This Bank of Hawaii is located in Safeway in the Maui Lani Shopping Center. I come to this branch…read moreof BOH more often than others because it's super convenient (close to where I work), they're open late (until 6pm), and open 7 days a week (yes, including Sunday folks!). It's similar to their Kahului in-store Safeway branch as well. Not too bad of wait on most days. They usually get everyone in and out pretty fast so the line moves quickly. Just make sure to fill out your deposit/withdrawal slips on either side (left or right) of the counter ahead of time. If you can't remember your account numbers like me, they'll help you out, no problem. If you're in a rush you can use the ATM to the right of the counter to do the basics (deposit, withdrawal, balance inquiry, etc). Overall, service is really friendly and they try to make small talk. In fact, I don't remember ever getting bad service here? Kudos to them for maintaining a smile throughout the day! I also like that I can notify them that I'm traveling out of the country and they'll put in the request for me so that my cards aren't blocked should I need to use the ATM while traveling :)

This is my favorite BOH outlet on Maui. The hours are surprisingly flexible but more importantly,…read morethe team members here invariably kind and patient. Bank lines can be notoriously slow but somehow this location deviates from the norm. Bank manager Ben went above and beyond to help me out in a pinch.

So I usually love this credit union but a few weeks back I got an email stating that they're going…read moreto be "upgrading their systems" March 1-4th. My coworker who is also a member, tells me the other day that she was told verbally that members can only use up to $200 a day also on March 1st-4th. What upsets me is that most everyone gets paid and/or pays their bills the beginning of the month so why would they choose to upgrade their systems the beginning of the month versus the middle of the month? It's so silly let alone the $200 a day thing. I never use checks so now I'm kicking myself for not ordering checks with them. Lesson learned. To add insult to injury, I went online to access my account today 2/29/2024 not 3/1/2024 and online banking is already unavailable. Their app is also down already. This is so disappointing Full disclosure, I hate writing bad reviews but do better Maui County FCU so you don't lose customers.

MCFCU has finally upped their game and gone digital, somewhat. Add a star!…read more MOBILE APP: This is what I've been waiting for! Account-to-account transfers, up-to-date account information (for balancing) and mobile deposits. Of course I have a few complaints. One of them is that some cleared checks don't have an image of the check, a very useful feature should you forget who the check was for (or wasn't told by your spouse who is was for). Another err is the verbiage of automatically deducted items with their bundled abbreviations and words which can be very confusing. Sometimes the mobile deposit can be ornery, resulting in multiple, frustrating attempts. Aside from those quirks it works fine. CHECKING ACCOUNT: Yes, we still rock personal checks! The main reason for me is that I don't like automatic deductions for bill payments. If businesses don't offer online payment, you'll be getting a personal check from me, all while supporting the USPS. Unlike at my traditional bank, reordering checks couldn't be done online but via phone automation which was surprisingly efficient. But, should you need to make any changes, you'd have to speak to a live person at Harland-Clarke. SERVICE: No matter if I call or present in-person, everyone has been awesome. I always experience a very personalized style of service. TIP: No-fee ATM withdrawals can also be made at First Hawaiian Bank locations (limited per month). OVERALL: While some requests still need to be done in-person for security and signature's sake, they're on a positive roll.
