We believe Grandma would have been happy with her service. They spoke English and Cantonese during the service as per our request. We had to show up on time then they drove us to each locations and back to pick up our cars in their parking lot. I am the most impressed with the military precision of the fleet of drivers that controlled traffic to keep the car procession together! Thank you for your respectful service. We are glad we went to Chun Fook for our mom's funeral services. Of course, nothing was planned in advance and we had to figure things out as it happens. We are so grateful that we had Jacky as our funeral director. He helped my brother and I understand the necessary Chinese traditions and explained everything thoroughly to us in English, and navigated discussions with our dad and uncle in Cantonese. He also allowed us to incorporate in a slideshow video with music for the funeral service by providing a TV and a laptop just in case for us to plug in our USB with the video. We explained to him what was important to us, such as how we wanted our mom to look, with not too much heavy makeup and as natural as possible. They delivered on that. As we were last minute trying to figure things out, we did not have a cemetery yet. We had one cemetery in mind and he recommended we check out a second cemetery before deciding. We ended up going with the cemetery we had in mind for convenience from our home to visit our mom whenever we wanted to. Chun Fook is an upscale Chinese funeral home specializing in traditional Chinese funerals. They facilitate all processes from preplanning, transportation of the deceased, obituaries, ceremonies, burials, and cremations. In the past month, I have entered this facility at least three times and Chun Fook has made the funeral planning and execution experience a comfortable one. Jacky Yuen coordinated my loved one's funeral and he was dedicated to ensuring that everything was properly handled. He spent over two hours with me to discuss the family ancestry, cemetery requirements, funeral processions, and all the Chinese customs involved. He displayed his sympathy and responsibility throughout the entire process from notifying me when my loved one has been transported to the morgue, making sure that the attire was ready, to answering any questions I had through call and text. The day of the funeral was seamless thanks to his expertise and effort. Families should be aware that the cost of a traditional Chinese funeral at Chun Fook is upwards of ($20,000) for a burial. The costs are attributed to a ($6,000) rate for basic funeral costs, plus the casket, flower arrangements, embalming, hearse, transportation, opening of the grave, outer interment, etc. The casket selected was on sale for ($1,795) online but Chun Fook priced it at ($6,800). The outer interment receptacle I chose was ($3,800) but online it retails for ($1,995). There is a markup, but Chun Fook had laid the process out clearly and Jacky Yuen gave me the time to ensure the decisions I made were purposeful to honor my deceased loved one. The cost is to ensure that my family does not have an undue burden during a time of grief when the funeral home could handle everything. The images on Yelp are an accurate depiction of the funeral home. There are three levels. The basement has their offices, consultation areas, a casket showroom, spacious well-lit restrooms, and morgue. There is only one elevator; I encountered a body bag being transported as I headed to the restroom. The first floor has their grand spiral staircase, two chapels, and a check-in area. The upper level has two additional chapels and one single restroom. There are auspicious days for Chinese funerals and days where funerals should not take place. On that particular day, there were four funerals taking place at the same time. An oversight occurred on the death certificate/transcript where the middle name was incorrectly entered. The cemetery dug up the wrong grave in the family plot when we specified the one next to the sidewalk. Our driver was the funeral director at the cemetery, but since he was not present at the morning ceremony, he was not familiar with who the immediate family members were and he misspoke the decedent's name. However, he was a good respectful driver following the hearse, I understood that it was a cold day and the cemetery staff had limited availability. Good service if not a little rushed - perhaps they're too skilled. I always see the broken seams of their black jacket - white shirts. They're 3.5. Our dearly beloved mother passed away on March 17, 2021. We chose Chun Fook Funeral Group to hold her funeral. My father and I met with Sammy Kwan, one of the funeral directors. Upon meeting him, Mr. Kwan was very professional, knowledgeable and kind. He expressed his condolences for our loss and took the time to go through each step of the planning process with my father and I. Mr. Kwan did not rush or pressure us into choosing anything that we did not want included in my mother's funeral. On the day of the funeral, Jacky Yuen helped guide our immediate family in what would be happening throughout the viewing: from safety precautions being taken due to covid, where to stand when greeting our guests and letting