We stopped in for an early dinner on a Monday and were delighted to find the bar with plenty of tables. We were greeted and seated immediately, but the service fell apart after that. The bartender was covering the whole place, but only one other group was having drinks. I don't usually worry when servers don't write down your order, but this lad didn't get anything right and never came back to check on us. Even after walking to the bar to ask for another drink and telling him our order wasn't right, he didn't bring us more drinks. We had to return to the bar a second time and ask before someone else finally brought us drinks. We ordered the cauliflower wings and feta bruschetta for starters, and once we got the right food, they were pretty good. But our main course, veg stir fry, and curry were both utterly bland. Great place to have a couple pints. Good food too. Highly recommend the pie of the day and the seafood chowder. Great for lunch or dinner.

One star for an excellent shiraz/viognier. 0 stars for seared scallops that were barely intoducedto heat let alone seared. 0 stars for sea bass with Thai spices - the spices were non existent, the fish was sad, the rice that came with it was disgusting, I was sadder. And to top everything off the lamb shank was way over cooked. The poor lamb gave its life for a reason, not to end up in the bin. Maybe there are good things at this place, but the food that I had was not. The restaurant was pretty full as was the bar downstairs and nobody looked quite as unhappy as my wife and I. read more

Was our nice night out. Wife and I loved it. Servers were very friendly. Got the 12oz ribeye and loved it. Wife got the chicken and loved it. Once of the best steaks I have had so would recommend it to anyone. read more

After honeymooning in London for 6 days we had made it to Ireland where we'd stay for 10 days and travel all over. We stayed in Ballycastle for 2 nights and after we ate here the first night, we knew we couldn't chance going else where and had to eat here again! After our honeymoon was over we agreed that our two meals at Central Wine Bar were our best meals on our entire honeymoon and some of the best food we've ever eaten. Our first night we were sat at a small table in two large comfy armchairs and there was lovely live Irish music right next to us. That night we ordered the Chicken Lousiana and the Chicken Pollo Lorenzo. Although both were delicious the Pollo Lorenzo was the winner. Also the garlic & herb comber potatoes might literally be the best thing I ever eaten. That night we also had an apple based dessert that was very good. The next night we were seated at a high but comfy table with a view of the singer/guitarist who was providing the live music for that evening. My husband & I shared a burger, also amazing, and the Pollo Lorenzo with comber potatoes again. To finish we shared the sticky toffee pudding and we agreed it was the best version we tried on our trip. Do not miss out an opportunity to eat here, I know I'll remember our two cozy dinners here for years to home. Lovely dinner at Central Bar. Nice Sunday Roast, Meatballs, and Hake. Friendly staff and an overall nice dinner.

Very good food. But the service is not acceptable. First, they tried to squeeze 5 of us into a small circular table in a completely empty restaurant. Then they forgot to bring our drinks - had to ask. The final straw was they forgot to prepare one of our dishes to a very hungry kid! We had to wait for it to be prepared. read more

To our delight there was a table just in front the fire place, the smell of turf is amazingly cozy and for that alone I would recommend coming here. I went in for lunch and had the best clam chowder I've ever eaten. The interior had the classiest, coziest, best atmosphere. Kenny Rogers dropped in for a visit not long ago, I heard. Game of Thrones cast come here often when they're shooting in the area, which apparently is all the time. And you've got the friendliest staff here!
