatments to the lawn and overseeding. One year later moss is gone and lawn looks full and amazing. Great company results speak for themselves. I would agree with and have experienced exactly what the other one star reviews have stated! Service provided even without a contract renewal, over seeding when the ground was basically frozen and more weeds and brown patches than actual grass. When complained the service was worse than terrible. Would rather loose a customer than do the right thing. Save your money, stay far far away ! read more

I've gone through all the other lawn service (Tru-Green, ChemLawn, you name it) and had CCLS recommended to me by my neighbor who used to own a lawn service in the Boston area before retiring to CT. These guys have been head and shoulders above the rest. They actually spread what you've paid for even when they know you're not home! Who woulda thunk it? My son now uses them along with my father in-law. Had them now for 4 years with nary an issue. Highly recommend. read more

They are the worst company we have ever dealt with! Using them, we are seeing more crab grass and weeds than ever and have spoken to their tech about our concerns. He promised to take care of it. We now have an abundance weeds, crab grass & nut grass that we never had before! When they do show up, they never do the complete yard and only make a few passes. Several times they never serviced our fenced in back yard. That would require getting off the equipment to open the gate; Guess that's too much trouble. Our yard was "serviced" this morning, yet most areas showed no signs of any product on the lawn. Cameras indicate quick passes, and they were here less than five minutes. Called office to speak to "Sal" about our dissatisfaction and he was argumentative and displays no integrity. He lied about the service performed including blowing off the driveway and patio to explain why you can't see any product and refused to come out to show why no product exists in multiple areas of the lawn! Wow, have you ever seen them blow off driveways and patios after an application? Never seen this happen and we have the cameras to prove it. Stay far away from them! Your wallet and lawn will be much better off! They could care less about their customers or their performance. read more

4/10/15 Just spoke to Chad from Central Ct Lawn, they came out gave me a lower price than my currant service, I said to the appraiser that this price seems low, he assured me that they have lawns in this area for the same size and price, and they work on cheaper prices because they do big volume, needless to say they called me today (4-10-15) and said they can not do my lawn for the contract price we agreed on of 150.00 per application, the new price would have to be 390.00, my recommendation say away from central ct lawn service! and specially Chad who was very rude and unprofessional! low ball tactics . Do yourself a favor and find someone else. Signed up for their service at the recommendation of a neighbor. End of April and they hadn't come around yet, called customer service who said they would be there during the week...never showed. Following week called again and customer service had the tech call me, who said he would be there the following day (Friday) and went on about how thick they lay the first treatment down and to call him if there were any problem areas afterwards. He was very polite and apologetic but that they were behind because of the late start due to weather, fine no problem I understand. Thing is, they never showed up that Friday.....or Saturday.....or Monday, benefit of the doubt was burned at that point. I called and cancelled. Now it's May, sunny, and the weeds are sprouting everywhere and probably too late to truly prevent the majority of crab grass. I've always done the fertilizer myself but chose this year to try a lawn service so i wouldn't have the hassle or worry about correct timing of applications any longer, these guys completely soured me. I'm usually a very patient man and rarely write a negative review (I'm not perfect) but I believe the service I received was atrocious.