us know when it would be time to deliver mom's eulogy. A very sad occasion indeed but very happy we went to Chun Fook. "JACKY Y." took care of everything from A to Z. Being our first experience, our questions and concerns were answered quickly; this helped alleviate a lot of stress. A staff member spent over 10 mins directing another staff on the perfect flower placement (they didn't even know I was there watching). Without a doubt - You will be taken care of here. ASK FOR JACKY! I can't begin to explain how much I appreciate the work and dedication Jacky has put into my sisters funeral. To start with, he saw us for 3 hours after dealing with 4 customers earlier in the day. With 6 screaming ladies at him, Jacky was calm and explained all of our options while answering all six voices at once. This review is only as an attendee to a funeral, and burial. I have visited Chun Fook Funeral Services twice. First time was to get an arrangement of flowers which came out beautifully on the day of the funeral for my Uncle. Second time to attend my Uncle's Funeral and Burial. Couple of things. The staff here is very professional and gave directions both in Chinese and English. They kept us informed of the time frame and when they were heading up to the cemetery to bury my uncle. I was not familiar with some of the customs and rituals the funeral personnel directed us to do. Times have certainly change when it comes to this arena. They gave each automobile a small purple flag to put on the window, so we can follow and not get lost during the funeral procession going up to the cemetery. Wish they did not ask for the flag back so we can follow them back to the funeral home. Realized that after the burial other cars went their own ways. "Yay! I'm a fan." doesn't seem like the probably terms for a funeral home...but, I think this place is deserving of 4 stars at least. My grandfather's funeral services took place here. This Daoist funeral took a full day and a half. During those days, there was lots of chanting and lots of burning incense. I believe that a recording of chants/prayers were played overnight in my grandfather's room as well. The facility and staff were very accommodating to all our procedures. The room where my grandfather stayed for those few days, as well as the entire facility, looked well kept and clean. For grieving family members, the staff there were very comforting, gentle, respectful and kind toward us. Not that I'm recommending people die, but it's a good place for your loved ones' services. Been here twice once for my late Grandfather and recently for my late Grandmother, I think this place was pretty professional. They helped burn the incense and the paper money, and everything was pretty much laid out to us very straight forward. They were sympathetic and respectful towards all of my family members and friends and especially to my father since it was his mothers funeral, pained him the most. I appreciated that they offered to get bakery coffees and pastries if we needed. There's parking in the back of the building and conveniently located by the Van Wyck expressway on Northern Blvd. They also spoke Chinese and English so that everyone understood the instructions and information. I felt that they lifted much of the pain off during the hard times we were all going through, and that's what's most important. So I give this place 4 stars because they do what they do well, and they do what is needed. But I wouldn't phrase my yelp rating as "Yay! I'm a fan" for Chun Fook Funeral Home, that's just disturbing. If you're Chinese and seek a funeral home because of a sudden tragedy, I would recommend Chun Fook though. That is all read more

As a Christian Asian American where all our aunts and uncles have very traditional Chinese values it was difficult to decide which Christian funeral services to introduce while holding the respect for Chinese traditions. We are so thankful for Jacky and his Chun Fook team to help us navigate through every step of the funeral while taking both our desires and our extended family desires into consideration. He has made many accommodations for multiple requests we had from fixing flowers to bringing multiple cameras in so our relatives can see different angles on zoom for those who could not make it in person. It truly feels odd using "Woohoo!" for a funeral home, it really doesn't sum up my mood when I think of this place. Having lost my grandfather earlier this year, the most I could hope for was a nice send off for him, and Chun Fook delivered. My relatives chose this location after researching several other funeral homes, and considering my family is not exactly swimming in dough, I'm sure it was reasonably priced (though I grant I was not privy to the exact dollar mounts). The facilities are one of the newest in the "Fook" family of funeral homes. The facility has three levels, though I only visited the main one and the basement (where the rest rooms and a waiting area are). The waiting area had several comfortable looking couches and LCD screens. Ornate sculptures and wall decorations were to be found spread around, but they were not over the top. The rest room facilities were sparkling clean and well maintained. I remember having arrived very early