My friend John R. and I headed over to Central Funeral Home for GuiYing Ma's 11:00 am funeral service. Upon arrival, we wrote our names in the funeral register book. The staff was helping us with our white envelopes. First, you must write out your full name on the front of the envelope. Second, you dropped the envelope into the donation box. We sat down in the last row next to my friend Fulton. My other friend Aaron was busy photographing the funeral service. Thanks to Congresswoman Grace Meng, Senator John Liu, Councilwoman Sandra Ung, and the staff on behalf of Governor Kathy Hochul for speaking today. Review is based on the Flushing Location Central Funeral Home. The funeral. My father passed away on Tuesday December 30, 2025 at Flushing Hospital. Central Funeral Home picked up my dad body from the hospital in less than 24 hours. My mom and I met with one of their representatives on Wednesday December 31, 2025. Her name was Mrs Kim provided clear communication on providing the necessary step to process the whole funeral. Starting with help filling out the application and taking care of my father remains. Prior to the wake I was instructed to bring good condition clothes. The Central funeral home went the distance by improving his appearance prior to the wake which added more value to the overall service they provided. The wake to see my dad was arranged on Sunday January 05, 2026. My dad was not in good shape at the time of his death. I was able to see my Dad body one final time on Monday January 06, 2026 prior to closing the casket and going to the graveside service which was transported by the Central Funeral Home. Many thanks to Augustine Chan who had helped plan our father's funeral service seamlessly and smoothly. We are so grateful for his and his entire team service. He really has patience of a saint demonstrated through out every step from beginning to the end of the planning. From the very beginning, he guided us and explained all the steps needed for the entire process of the wake and funeral services from body pickup, death certificate, casket, flower arrangements, clothings, things to put in casket, tombstone, burning joss paper money, tombstone engraving and etc. He is also very well versed in few languages, with Cantonese my mother was able to understand and get involved in the planning as much as for English speaker like my sisters and I did. Not just in spoken language but his Chinese writing helped with written names on flower ribbons or guidance on tombstone engraving. Whenever we needed change of info or additional info or drop off something, whether in person or call or text he would be available. He went above and beyond to help us to get my father's photo enhanced and take battery out of the watch so it wouldn't rot in casket. He also accommodated to allow us to have extra time for the wake and have early service in the morning before sending my father off. These were the subtle things that worth mentioning of his kind consideration. The whole experience has enriched us to be able honor our father in the Chinese tradition way that he would be proud of. Overall, his patience and immense knowledge of our Cantonese traditions provided us with a peace of mind that we were following our ancestors traditions. We had bury dad a couple of weeks ago. It was very sad and emotional the last few weeks. We had a very bad experience with the home hospice company we used. My family was very frustrated and angry and sad. Thank god for Roger at Central. He walked us through the very painful process, was very responsive, answered every phonemail, text... Most importantly, he was able to modernize the traditional chinese funeral for the younger generation. I want to thank Central Funeral Home for my mom's funeral. My family has been using Central Funeral Home for our funeral needs since 1991. The first was my grandmother, and the latest person who passed away was my mother. The funeral director Mr. Ha walked me through the steps and made my hard time a bit easier. The funeral make-up artist did a great job on my mom, and the two funeral staff who helped us at the Burial site did a wonderful job. When my father passed it was a distressing and disorienting time and I'm so glad we found Central Funeral Home. The funeral director Mr Ha was compassionate, kind, efficient, attentive, and gracious. He picked up the phone late at night and communicated by text to keep things moving quickly and easily. He made the arrangements go so smoothly and was very conscious of keeping the prices under control. At the time of the services the staff was highly attentive and respectful and set up both a YouTube livestream and a zoom meeting so people around the world could join in. They were there the whole time to keep things moving smoothly. Phillip and Andrew were on site during the wake and handled everything so well. The Central Funeral team was there every step of the way from the wake to the church funeral to the burial and really allowed us to grieve and honor my father without worrying about the details. This funeral home is awful. If I could give it negative stars, I would. My family and I came here to find out information and not only was the guy cold, but treated us like a business transaction. He just explained the costs and then made us sign under the assumption that if we were going to use them, the process will be smoother because we signed. We told them we will call with our decision. After consulting with the family, we decided to go with the first funeral home that we went to. We were ready to pay when the lady came back with disturbing news. My grandfather was already picked up from the hospital by central funeral home. We didn't give them permission but they picked him up anyway! We called central and asked why they picked up our grandfather when we didn't give them permission. The guy said we signed a contract. Oh! You mean the contract you said was not a contract and was only to make the process go smoother?! Jerkoffs! When we asked to transfer our grandfather, they were reluctant and tried to negotiate a deal. They said that they would match the price with the funeral home we were going to use. HOW DARE YOU?!!!!! We got our grandfather back to the funeral home we were going to use but I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Unfortunately many Koreans and Chinese people use them but American funeral homes are way better. read more

