We could tell via satellite map where the location of the van was. It was in a remote part of Kapolei with challenges to enter the area. My contact, Officer Nakagawa and team persevered and ultimately, Officer Sonny Khamis located our van. The thief's cut the catalytic converter and took the wheel caps, but it can drive!!! Don't just complain. Come up with PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS that are good for ALL CONCERNED. Get involved with 2-hour monthly meetings to let the Mayor, the City Council, the legislature and even the Governor know wassup in your neighborhood that NEEDS IMPROVEMENT by first becoming AWARE of a problem that needs a resolution sooner or later. Get involved to MAKE IT SOONER. This is what I got. I WILL plan, God willing, to attend the McCully/Moiliili Neighborhood Board meeting on this Thursday, 12/6/18, from 6:30-8:30pm at St. Mary's Episcopal Church on S. King St. I will encourage my brother to also attend. Less than desirable experience. I had heard for years how unorganized the unit was, but it was…read morelower than the already low expectations I had set. Planning of training at all levels was a mess, I worked at individual unit level and Division, and though many leaders tried to fix it, it was not. It appeared that many field grades and above wanted to leave their mark on the division and make the unit seem more valuable and important than they were. But forget about the soldiers suffering at the individual level due to the overwhelming optempo. It's Hawaii. Let the soldiers experience it and remember that they are people too, and giving them a few hours off once a week for mahalo Thursday or whatever it is now doesn't make up for the lost time in training and packing out! Don't get me wrong, the need for a unit in the Pacific, but the equipment, facilities, and training cycle all need to be revamped. I know CoS will not budge as "it's Hawaii", so with that said, maybe take care of the soldiers like Big Army thinks you already are! By the way, 2 stars are very generous since I lost my retirement by 12 days because of this less-than-stellar HHBN leadership at the time! thanks guys! But I will still bounce back and be amazing since life out of uniform rocks!

81 years... It's…read morebeen 81 years today since Hiroshima was bombed at 8:15am while many was out and about to start their day...I do have a very special connection to this city much more than I realize that part of my family is from here to a relative that worked in the Dome that is a shrine today to symbolize peace and strength to this lovely gift replica of the Torii gate that sits in the Moili'ili Triangle Park. There are several plaque one is dedicated to the first Hiroshima immigrants that settled in Moili'ili Kihachi and Shiga Kashiwabara. Every moment I pass this beauty which is quite often as it sits prominently peaceful amongst our busy traffic it's a reminder of not just the connection but friendship we share with all and to not forget and embrace what we have. Thank you!
