Received my first box today.... I'll have to agree with one of the reviewers below. The company is VERY misleading, and I wish I read the Yelp review first. Below is an excerpt from the website: "I have made it my mission in life to help small family farms, not so unlike the one I grew up on, to be financially independent outside of big agriculture and to create a marketplace for those that dare to challenge the norm of conventional farming." They DO NOT PROVIDE locally grown produce. You are better off going to your local farmers market. The produce they offer can be found at your local Publix or even Walmart. *The produce looked healthy and fresh - however, I was very surprised to see Chiquita branded bananas. Space Girl Organics pride themselves on locally sourced products (read the FAQ etc.) - but you are delivered fruit from a company that has previously supported terrorism... I called the company and spoke to a representative. She explained that it's difficult to find produce in Florida year round due to the heat, and they look elsewhere for produce. This would be OK if it was transparent AND if it was held to the same standard. You could easily source produce from other local farms throughout the country instead of sourcing from the "big brands" / "conventional farming" you are against. Avoid. Shop locally (Farmers Market) or visit Wholefoods. *Please note, it was nice of the representative to recommend a local CSA. I've increased the 1 star review to a 2 star review because of this. I've been with Space Girl Organics for a looong time now. I joined up a couple of years ago when I was looking for an organic coop to join and BLAMO there was a special deal available on Space Girl. I signed up and have been with this service ever since. Lucinda, founder/owner, is such a fantastic person too. One year I inquired if she knew of any way to get a turkey for Thanksgiving. She went well out of her way to hook me up. Always happy to work around unique requests and special dietary needs, the service has been great. Here's how it works: You sign up and if you like, you can make a list of produce you're not a fan of (and it won't end up in your box). Each weekend we get the email blast telling us the boxes are ready for review (and what items are needed this week for the local homeless shelter). You login, check your box, make substitutions if you want to switch anything out, add items (you can shop!) that maybe weren't in your box like fruit, veggies, meat, eggs, butter, seasonings, oils.... you get the idea. And then, come your delivery day, you put out your box (with any donations you can make to the homeless) and they switch it out with one full of delicious, fresh, organic produce. I've had meat, eggs, butter, veggies and fruit delivered with no problems at all. It's always perfectly chill despite our roasty, hot Florida summers. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to increase their organic intake, who love the idea of supporting our humane/organic agriculture/farms, who like to give back to the community (this element is completely voluntary, but it does leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling). There are patches here and there where the produce might not change much because of what's in season. I typically may just skip a week here and there if I get more of something than I can handle. The site is set up in a way that managing your schedule is a snap. Push a button to skip/add weeks or go on vacation. Super easy, super delish. I love having ORGANIC fruits and vegetables delivered right to my door! The food is fresh and delicious. I love the variety. It challenges me to try new recipes and to stay healthy. I lost 15lb. in the first three months thanks to eating organic and reducing carbs. I have been getting boxes for 2 1/2 years! Customizing my order is easy, right on my smart phone each week. Love this company. They provide top quality produce and other organic grocery items directly to your door. The customer service is amazing. They also collect and donate items for local charities. I provided fruit boxes to a friend while she was undergoing chemo and they always gave her extras here and there to make her feel special. I've actually been using this company for several years. When I first started, they were amazing. But over the past year, the quality and the freshness of the produce has gone way downhill. I would get boxes with produce that was already on the verge of spoiling, and their customer service was usually less than helpful (when I first started they were great). I had halted deliveries until recently, when I saw they had a good variety of produce available for this past week's delivery. When my delivery arrived, I remembered immediately way I stopped getting deliveries before. I received damaged produce, produce that was the wrong variety (heirloom tomatoes that were just regular tomatoes), and produce that had mold on it. I would really not recommend this company any longer, and I would instead look for other alternatives for fresh organic produce. Additionally, their produce is not local at all, and most of it can be found from the same growers at Publix/Aldi. read more

This company doesn't really have anything to do with the local community. Anything you purchase from them is most likely from outside the United States. Yes it is probably organic, but their website, (https://www.spacegirlorganics.com/about-us) is very misleading. When I called to return my items and discuss their false advertising with them the answer was "There actually aren't many things you can grow in Florida because of the heat." and "There just aren't very many local farmers who grow organic fruits and vegetables in Florida." I find this hard to believe. When I go to the MANY farmer's markets around here I meet plenty of local farmers and growers of all different kinds of vegetables and fruits. None of that matters. What matters is that everything Spacegirl delivers to your door, for a hefty premium, is available at Publix. Don't waste your money, because they will not return your items and they will not give your money back. read more