for my grandfather's funeral. I was the first person there and after making sure I was a member of the family, I was allowed into his room. Calm chanting played in the impressive room. Like its sibling Chinatown branch, the walls had moldings which held flower arrangements and there was plenty of seating for everyone. I would say this room was twice the size of the ones in the Ng Fook branch in Chinatown. As with the Chinatown branch, the staff was respectful and helpful. Instructions were given in Chinese and Cantonese, which helps since some of my family members do not speak Cantonese. They were also very helpful in pre-arranging several of the finer traditional points such as what articles to wear and when (including yarn flowers, black bands around our arms, sashes etc. - all dictated by tradition). I was thankful my grandfather was given a good funeral that paid respect to his time on this Earth. I recommend Chun Fook if you are looking for a traditional Chinese service done in a new and beautiful facility. read more

Our family has a long history with Chun Fook Queens after having funerals managed for both of our parents and our dear uncle. I went to a funeral here and I was extremely impressed from start to finish. Location: This is a few blocks away from the Flushing Main street station stop of the 7 train. Sit in the back of the train and go up those exits. Walk along Main Street until you get to Northern Blvd. You can see the building as you stand at the corner because it's huge and majestic! Off white and green look to your left it's right by the entrance to the highway. There are also busses that stop right around the funeral home as well. The entrance is not on Prince street it's on Northern. Venue: The door of the funeral home will have names in English under large Hanzi(characters in Mandarin). As soon as you walk in it's like a banquet hall for where you would get married or have prom. There are beautiful chandeliers and a winding staircase up to another level. The reception desk is across from the entrance. They have lots of leather seats/couches for you to sit on while you mingle. As soon as I walked in the staff asked which funeral I was there for. The funeral was in the first room in the left and it had about three chandeliers. The lighting and acoustics were good! The staff will take you through the steps for paying your respects. You sign the book, get whatever momento is being given, then you are escorted to see the dearly departed. The guy who took me up was like a drill sergeant! He barked at me "You come and pay your respect!" It was humorous because I was talking to my friend who was of the deceased's family but this guy had no time for my messing up the order of things! After I paid my respect I expressed sympathies to all the family members. That room held easily about 150 people. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. It was much fancier than any bathroom I've been to at a funeral home! The lower level where the bathroom also has leather furniture in addition to really nice artwork. The service: I'm sure this varies depending on the person- it was said in three languages: English, Mandarin and the other I think was Cantonese. There also were a lot of flowers that looked like regular fixtures of the facilities. Overall I appreciate how well the service was run and that they kept everyone on schedule. read more

My father suddenly passed away this summer. As is the case with many families, we only had a general idea on the type of funeral my father would have wanted, and scrambled to figure out funeral arrangements as quickly as possible. We were looking for a Christian style funeral and for a funeral home that is familiar with Chinese customs. We visited Central on Sanford and received a depressing pitch for funeral arrangements - it was a very painful process. There was also not much guidance on how set up the funeral - it felt as if we were just renting the room and buying a coffin and vault. A friend referred us to Jacky who works at Chun Fook. The moment we met Jacky, he was very compassionate and calmly walked us through the entire process, from transporting our father's body from the morgue, explaining customary arrangements for funerals from my father's village, to working with my father's village association to obtain a burial plot. He did not try to up-sell us on extra items that were not necessary, which is something I hear happens often when working with funeral homes. He provided a simple list of to-do items to prepare for the funeral and was very responsive via text to any inquiries up until the morning of his funeral service. Jacky gave us constant updates when his staff was transporting my father's body from the morgue until it was received at the funeral home. On the day of the funeral, we were able to tell that his body was well taken care of - makeup was done very well to a good resemblance of my father when he was alive. He was well dressed and personal items we provided were well-placed in the coffin. Floral and banner arrangements were nicely placed. We were given ample time to spend with our father as a family, and ample time for the formal viewing. There was also a touching formal ceremony prepared for us for the burial at the cemetery. We believe Jacky and Chun Fook provided a proper send off that my father would have been pleased with. While we are all sad to lose him, we feel he would have been proud of the funeral "ceremony" we held to celebrate his life. While losing a loved one is a difficult process, Jack and Chun Fook eased the pain of handling funeral arrangements. read more

