I was a new patient in the Bend office today and want to share my experience. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Scheduling an appointment was fast and efficient. The office space is nice with a large selection of eyewear. All of the staff and the doctor were friendly and professional. The office seemed to have the latest technology in equipment for the exam. And I left with the feeling that I need to post here to let other people know about this location. read more

I rushed in the door 8 minutes late because I was giving someone CPR at the end of my nursing shift, my patient survived. The office refused to see me because I was late. I was promised there was no cancellation fee, and then I got a letter from a collections agency seeking my cancellation fee. Not even a call or a letter from the office, they sent me straight to collections. I will never pay it. What if that was a family member of someone that worked there? When do healthcare workers give healthcare workers some grace? Certainly not in the wake of life saving efforts... So much of what is wrong in healthcare can be found here and I can not support them. read more

Darn it! I wish I had read the reviews before I had my eyes examined. Very poor experience. The new contact prescription recommended left me seeing worse than when I walked in the office. They are being pressured by corporate to get through more patients in the day so the whole process felt very rushed. I had a hard time getting questions answered, the exam itself felt rushed, I didn't even realize that we were done because I was left standing in the back area. It was really odd. I ended up comparing my eyesight with the eye chart on the wall, new contacts versus the old contacts to determine which prescription was the best. Literally I was doing my own sight exam. The front desk person was super nice, but corporate is just pushing through too many patients on a day and the effect is sub par eyecare. :(( read more

I didn't read the reviews. Got examined, everyone friendly and seemed professional. Waited 3 months for my glasses to come. (Made sense during Covid.) Wrong prescription - but not by the glasses maker, it's was the Bend store machines. Was re examined - waited - again it was wrong. Then they sent me to the Redmond office to get measured. This was accurate and I finally got glasses. But not a word of explanation or even a simple business "I'm sorry". Avoid Bend office, go to Redmond or someplace else. I also got contacts - but it was a handful to try on. No special measuring, follow-up or assistance. They did really push the expensive eye vitamins the office sold at the front desk, saying they were necessary. Beware. I wanted to make them my eye place, but it was a six month long nightmare. read more

Avoid the bend location unless if you feel like checking in every week for the next two months after your visit. Don't understand what I am saying? Please read the service (or the lack of) they provided for me in regards to my 4 year old sons glasses. Back in August 9th, I had made an appointment at the Bend location. This was my sons second visit (his first visit was in Redmond which provided way better service) because he needed to get his full prescription glasses. During the visit, once the doctor had already expanded my son (no complaints to the doctor, she was awesome) we waited 15 (fifteen) minutes before a technician would assist us with my sons frames. Why fifteen minutes? Because the technician was too busy talking story with the receptionist. I know because I was sitting just a few foot steps away from them. After we picked his frames, of course the technician said it would take about 2 weeks for them to come in; that was fine, it was expected. Thankfully I made my appointment well in advance to get them and make another appointment with the doctor before we moved. WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE WAS BOOK THE APPOINTMENT TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCE BECAUSE IT IS NOW OCTOBER 18 AND I STILL DON'T HAVE HIS GLASSES!! So on September 4th at 3:50pm (the week before we were moving out of state), I called for an update. They said they would call me when they are in. I mentioned to them then that I was moving. The lady on the phone said it wouldn't be a problem. On September 13th at 11:19am after we had arrived to Colorado, I called again for an update and provided my new address. Lady on the phone assured no problem with shipment. On September 30th at 1:15pm (yes I have all my phone calls still recorded on my phone ;) ) I called for an update and that's when they told me my sons frames were back ordered. Okay not their fault but why couldn't they call me if they knew that? So the lady said they would be in soon and they would give me a call ( of course they lied and never did give me a call because I had to do that job for them.) Then on October 11th at 2:49pm I called again and same story. Frames were back ordered. That they would give me a call when they are in. Then at 3:15pm I receive a call saying "HI YOUR SONS GLASSES ARE IN YOU CAN COME IN AND PICK THEM UP ANYTIME BETWEEN 9-5!" So hold up, how long have my sons glasses have been available to pick up? Sometime between September 30th and October 11th they came in and I never got a call? Ummm.... so at this point I kindly reminded the lady to read my sons memos under his account because Um hello? We moved over 2 months ago! THEN SHE SAID I HAD TO PAY $15 for shipping. Fine. Whatever. JUST GIVE ME MY SONS GLASSES. He has been currently been wearing half of his prescription and we have been waiting for over two months for his full prescription. So it is now October 18th and I have yet to see his glasses. Like why did I pay $15 dollars for shipping for it not to be delivered express? Honestly if you want to do their job for them - go here. If you want exceptional service, like the one clients are supposed to have, go to the Redmond clinic. You'll save yourself the hassle. read more

