Central Square Florist is my favorite florist in the Boston area. I've gotten countless arrangements from here, and the ordering process and delivery have always been flawless. CSF did the flowers for our wedding, and I could not have asked for a better experience. I only had a color palette in mind and trusted them to work their magic. Everything from the bouquets to the centerpieces to the fresh flowers cascading down the cake were works of art. We got tons of compliments from guests, and they'll be forever treasured in our wedding photos. A fourth generation family-owned business and Cambridge institution, I know I'll be getting flowers from CSF for years to come!

Central Square Florist has now done an amazing job with my zoom wedding during Covid (after which we had a professional photo shoot at the beach), my wedding reception post Covid, and my dad's celebration of life just recently. Central Square Florist always listens to what I want, and then they do an amazing job making my vision a reality. They are so easy to work with, and the process of paying and receiving flowers is so seamless as well. Jackie, one of the owners there, went out of her way to deliver the flowers for my dad's celebration of life during a time Central Square Florist was actually closed. It's little things like this that remind you that you're dealing with a family owned florist who is willing to go the extra mile. After learning of my uncles passing hours before the service, I placed an order with Central Square Florist, in the hopes that I could have flowers sent in time for the viewing. They not only did an extra delivery after hours, but supplied a stunning arrangement for the service. The level of customer service and willingness to go the extra mile is unparalleled. A web search brought me to the Central Square Florist (617-354-7553) for a specific flower arrangement and delivery. They created the orange themed arrangement to serve as a reminder that the floral recipient was a proud Syracuse University graduate. The delivery person knocked and WAITED for the recipient to get to the door. He is not as fast as he was when he played in the Orange Bowl for Syracuse. The card had the correct birthday message "word for word". Central Florist made two people very happy: the birthday flower recipient and the sender. I ordered a sympathy dish garden for same day delivery to a friend. It was a bit costly but I did request same-day delivery so there was an extra fee. In the end my friend loved it and said it was the highlight of a difficult week, so it was well worth it. Central square florist provided timely delivery and it was super easy to complete the order online. I also appreciate the ability to accumulate rewards with repeat orders. Given my good experience I would order from this florist again in the future. read more

A quick FYI, this location will no longer blow up balloons you bring in (only ones purchased in their shop). I've always brought balloons here (giant, tiny, mylar, confetti filled... you name it), so I didn't twice about stopping in before a baby shower and then ended up in a real jam. Just wanted to provide the update to hopefully save you from ending up in the same spot! Otherwise, Central Sq Florist continues to do what they do best and I'd still highly recommend them for flowers. read more

I can't believe this place only has 17 reviews! This is only for the web site and online floral ordering, as I have yet to visit the storefront. So, I'm still slowly but surely recovering from my recent New Zealand holiday (**and please be on the lookout for future Yelp reviews and a list of all my Kiwi finds). I've been so caught up in my back from vacay craziness that I almost forgot to send a birthday present to one of my closest friends (and NZ travel buddy) who lives and works in the Cambridge area. Of course, I look up Cambridge florists on my beloved Yelp, and Central Square Florist pops up. The web site is user-friendly and so easy to navigate and categorized by special occasions, flower types, etc., Prices are reasonable, and even offer same day delivery. Since daisies are my friend's fav flower, I ordered a lovely arrangement with white and yellow ones in a glass bubble bowl. Placed my order with an extra $10 delivery fee (and vary depending on neighborhood) at 8:30pm (PST). Immediately, I received an email confirmation of my order, and anxiously awaited an email for delivery confirmation. So, I hoped for the best, and the next day at 7:36am (PST), that delivery confirmation email was received in my inbox. YAHOO! My friend loved the beautiful daisy arrangement, which looks pretty much like the picture and description on the web site (as sometimes, you can never really know how it'll turnout, right?). I'm so glad the delivery came in the nick of time and helped make the birthday girl feel even more special and loved! Thank you Central Square Florist! Thank you to Jackie and her team for a fabulous job on our wedding flowers. They were so beautiful and exactly what we wanted. It was a 90-degree day in May when we were married and Jackie's team was flexible with the delivery of the flowers and gave tips on managing the flowers in the hot weather. We received so many compliments on the flowers at the reception and the flowers really enhanced our photographs. I love buying flowers here. They often have discounted bouquets when the flowers are on their way out / already bloomed. I've gotten a dozen roses or a bouquet of large carnations for $5 each. The flowers also always last a very long time after I get home, over a week usually. read more

I've been a long time customer and absolutely love Central Square Florist! I cannot recommend them enough. I've included just a few photos of all the beautiful arrangements they've created over the last year. In all my arrangements I only had one which (although stunning) lasted only a few days because of the peony variety. Great people! I stopped by today upon seeing a sign offering a free rose to anyone who goes by "Nikhil" - as a name of Indian origin, it's somewhat rare to see the name out in public. Despite having an unruly, larger dog, air pods in both ears, and being actively engaged in a phone conversation - the Central Square Florist family was polite, friendly, and super eager to help. Walked in, grabbed a bouquet of flowers and headed to the register. Considering I was the only customer in the shop, and was trying to complete the lowest maintenance purchase possible I really didn't get the attitude I caught from the woman at the counter. After some huffing and puffing she handed off to a younger girl who was super nice and did the actual work of wrapping and ringing it up. What really bothered me was finding out afterwards that the flowers, including just the pollen were super toxic to cats and had to throw them out early. I mean, I'll take some of the blame as a cat owner that I should maybe know this. But I'm not a flower expert. The florists are flower experts. Like most people I'm just running in there to buy something that looks nice and get out. Put a sticker on it. A sign, whatever. Act like you're an expert and warn people appropriately. read more

Great website. Ordered huge bouquet of tulips for hostess of Easter brunch which was sadly cancelled due to a child's illness. Was concerned flowers left at the door might be overlooked. Followed up with florist Monday morning and was totally satisfied with the system of phone message/text when recipients aren't home for the delivery. Excellent service. History

Established in 1929.

