I heard about Huey's a year or so ago when it opened and we were finally able to stop in the Friday after Thanksgiving around 10am. For the first 30 min or so, we had the whole place to ourselves after which several other families came to play. Huey's is new, bright, very clean and has great facilities for nursing/restrooms, and activity area for classes/camp activities and birthday parties. There are two floors of play areas with an elevator available for those in need. The size feels just right for the area, not enormous, but certainly big enough for 20-25 kids to play at one time. I can't stress enough the quality of the exhibits/play areas here. Most of the play areas are right on par with large city children's museums. We live in Madison and Cleveland now, respectively, and visit the CMs there and we were both quite impressed with the offerings at Huey's. No, there isn't an enormous, elaborate climbing gym or a water play room here, but that sort of thing would bust almost any budget and - let's be honest - the kids don't care as long as what IS there is fun and new and that is definitely true of Huey's. I love that Huey's isn't trying to copy other places, but rather to highlight attributes of the Taylor County area like agriculture, manufacturing, and the outdoors which are the focus of several exhibits. There are the standard exhibits like grocery store and doctors office which are very well done, but also some great unique ones. Our favorites were the barn/chicken coop area, the fishing pond, dentist office and the hair salon! There is even a great little gift shop area with adorable Huey's merchandise for purchase along with a nice assortment of educational toys and of course SNACKS. There are a couple of small picky things I'd improve: - moving the pretend flower garden lower to the floor since at the age of kids likely to play with this they are too short to reach - fix up the dark room area as some of the exhibits didn't seem to work and the pipe wall was missing several magnets Overall Huey's is a breath of fresh air that you won't find the likes of almost anywhere in Northern Wisconsin. This place is such an amazing addition to my hometown and a high-quality, affordable afternoon of fun for the kids. Definitely recommend making a stop there if you're in town and even driving in from surrounding areas for a day trip; you won't be disappointed.

The museum is in the old TB Scott Public Library, which I remember as a kid. Each room is set up depicting its function in history. I love the one room schoolhouse. There is also a room dedicated to the cranberry industry- one of the leading industries in this area. It is important to show our children this rich part of our history. Another favorite is the area featuring Grim Natwick, creator of Betty Boop. The museum is free - donations accepted. It is open year round with specific hours. Their is always an eager volunteer time share information and insights with you.

The owner of the museum gave 15 of us a two-hour tour, looking at and explaining at least 200 of the 500+ cars on site. He is a walking book of knowledge about automotive history. The owner's love is for Alpha Romero's, but there are dozens of other brands on display, including some American cars, Corvette, Pontiac, Packard, Rambler, Corvair, and Cadillac. If you like cars, this is a must-see for you and your car friends!

We had children in the car and his anger was over the top for someone running a business where tourists are supposed to be welcome. He practically attacked us, he was so unhinged! We came on a weekday morning with 3 toddlers who were very excited to see some airplanes, and that's exactly what they did! There was thousands of them! If you or someone in your family is a fan of airplanes/helicopters, this is the place for you. We had so much fun touring the different aircrafts, watching the planes and helicopters fly, and people watching! The parking situation at the designated lot was easy, and from there they have buses running to the actual show grounds. This space is HUGE -- wear comfortable shoes! There are trams running periodically up and down the main road, but once it becomes busy they are few and far between - we ended up walking all of it (with a wagon for the kiddos). We probably experienced 5% of the offerings at the airshow, but wow did we have fun. If you've got a toddler, I recommend grabbing some noise cancelling headphones so they can enjoy the fighter jets if you're lucky enough to catch a show! We enjoyed some popcorn, ice cream, pretzels, and frozen lemonade while wandering around. Delicious classic fair food that was reasonably priced. We can't wait to come back as our son gets older and continue to make memories here!

But as far as the Houdini exhibit, I wasn't blown away. Several of the interactive pieces were not working. I did enjoy that you could get inside some of the items, like the milk can and a straight jacket, but I wouldn't recommend a trip here just for the Houdini exhibit. The History Museum at the Castle does have other exhibits, which depending on what's in house could make your visit more worthwhile.

The Woodson family were rich dudes who are from Wausau and when they wanted to do something with all their money, they turned their estate into an art museum. The main focus of this museum is on birds. Bird drawings, Bird pictures, bird sculptures, the gardens are filled with various sculptures including Birds. The museum is beautiful, the grounds are exquisitely nice. They would be a great setting for a movie or maybe your wedding. But, truthfully, although the paintings and pictures were wonderful after seeing the hundredth picture of birds I knew I had enough. However if you are an aficionado of paintings, sculpture and birds this is a must-see museum. The museum is free and the staff is helpful. I was a little bummed that the museum shop only sold postcards and books. I'm sure if they sold faux paintings and faux sculptures they could make a killing. This museum is highly recommended. If you are in Wisconsin or near Wausau it's worth your time.