Dear Central Funeral Home, On the morning of September 26th, 2013, my Grandmother's body was ceremonially cast into the earth with the aid of your employees. After this experience, I feel it my duty in honoring the dignity for myself, my family, and my Grandmother's spirit to say that I couldn't have asked for a better way to have my Grandmother's great life and spirit painfully disrespected through the services of your company. As my family suffered in grievances of our loss, I believe we were in need of guidance and professionalism in handling the difficult process of our Grandmother's funeral, which we hoped to find eased through your facilitation. Yet as I witnessed and took part in the funeral, I was personally outraged and disgusted by the lack of sincerity and care the coordinator and his assistants had for my family members and for my Grandmother's spirit on that event. The coordinator's very mechanical way of directing my family through paying respects and detached attitude when speaking to members of my family demonstrated a serious inattentiveness to the emotional awareness of our feelings and suffering at that time. The funeral was also poorly planned, noting that the papers to be burned in the fire were not properly set up beforehand, wasting a lot of time during the funeral, not to even mention shaming my Grandmother's spirit to have done that in front of her casket. There was no thought to giving my family time to retrieve sustenance for the long procession and left the responsibility to my cousin who had to hand over food to my family members in the middle of traffic as we headed to the burial ground. The drivers were also, unsafe and drove at unnecessary speeds through the highway. The poor planning was obvious evidence of very poor and unclear communication with my family. As a Funeral service, these matters and details should have been under the province of the coordinator and your employees and not left for family members to suffer confusion by. I was subsequently even more dismayed by the allowance of radio playing and cigarette smoking by the Funeral car drivers and attendants upon placing the casket into the hearse and in the hour following our arrival at the burial ground. Again, I want to reiterate that I couldn't have asked for a better way for my Grandmother's spirit to be disrespected than by the discourtesy and carelessness of your Funeral services. I believe your company took advantage of my family's naivety and emotional preoccupation upon our first real and great loss. To be fair, I do want to give proper credit to the only person I believe showed great kindness and respect for our loss, which was the young woman Gladys who helped my make my Grandmother's clothes and makeup for the Funeral and with whom I spoke with before the procession. I have deep gratitude to her for being the only human being in your soul-less Funeral company. But all in all I hope that none of my other family members, or any other family for that matter has to experience a funeral procession like that to ever under the prospect of your services. The manner in which the event was handled is unforgivable and is now sadly left for us to repent upon for the spirit of my Grandmother. He was professional and helpful during a time when we were all freshly grieving. He was sympathetic, informative and made what could have been a very stressful and overwhelming process seem bearable. Although one is never quite prepared to say good bye to a loved one, we found it helpful to start speaking to the funeral home staff prior to my father's passing. Once he passed peacefully at home on hospice, the funeral home waited until family members were able to see him before they arranged for transfer to the funeral home. The funeral home director met with our family and explained things in both Korean and English which was helpful. They accommodated a memorial service and prayer service the next day and a funeral service and chapel service at the cemetery the following day with great attention to personal detail providing dignity for my father and comfort to my family. read more

I definitely have to appreciate the staff and the place given my recent experience. My uncle passed away in an accident recently and I came to know about this Funeral Home through my uncle's friend. Since I was not aware of the process of sending the mortal remains to India, I was very much worried initially. But when I spoke to their staff, they explained everything and they took care of all the paperworks and also arranged for a viewing before sending to India. Last night I went to a funeral held at the "Central Funeral Home". I am now 64 years old, and unfortunately have attended many funerals. This one was extremely different. I was lucky enough to find a "Handicapped Parking Spot" in their lot, which made it easy for me to enter their facility. From the minute I walked in, I was treated with the utmost respect. The people there literally led me by the arm to the funeral I was attending. The staff is outstanding. They care. They were the most respectful people I have ever met. They were interested in my comfort and safety. I want to make it clear, I have been to many funerals, but this one just amazed me. The level of service they gave to the mourners was top notch.