Because my father had passed away outside of NY, Jacky had made every effort to arrange a flight to bring back my father safely and efficiently so that I can provide a proper funeral services back in Flushing, NY. Although Chun Fook has a small parking lot in the back for immediate family members, it was convenient in having an additional parking lot (at 37-20 Prince Street) available for visitors. Please keep in mind, walking back from Chun Fook to the lot is an up-hill climb so be prepared that some older folks may not want to make that climb back to the car. What added to some convenience, this same parking lot was affiliated with a few restaurants around the area that allowed for a dinner or lunch gathering with family & friends after the wake and burial. Chun Fook can simply validate your tickets with ease. Chun Fook also designed an obituary webpage exclusively for my father that provides the schedule of events (e.g., wake, burial) on visitation. One thing I feel they could do better is getting this webpage completed in a quicker fashion. Although I was verbally told the schedule, I was delayed in sending out the links to out-of-state family members allowing ample time to plan for flights to NY. Overall, Chun Fook conducted a very respectable, beautiful, wake-cremation-burial (3-day process) ceremony for my father. All personnel were very respectful while we were going through this very difficult time. I would like to especially thank Jacky. Words can't describe how helpful his assistance was in this whole process for me and my family. I can see the hard work and dedication he has in this job. Jacky was nothing but wonderful to everyone and kudos to him and Chun Fook ! Watching my best friend grieve her 22 year old daughter is never easy and as a funeral director who deals with mourning on a daily basis, he never once showed any less compassion or humanity and brought that extra dose of sensitivity to the table. And I would like to reiterate that on the day the arrangements were made, even though it was at the end of the day and he was probably exhausted, he was so patient and kind, and multitasking different questions shot out from all of us at the same time. During the funeral services, he added his own personal touch by checking in on the guests consistently and ensuring he was attentive to everyone's needs. Making funeral arrangement is never an easy task unfortunately, I have gone through several in my lifetime. I choose Chun Fook this time because it was located in Queens and had a good reputation. I was pleasantly surprised at the service they provided. Lots of that was due to the funeral director, Jacky Yuen. He showed much compassion, patience and empathy throughout the entire process. These 3 qualities made him stand out from the rest. Little things like always referring to my daughter by her name and never as the decease. And patiently explaining traditional and rituals that needed to take place to ensure her safe passage. He made sure that small details were taken care of so I wouldn't have to worry about them. He took care of the details so I could mourn my daughter. For that, I will always be grateful. read more

0 stars... I was very, very disappointed with this place. When a loved one passes away, you expect the people at a funeral home to help you with the process. This is NOT the case with Chun Fook in Flushing. My grandfather passed away about two weeks ago in a rehabilitation center in Flushing. The rehab center gave us a 4 hour window in which we could move the body to a funeral home. Since it was about 11pm, we chose the most convenient and closest option which turned out to be Chun Fook. The next day we went back to iron out the details with regards to pricing, scheduling for the wake and service, and what they would do with the body: basically the whole procedure for a funeral. At first we spoke with a man who claimed to be the manager of the funeral home and he quoted us the price of about $3900 for embalming, makeup, dress up, hold/care of the body, two hours per day for two days for use of the funeral home (one day for the wake and another day for the service) etc. After this discussion, he then tried to sell us a coffin from their store. The cemetery required that we get a metal coffin since we were placing the body in a mausoleum. He quoted us $8000 for a copper coffin!!! It was too expensive and very unreasonable so we did a bit of searching ourselves and we found the same copper coffin online for only $2000 and free shipping as well!!! Thank you very much to Matt from www.dignifiedcaskets.com! We called the funeral home and told the "manager" that we had our own casket so we would not be buying from them. This is when they started being, to put it lightly, difficult. Another man came on the phone and claimed that he was the real manager and that the other person (presumably a