We received a welcome as warm as any of our own aunts could or would have given us, including an offer to put our heat-&-humidity-drenched clothes outside our room so innkeeper Michelle could pop them in the washer and dryer. We've stayed at over 100 B&Bs all over the country, and this one is one of the very best. The building looks a bit plain from the street but is full of amazing woodwork and stained glass inside. Our room was spacious, well laid out, and immaculately clean. The bed was so comfortable we had one of the best rests so far this trip. Breakfast was so wonderful we took a photo for our travel blog. We had mentioned the night before how hard it was to find good fresh vegetables at restaurants and cafes in the Midwest. Well, we had a zucchini, spinach and cheese omelet and a grilled tomato with goat cheese, plus lgrilled apple slices lightly dusted with cinnamon sugar, all from of course fresh ingredients. Wow! We strongly urge cyclists to check this place out. In fact, go way out of your way for this one. It's 2 blocks from an OK restaurant and just under 15 miles from the north end of the Rock Island Bike Trail, a good rail trail to or from Peoria. You'll find friendly, helpful hosts in Michelle & Glen, and have a stay worth writing about.

Yes, according to formal fine print I gave less than 24 hours notice for one of the nights. Yes, formally I agreed they could do that. That doesn't make it right. They didn't even offer to let me book at a different date to make up for it. So I'm out about $100. Goodbye My Place, hello Vrbo.

We were able to wash and dry a load of laundry for less than $5. Turn left out of the parking lot, and there are tons of food options within walking and driving distance.

Not that close to downtown but perhaps that is a plus. The room itself was nice and again what we were expecting. One downside was the AC was hard to adjust - we finally figured out after the first day that you had to set it seven degrees warmer than you wanted it or you'd freeze! The breakfast actually was a bit subpar for FI - not as many choices. Felt like they cheaped out on breakfast to cut costs. A good price for a solid stay.

My room was great-- spacious corner room with a nice little sitting area and nice bathroom. I visited The River Room while here (it's a nice upscale looking bar on the top floor). There aren't many actual food options here, but they also have a little area in the lobby for food too, which I visited and found out is where the Heather meals are! Wish I would have known that before paying for a first "dinner." The hotel itself was very quiet and the bed was comfortable so I got a good night's sleep. All in all, it was fine and I did enjoy the room.

We've had some absolutely stellar stays in the past and we've had some less great stays more recently. I wonder if this current trending downward is here to stay but I certainly hope not because we really love so much about this place. Pros: *This place really is lovely and has a great location right on the Mississippi River. *Room options are plentiful. I love that there are suites available. When traveling with kids I really appreciate having a little bit more space for all of our mental wellbeing! *They offer an indoor pool, lots of parking, and a decent gym. *Breakfast daily-- great breakfast space. *Great location for the Quad cities. Easy to access the Illinois or Iowa side. *Staff in the past have gone out of their way to make it a great experience for us. So kind and helpful. Cons: *This place isn't as great as it used to be and I worry it'll deteriorate if some changes aren't made. *Their breakfast is definitely lacking. (For example the scrambled eggs are foamy and weird. Lots of processed options. French toast/waffles/bread options are really flavorless and don't taste super great. Coffee tastes burnt. Canadian bacon for the meat option of the day is just weird. We didn't see regular bacon any of the 3 mornings of our stay.) *Not a lot of overseeing/managing of crowds in shared spaces such as the pool. So many kids unsupervised and screaming in the pool area makes it impossible to enjoy. *Staff is friendly but this trip they weren't going over and above to make it memorable. Felt detached. *Repeatedly no towels in the pool area. Creates hazards in the hallway with so much water everywhere. *Many of the workout machines in the gym were not working. *Asked for a high floor - booked in advanced - and received a room on the 2nd floor. *Had a noise issue on our first night that spanned hours into the 1am hour and reached out to the staff via the texting on a phone option and didn't receive a response until the next morning. (Though I did call at 1am to the front desk and they came up and took care of the issue. Front desk morning staff also responded via their text option the next day.)

I had the espresso martini which was so delicious. My husband enjoyed the old fashion, as well as the whisky tasting. We are visiting from AZ, so took a couple of bottles home to enjoy with friends and family. The staff is very friendly and made sure to come outside to see how we were doing. They also answered our questions regarding the assorted drinks and their whiskey/vodka. They have a great variety to choose from. See you next year!!