Doesn't even really deserve one star. Multiple occasions I have called several times and not gotten an answer. Told me they would ship my contacts to my address, then preceded to leave me a voicemail saying to come pick them up in Bend (I am not physically in Bend!!!) Would really recommend to hire one or 2 other receptionists who actually communicate with each other on the shipping details of orders and how to get contacts/glasses to costumers more efficiently and promptly. I am now fed up because I am almost out of contacts since they did not get shipped to me. read more

I wouldn't recommend them if you're looking for a professional and caring experience. They seem most interested in selling you anything and everything you could imagine rather than understanding your needs and eye health. The actual doctor I saw, Dr. Decker, was great and seemed to be interested in me and my goals/needs, but the rest of the staff and optician areas seems most interested in selling and not personal touch. It came across as VERY UNPROFESSIONAL in two visits to the office. It seems to be the case with most reviews here lately that the staff is unprofessional and pushy with selling. I wish I would have looked at Yelp before going through with my appointment. I highly recommend you find a better provider/office that cares about the patient needs rather than a sales office that feels like you just walked onto a used car lot where they want to sell you the most they can as fast as possible. read more

I'm a bit confused with this place. The doctor was great and consultation went well. Everyone was professional at the front desk. But why did they take my money upfront for the glasses? Waiting two weeks and very difficult to get a hold of anyone. Out of every 7 calls you might get someone answer. Here's a top, if you can't get through call another number, one of their other branches outside of Bend. They will help you. read more

We went to Central Oregon Eyecare to utilize my wife's flex spending account before it expired (a few days after our visit). Our visit went off without a hitch and everything seemed fine. A few weeks later they called us and told us that they forgot to charge us for something and were adding another $55 to our bill. We explained that we only had the money to for their services due to the flex spending account and that was now expired. They told us that it was our responsibility to pay for the service, even though they didn't charge us for the service, and sent us to collections without any offer to work something else out. If they had done their job and charged us the right amount in the first place there would have been no problem. This is their mistake, not ours. I suggest avoiding this place. Even once you pay your bill, it has become evident that they will still send you to collections for something they decided to tack on later. read more

Doctor is great but staff is unprofessional, argumentative, and doesn't take responsibility for dropping the ball on 2 consecutive appointments and phone calls asking to speak with the doctor about possible eye trauma. Went in for a diabetic check up and all I received was a new knowledge of how messed up my eyes are.. no prescription for glasses was even given. Would give 0 stars if I could. A litany of problems. Most recently, refused to fill a prescription that they created that was only 1.5 year old. Everyone else in Bend it's 2 years or more. Also, they are almost never open. Closed in the middle of every day and Thursdays. But appointments are months out. Basically impossible to get sunglasses in the Summer. Toni Decker was very professional. They have the newest eye testing equipment I've seen to date, and everyone was very nice, BUT I'm on week 4 of waiting for my glasses, and they just told me there will be an additional two week wait. Not sure why it takes 6 weeks to make lenses for my glasses, but I doubt I'll be returning to the business because of this. Edit: Six weeks has come and gone, headed to seven weeks without glasses. Edit #2: Tomorrow makes 8 weeks with no glasses (fully paid for BTW), no updates, no anything. I've called multiple times and am given a different excuse each time. Edit #3: After listening to the phone cycle through their answering system for over 7 minutes they finally answered (this isn't far off typical, it cycles through 3 times minimum before anyone answers, every single time) they've finally quit trying to do their actual jobs and are in the process of refunding my money. This business is an absolute joke, 2+ months to be left at square one due to their incompetence. I'll tell anyone with ears what a shitshow this place is. Run away from this business as fast as you can and everyone you know should too. Unless you're just getting an eye exam, then they're actually pretty solid at their jobs. read more

