the hospital was very big but we found the dermatologist room right away. looked like the back rooms tho. kinda scary . the data was bad but they did have wi-fi. wi-fi worked amazing. the nurse came quickly and then the doctor came after, but it took a while. honestly there was nothing really wrong with this dermatology place. i had red dots on my hands and the doctor checked it out really quickly and told me what it is. read more

This feedback is given with the best intentions of providing my experiences with the patient communication process if needed. I can't say enough good about Ashley Steffan, when I have face to face conversations with her, I do feel confident in her and trust my care. However, the past year, I had faced biopsy results that lead to Mohs Surgery referrals, the first time about a year ago, and I was told I would be referred to Core Dermatology for the consult and surgery plan. Full disclosure, it would have been nice to understand the MOHS surgery, and the specific biopsy results related to the referral recommendation treatment option. I was able to get all of these confirmed with the help of the internet (not always my first go to) my consult at Core and the PA team. I felt that to be an odd way to transition a patient to a competitive alternate care team. After that experience, and after the procedure, I did let a nurse at CID know my concerns with having to navigate this initial information myself, with unknown even basic understanding and having to ultimately get more details from the Core referral staff vs. the team of the Dr. and Offices I am with as a patient at CID. Then, recently again, another biopsy resulted in another referral for surgery. You can imagine the questions I may have had now, finding another suspicious issue again and curious to discuss options, which I briefly inquired with Dr. Steffan at the appointment. I asked her about what -if and what her opinion was for known alternatives other than surgery methods. Dr. Steffan, confirmed that if it was superficial, non-surgical options are options but, in other cases, it typically delays and resurfaces in the problem again. So, when I was called with the results, the nurse or whoever delivers that information told me I would need surgery and I could have it done in their office or be referred to Core. I asked her about the difference in surgery process which ultimately led me to Core again. I however, was not provided the depth of the clinical results/terms of the biopsy, (i.e. was it superficial, nodular, micro nodular, etc. only that it was basal cell). So, once I met with the Core PA today again, and I finally saw the clinical results stating, Superficial, nodular, etc. I had questions again, I was provided discussion and thorough information related to my questions and finally decided to opt for the MOHS again, not 100% convinced if I am honest, but not pressured one way or another, just more conversation, gained trust and asked for statistical info to give me the best path for my ultimate decision. In closing, I only provide this feedback, as I sincerely feel some of those in-depth conversations or information exchange should happen with my Dr. and/or his or her/ PA trusted team at the office I chose to be as a patient. I understand Dr's are busy and oftentimes have support teams like PA's or nurse counterparts. Frankly, I don't have an experience that is how it works with CID in my two cases. Should I future out eliminate the need for a two-provider process. Frankly, I am gaining knowledge each time and I felt sort of guilty in both experience events, having to come in blind of details each time. CID is truly a very very busy office, and for routine screenings and results, I am satisfied. But follow-up or issues that may require more information and interaction in my experience has been puzzling for sure. I hope this feedback is valuable. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Beaudry's for several years. After my last body check in Dec., she burnt a couple of things off & then told me to use Fluorouracil Cream5% all over my face. She stressed not to dot here & there but to put all over my face 2 x day for 4 weeks. I called within 24 hrs of using the creme 1 X as I thought it was quite a severe reaction for only using it once. (they don't accept pictures) but very abruptly told me I had to decide if I was going to use this or not, I could not start & stop & she needed let the Dr. know. After I thought about it my face was already unpresentable to the public so I used it 1 x day for 7 days. I called the office first thing Monday a.m. to let them know I was stopping the flourouracil creme. It is too painful& could not do it anymore. So, all I asked was to ask the Dr. what I could use on my face to get it back to somewhat normal. I had not been able to wash my face & only used vaseline. At 3:00 that afternoon had still not heard from the office so called again. The nurse I spoke to could not find my chart & said it was probably on the Dr.s desk but assured me someone would call me back. I did finally receive a call after hours which appeared to be coming from a call center (a script). She had no clue why she was calling me & asked if I had another appt. set up & said yes in March. She said "oh well you can continue using the creme & when it get unbearable take a break then keep following that protocol until your appt. in March"! Then you will have completed your 2 x daily 4 week treatment. Really! A call center giving medical advice that conflicted the paperwork I had initially been given from Dr. Beaudry?? I never did receive a call back from Central Illinois Dermatology office at all!! No follow up or asking me to come in the office. It was a horrible unnecessary experience that also kept me housebound for almost a month! read more

Would not recommend and will not return. Dr. Frey was very rude and displayed poor bedside manner, even opening the door before I was fully dressed. When I asked for a full-body mole check, she was dismissive and performed the bare minimum. The entire visit lasted less than five minutes. read more

update to my last post. That happened eight days ago with the receptionist at Central Illinois Dermatology. I called today just now (Thursday December 2 3:45 pm) to cancel the appointment we had made so that I could go to Soderstrom instead and the same woman took my cancellation and then at the end hung up abruptly on me. It's either the same woman or maybe she had heard my name bantered as the one that was so demanding of kindness last week. There is some real anger coming out of this office. I do want to say that I am bummed not to have become a patient of Dr. Ashley Steffens because I had heard amazing things about her. I heard she is kind and takes a lot of time with her clients. If you can tolerate the meanness of the front desk I think she is a good one. read more

Front desk staff appeared overwhelmed whereby I felt rushed. Nurse appeared pushed for time as well and was in and out of the room quickly. Dr. Steffens took her time, answered all my questions and appeared empathetic to my situation. I could tell she was busy as well but did her job with compassion. read more

My bill was $200+ and the physician spent no more than 10 mins with me on my first (and only) visit. I felt unimportant and very rushed. I won't be back. read more
