Though it was after normal business hours when I drove to the station, I appreciated that they didn't turn me away but dropped everything to calm me down and call an ambulance. I'm afraid I don't remember anyone's names or faces, but I do recall feeling safe and impressed with the rapid response. I am thankful to know the station is nearby, and now when I hear the fire trucks blaring down Kapiolani Boulevard, I say a silent prayer of protection for these brave souls that they may continue to do what they do best -- save lives.

But suddenly three pumper trucks, a chief's wagon, and a hook-and-ladder come blasting by. They stop just a block away. Hey, this is my neighborhood, let's check out the four-alarm fire. They have all stopped in front of Nashville Waikiki, which has emptied out. All the firemen are lined up like a portrait, but it's midnight and I can't get a good shot. So the rumor is there's a gas leak in the night club. After all the firemen either go into the club or disappear somewhere else, it hits me. That's not just a hook-and-ladder. It's a hook-and-ladder-and-surfboard. The truck was standing still, so I got a shot. Check it out!

I brought my friends who live in Kaneohe (I'm from Minnesota) and we had a great tour. It starts with a movie and then the tour. It was interesting to find out that royalty served as the first fire fighters. The department has a piece of the world trade center on their property. They have lots of old fire engines, tools and information on how to prevent fires. We had a fireman tour guide in each room. Nice to switch up. The Aloha that these two firefighters showed us was very special not only to Alex, but also to Grandma and Grandpa. My kids have come to check out the cool facilities and the amazing equipment, including the engines! I come to see who might be on the calendar lol, I kid! We always come with pastries or some kind of treat for the guys. We definitely appreciate all their hard work! Like I was saying, we've been to a couple of the stations on island and this one is not the worst and not the best. What I do know is this is one of the few stations where HAZMAT crews are stationed at. Pretty basic, kitchen, common, dorm and I believe the workout area is shared with the police station. Since we always have a purpose for our visit, I have no idea if anyone could just take a random tour... I'll ask and update lol.