Upselling and unprofessional staff. They have repeatedly miss quoted insurance coverage for out of pocket costs to upsell products at time of service. When confronted about the errors calls are not returned. This has been experienced by myself and my wife on different occasions showing a clear pattern of problems. Prices are much higher than online options. To be fair the doctor was good during the exam. Avoid this business at all costs. read more

Why fill out the questionnaire if the Dr. is not going to take the time to look at the information to see if there may be changes that could use more investigation? I scheduled an appointment waited weeks for the appointment went into the appointment and they said I did not have an appointment that my appointment was at a completely different location in sisters. At a completely different time. The receptionist was completely rude and did not even apologize for the mixup and could not even work me in in a timely manner for next appointment. RIPOFF ALERT. These "doctors" are actually just optometrists (like calling a chiropractor a Doctor). They run this like a car wash... move them through as fast as they can. Make as much money as they can. First, they charge you for the visit and if you have insurance, they collect that money too, then never offer you a refund. They just credit your account until the next time you come in... but what happens if you don't ever come in again? The other thing they do is ask you simple medical questions, most people answer them, thinking that it's just a normal procedure and part of the visit. The truth is, if they find that you have ANY kind of medical condition, they then bill you as if this was a visit to the Doctors office. The charge goes way up and... they make more money. This is a crooked operation, it's a racket and I DO NOT recommend them ever. Also, I'm sure Yelp will alert them and then they will do whatever they can to take this review down or bury it somewhere deep in the system. read more

Customer service at Prineville location is the worst I have ever experienced in any medical office. They say they will call you back and never do, so you show up in person to be ignored and told they will call you by the end of the day with an update on when your glasses will be in and they don't. My first visit to Central Oregon Eyecare, I was greeted by cheerful front desk staff who helped review my benefits. I was expecting to wait 20-30 mins to be seen because this is what I experience typically in most medical offices. I was pleasantly surprised when I was called back 2 mins after arrival! The assistant was very accommodating and took extra measures to make sure I was comfortably positioned for my eye exam. After my exam, I was escorted to the opticians' area to chose frames. I appreciated the wide variety of name brand frames that they had to choose from. They have high-quality brands such as Maui Jims, etc. The entire time I was picking my frames, the optician was extremely helpful and gave honest feedback. I never once felt rushed while I was being helped (and I tried on ALOT of frames). Central Oregon Eyecare is now my go-to for my vision needs. I highly recommend them. read more

This place has a really nice selection of frames. I particularly like the Etnia Barcelona line they have, but there are some other nice lines as well including Lindberg. Kylie went above and beyond the call of duty for me, helping with not one but two broken pairs of glasses and one rx that had to be changed from single vision to progressive. She is extremely helpful and very good at her job. Unlike some other establishments, they seem to really care about helping you get the right glasses that fit well and the right prescription. My glasses when I first got them were defective. The lenses were out of focus and I had requested lens that darkened in sunlight. They didn't. I sent the glasses back and they said they would correct the glasses. When I go the "new" glasses back it turned out they were the same glasses I had sent back! Nothing was done with them! read more