subordinate) had quoted the incorrect price. He now wanted to charge us about $4500 so we went back to the funeral home to discuss this issue with him in person. The difference in service was incredible. He now treated us as if he were doing us a favor of arranging the funeral rather than us paying him to do his job. When we encountered this horrible service and attitude, we decided to take our business elsewhere. We paid them about $1300 for the work they had already done (embalming and care of the body for several days) and got the heck outta there. Luckily we found a funeral home in Chinatown that charged us a little less than the original price Chun Fook quoted us so that all the expenses we paid equaled to what we would have paid if we stayed with Chun Fook. However, service was much better and instead of only two hours, we got four hours each for the wake and actual service. Beware of Chun Fook! They will try to sell you outrageously priced coffins, then try to scam/cheat you, and will include incredibly bad service on top of that...free of charge! I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone who actually cares about their loved ones that have passed away. read more

As some of my family recommended Chun Fook, we thought the experience here wouldn't be disastrous. While the family was desperate dealing with the loss of the loved one, interacting with some people from this place was another disaster. Not everyone here was that bad except for their manager "Sammy Kwan", This man is insensitive, rude, unprofessional, and only cares about money. We really expected good service from them as the dispatcher I spoke to, and the people who picked up the body, were very nice and professional. Plus, there were inconsistency with the rates. The final rate turned out to be twice the rate they initially gave us. Also, Sammy Kwan was not very good at showing sympathy or he just isn't an empathetic person at all. When we asked him questions, he clearly wasn't capable of giving right answers. The worst part is that they questioned us so many times why we'd like to do direct cremation. They say it is to make sure we won't regret our decision. We understand if it is just once or twice, but no, they questioned us more than four times. The manager looked upset too when we told him it is our late uncle's wish. It seems to me that they wanted us to spend a lot more money there. And it is unbelievable that a place with this kind of business doesn't accept any credit cards. They didn't inform this ahead of the time either. So overall, it was just a hassle and unnecessary added inconvenience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you plan to spend a lot of money like these people here expect you to. read more

Humbert Yeung was extremely rude to my mother when we had stopped by about 2 weeks ago to plan my father's funeral. So, I cannot believe that the other reviews about good service from Humbert Yeung can be real . I hope the management at Chun Fook will read my review and put Humbert Yeung through sensitivity training. Someone in management shoule role play with humbert to make he will be able to respond in a respectful and professional manner. My elderly mother, who was mourning the death of my father may have asked questions of Humbert Yeung more than once. He had on more than one occasion rolled his eyes and said to my mother" I just gave the answer to your daughter". Not to mention, the conversation was muffled because everyone was wearing a mask due to the pandemic. He also responded to my mother in a sarcastic and rude tone, "tell me which funeral home this is, because i would like to give them some business", when my mother asked about storage fees of ashes. She had heard that some funeral home will stores a loved ones ashes for several months. Humbert Yeung has no patience as a salesperson. He should understand that people who come to him are in mourning, and may ask what he thinks are stupid questions. After all, it is not everyday that people go shopping for funeral services, caskets, cremation urns, etc. Humbert needs to learn and practice on how to be patient with the elderly, since they may be hard of hearing. Humbert Yeung may deal with the topic of death everyday, but that is not normal for most people. He should be more sensitive to peoples feelings. At first my mother was willing to overlook Humbert Yeung rudeness towards her, because she wanted my father's service to be in a nice funeral home. I have been to Chun Fook for a few other funerals. Honestly, it is a nicely decorated funeral home- but I refused to give that place my money. They were disrespectful to the living ( my mother and I). Can you imagine the disrespect they would show your loved ones who are not alive? You, the reader of this review may wonder why I didnt yell at Humbert. The answer is that I was not in the mood to curse this guy out in front of my mother. I was not my usual feisty self ( I was in mourning for christs sakes! ) I just wanted to get my mother out of Chun Fook and go elsewhere to finish planning my Dad's service. We eventually choose another funeral home in Flushing. It was a smaller one, but the people were very kind and polite. They were very patient and answered our questions.