Central Square Florist was first established in 1929 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In the 1940s, Morris Gamer, purchased the flower shop. His nephew and present owner of the business, Myron Levine, began working there while he attended Boston English High School in 1952. In the early 1960s, Myron purchased the shop and in 1982 his wife Sandra joined the business. Their son, David Levine (third generation), is now in charge of the day-to-day operations of the shop as his parents have recently retired. David is supported by a staff of floral designers, customer service representatives, and delivery drivers. His first exposure to the flower business was at 12-years-old when he would help out by sweeping and ringing up sales on the cash register. Today, David's daughter Jackie (4th generation) works alongside him. His other daughter Michelle helps out as well. In May 2015, Central Square Florist was named Cambridge Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year.

I probably wouldn't go here again unless I was looking for a cactus or succulent, and even then there's slim pickings.

The arrangement was beautiful and perfect for the occasion. When it dried, my daughter kept it. When my daughter was given the responsibility of getting flowers for a work reason, she recommended Hanaya Floral. They could do a much better job for the budgeted price. I do not live near this florist, but I asked her help when a dear friend was terminally ill and I wanted to send a very special arrangement. My friend and her husband were NYC sophisticated with artistic sensibilities. Hanaya Floral discussed an arrangement with a local to the patient florist who delivered an awesome arrangement. When my spouse and I were in Cambridge we stopped by Hanaya Floral in person. The owner is a gentle soul and made us feel welcome even though we were not shopping for an arrangement at that time. This place feels more like a scam operation. We placed an order and paid in full in August. The sales people felt badly about the situation, but the owner would not consider absorbing any of the increase as "he was already losing money on it". I contacted the manufacturer who said that was not the case and referred me to another store out of state. That store charged me the same price I had originally paid.

Although there was stiff competition from many competing retailers: Crate & Barrel (former Design Research space), Heartwood, Bowl and Board, The Home Design Store, Dynasty Furniture, later BoConcept, etc., (no DWR at that time), City Schemes consistently had the most practical, stylish, and accessible selections. Over the years, I had bought a desk, dining table, bed, and night tables, and was always fully satisfied with all aspects of the purchase. I've since moved to Brookline. The Italian Stefano Cavazzana platform bed I bought in 2008, somehow the metal frame warped, due probably to excess or uneven weight/stress. At first I despaired to be able to replace it, since I love the bed, so before doing any kind of internet search I contacted the Sales Dept at City Schemes...long story short about 2 months later and for $250 delivered and tipped, I have an exact replacement frame!! The store keeps immaculate records of all sales, I did have my original receipt as well, but in my mind it was a long shot this was ever going to work out, and that it did so, and so perfectly, is a commendation to this store and the way they stand behind their products. I would have HATED to through the hassle of needing a new bed, or searching for hours and hours to find the correct replacement platform if I even could have?? Thank you Joanne and everyone involved. My grandfather passed in the beginning of the month. And as many know getting arrangements done are really tricky especially with all the other jobs that need to get completed for a funeral service. I tried many locations and they weren't picking up. I called Central Square Florist and the woman I spoke to was very professional and met my needs and confirmed the spelling due to different language being used. I had many questions and apologized multiple times because I had never had to order an arrangement prior. I called the day before and they were very accommodating and understanding, when I saw the arrangement and saw that my vision came to life, I knew I wouldn't go anywhere else for future arrangements they went above and beyond and gave me exactly what I wanted. WAS excited to order from this place after reading the reviews. Ordered a box of roses with greens for Valentine's Day for a surprise. When I picked it up, it came in a white box! Wtf its freaking Valentine's Day. Your website shows a black box or at least doe thing desirable. No worries and didn't open it since there was a bow on it. Picked up my fiancé from the train station and surprised her with a box of flowers (didn't open it yet). After arriving home, We opened it and another disappointment. Absolutely incredible service and amazing flowers. Flowers are the same if not better than the pictures. The first time I ordered with them the building I was delivering to had horrible shipping procedures. The owners of CSF got on the phone with me and guaranteed that the flowers got to their host. They figured that the flowers must have been a day or two old at the delivery building's holding place and they delivered a fresh set to make sure that my recipient would have the best quality available without me asking or saying anything. If you want great flowers guaranteed, go with CSF. No other place will provide the satisfaction and quality of service that CSF gives you. It's a no brainer. read more

I can't say thank you enough. My daughter just received her arrangement "pooch party" and it is just as it was pictured, if not even a little better than pictured. She was thrilled with it and I am so glad that it got there when you said it would. This is her first birthday away from home ( she is a college freshman) .