This is a lesson learned in not reading the reviews before choosing a medical professional. My 10 year old son went in for an eye exam and the Dr. dropped the bomb that he needed to be tested for glaucoma but their machine was broken so we would have to wait to have the test until their machine was repaired. Pretty important right? So I drove him to Redmond to have the test done...$99 and the promise that a tech would get back to me with results. I called the next day, no answer. I called later in the day and got a voicemail box so left a message. A girl who was "new" called back and said that the tech wasn't in to review the test and she didn't know when a tech would be in. I called the next day, again no answer. I left an voicemail again later in the day. Got two calls back, one while I was on the phone with the other with competing information. It's now 5 days later and I still haven't heard anything. I just called another eye professional in the area to have the test repeated and asked how long it would take to get the results and the answer was "the Dr. will talk to you at the completion of the test." Now that is what a nervous and frightened Mom wants to hear. I will be telling everyone about this experience. Shameful. read more

I had a 4:30pm visit scheduled. The office called me earlier that day, saying they'd had a cancellation, could I do them a favor and come in at 4pm? Sure, no problem. I arrived a few minutes before 4pm. Sat in waiting room til 4:15, then sat waiting, alone, in an exam room til 4:30(original appt time), all with NO explanation or apology. I walked into the office to resolve the issue in person. When I walked in, there was a woman working at the front desk who was busy working on receipts. AVOID THIS BUSINESS!!! Very unethical business practice and very rude business manager. Here's what happened....I stopped in to inquire on cost of an exam for soft contacts. I knew one of the eye doctors that recently transferred here from another location. The front desk person gave me the cost of exam and said they could get me in right away. So I received my eye exam from the technician and the follow up with the Doctor I had gone to before. She asked if I was happy with the contacts she fitted me a year ago and I said yes..."so why change them" was her response. Exam done....I proceeded to the front desk to pay for my exam and ordered two boxes of new contacts. I paid in full right there before I left. Two months later I received a bill from them for a balance owing..."for contact fitting" by the doctor. I received no fitting by the doctor...we just agree to stay with what was working. I have refused paying this "add-on" that was never received. Now we are going to court to resolved this issue! So I hope I can save you all the trouble I've had in dealing with this very unethical business. Take your business elsewhere!! So many other options! read more

I normally avoid posting bad reviews, however, I would like to warn others to avoid this place. I felt strung along and taken advantage of. I have had annual appointments for a medical condition since my teens and have never had an eye care office require more than one visit per year. This office expected me to go to 3 + appointments! I met with the doctor at the first appointment. The second appointment was a test. but no meeting with the doctor. After being told that the next appointment was for another test, and not to see the doctor, I thought it a bit ridiculous and cancelled it. Then, the billing department messed up and charged me full price for the visits. After speaking to my insurance company, i had to call the office back to explain that they actually were covered and to re-submit the billing. I thought about it some more and requested the office to never contact me again, but still got postcards, newsletters and emails (which I have since unsubscribed). This company needs to take a look at the way they run their office and try some new organizational methods and quit wasting people's time. read more

Prescription eyeglasses and fittings maybe. Eye Health use at your own risk. Retinal detachment and two horseshoe tears were overlooked at three appointments here, and I was told the changes and distortions in my vision were aging in my eye and I would adjust to them over time. Which is true; I would have simply lost the ability to see out of my eye over time had I not gone to a different clinic. The biggest concern I have is that my condition (retinal detachment and tears) is treatable, however the longer it goes untreated the less of an optimistic prognosis for restoring vision will be. Waiting and adjusting to this condition is a dangerous mistake. Also be warned the Camera that "replaces dilation" Does not see the whole peripheral eye, meaning sever problems can be overlooked. read more

I've got a new eye prescription and got new glasses from u guys and the service was great.. the only reason I gave u guys a two stars is because the way your billing is operated and it needs to change the money paid at the time of purchase should the price but it wasn't which is wrong.. Also when u guys bill vision insurance they also need to tell u what there going to cover.. but the ball falls In your court so u guys need to fix it.. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I went to Central Oregon Eyecare in Bend 1 1/2 years ago and saw Dr. Decker. I had my glasses made elsewhere because it was a third of the price. I lost my glasses during finals week and needed new glasses made asap. I contacted CO Eyecare to see if they would extend the prescription as they only wrote it for a year and explained my circumstance to the receptionist as to the urgency in needing glasses made that day for finals the next morning. She said she would ask Dr. Decker and get back to me. I waited 3 more hours and called the office as I hadn't heard back so I then left a voice message. I waited another hour and decided to drive down because I needed to have a prescription turned in the end of that day to have made in time. I then explained I needed the glasses for finals and Dr. Decker denied to have my prescription extended. I have no medical eye problems and wear glasses only when reading and at computer. She did not care about my predicament and the fact she had written me a prescription just 1 1/2 years prior. She did state could get me in the next day during the time of my finals which did not work. I since have been seen at another doctor. I am very happy now that I am going elsewhere. The difference in the front office staff and the caring of the doctor is night and day. I will NEVER go back to Central Oregon Eyecare or to Dr. Decker. read more

I'm getting ready to turn 42. I have noticed my eyes aren't what they once were. It had been 10 years since my last eye appointment. I was a little nervous and I hate having my eyes dilated. I chose this facility because it was close to the house and I had heard great things about them. The building is new and the facility is very clean and welcoming. The front staff are nice and professional. I made an appointment for a few days later. At my appointment I was very nervous. The staff put me at ease. I found out Central Oregon Eyecare offered a digital scan of my eye instead of the old fashion eye dilation that I hate. It was 35.00 out of pocket and worth every penny. They keep the scans on file and can note changes year to year Dr Decker was by far the best eye doctor I have ever seen. Turns out I have an astigmatism. Their eye glass selection was very large with many brands and styles to choose from. I definitely won't be waiting another ten years to go again. An eye exam with Dr Decker will be on my list every year. Thanks so much for making my visit great. I have received incredible, over-the-top customer service from these folks. I bought a pair of prescription sunglasses and found that they worked really poorly for what I intended to use them for: my biking and road riding. I thought I was stuck with these very expensive glasses, since I had chosen them. The owner of Central Oregon Eyecare heard of my dilemna, asked me to come in, helped me select new glasses and lenses, and let me return the unused glasses. These folks ROCK. I also am totally stoked at the level of professionalism and care Air receive when Toni Decker examines my eyes once a year. She detected the early stages of a serious, but treatable, eye disease in my husband--another optometrist had missed these symptoms. Thank you CO Eyecare! read more

I switched to CO Eyecare because it's one of only a few of my insurance co's preferred providers. Toni Decker was great -- did a very thorough exam, suggested scheduling appointments in such a way as to keep my copay amounts as low as possible and was top notch all around. I'm happy with the prescription glasses I received there. The office staff is polite but needs some work in terms of efficiency. Dr. Decker wanted to have a test done that could only be done in another office, 20 miles from my home. Her staff scheduled the wrong test to be done in that office, so it meant going back a second time. I was told someone would call in a couple of days with results. I received no call and when I went in for my next appointment, I asked for the results. They thought they'd left a message, but hadn't. Turns out I failed the test and had to make the 20 mile drive for a third time. Again, called to get results a week later and was told they still needed to be interpreted and a tech would call me. Please be aware of the practices of this Eyecare Gallery. I will say Dr. Decker was great although what seemed like a little pre- occupied with something else and the person that fitted me with my glasses was great but, as I found out later very much overpriced. I purchased both eyeglasses and contacts and was quoted a highly inflated rebate - said it would be $300 but actually was just $120 which was why I ordered what I did. Had I known it would only be $120 I would not have ordered from them - cheaper other places. When I got my glasses the lenses or something that made up the lenses was upside down, so they were sent back - 3 week later I got them and they are still not right. Also under quoted the amount I would pay and after calls and letter would not give me the accounting of my bill. Just kept calling telling me I needed to pay my bill without showing me what the insurance paid and what I paid so I could verify. I believe I was not treated fairly and was over charged for my eye ware as well the appointment. Will not be returning. read more
