There's a huge stock of books, dvds, videos etc a large mens clothing and shoes area and lots of toys, gifts and bedding etc. The baby clothes are from as little as 20p per item, I've kitted out my wardrobe from this shop. It is so busy and a real community area where people meet and chat and everyone is friendly. All the staff except the manageress are volunteers and it's for a very worthwhile cause. (the cottage hospice has about 14 shops in total)

I've found more than a few bargains in this shop, and they stock a wide range of goods including bric-a-brac, toys, shoes, books, clothes, household wares, and more recently they have started to sell small PAT tested electrical items. One of the great things about this shop is that they don't overprice items, recently I have noticed charity shops have been becoming very expensive and sometimes it ends up that you're better off buying something new in a cheap shop such as Primark than a second hand item. This is not the case in here, items are always very fairly priced. Look out for the bargain rail which is usually outside the shop when the weather is good enough - it is filled with items of clothing for 75p which have been in the shop for a set period of time - a sort of a clearance rail!

And right now The Royal Society is funding research, meetings and outreach to shape the 21st and 22nd centuries too. You can't join without first being nominated as like one of the best scientists ever or something. But you CAN visit the society for wonderful public talks, presentations from young scientists from around the country and for historical exhibitions in the disgustingly gorgeous libary. The Kohn Centre in the Society recently hosted a talk with Douglas Melton, the Head of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. The set up matched perfectly with the event, from the reception hall exhibition to the paintings on the Centre Walls. This led me to explore the venue hires... Surprisingly such a luxurious place, with 1500 fellows including 70+ Nobel Laureates, it has a modest cost for public venue hire, esp. those with charity status, compared with those of the Royal Institution of Great Britain. Although a membership only working place, the Society opens to public with limited guided tours and a serious of interesting public lectures. These are the last days of the Exhibition: "The Royal Society: 350 Years of Science" featuring a number of treasures from the Royal Society's extensive collections of archives, rare books, artefacts, and portraits. I particularly liked the women scientists section. It is a fortune that the society offers library facilities (70,000+titles) free to public (registration required) and the reading rooms have wireless internet. Avoid Brixton Cycles: Unacceptable Service and Rude Staff…read more Dear Potential Customers, I am writing to share my extreme frustration and disappointment with the service I received from Brixton Cycles. I brought my bike in for a repair that was promised to be completed within 2 to 5 days. However, it has now been over 9 days, and every time I call for an update, I am told the bike is not ready, but they will look at it right now. This has been the case for the past 4 days, causing me significant inconvenience and additional commuting costs. This is the second time I have used Brixton Cycles services, and both times the service has been delayed and mishandled. On this occasion, I called around 18:40 to inquire if my bike was ready. A woman informed me that it was not, but she could look at it. I expressed my frustration and asked how this could be, as every time I call, I get the same response. She then started saying she is not responsible for her colleagues' work and will not take accountability for their failures. She repeatedly talked over me, preventing me from explaining that I needed the bike ready before my holiday, which now forces me to rent a bike, incurring additional costs. The lack of responsibility and basic customer service skills displayed by the staff at Brixton Cycles is unacceptable. I cannot understand how a company allows such disorganized and dysfunctional behavior to persist. The employee's refusal to take any form of accountability and her disrespectful attitude reflect poorly on the business. As a customer, I am understandably furious. Not only have I been lied to repeatedly, but I have also been disrespected and ignored. To make matters worse, when I tried to explain my situation, the call was transferred to another employee who also talked over me and eventually hung up on me. When I rushed to the store, there was no one available to address my concerns. This level of service is beyond unacceptable. I have worked in customer service for 5 years, and I am appalled at the way I was treated. It is evident that the team at Brixton Cycles lacks basic customer service skills and manners. Such behavior should not be tolerated, and it is clear that there are significant issues within the company's culture and operations. I will never again take my bike to Brixton Cycles or advise any of my friends and family to use their services. It is incredible that this generation of young people has no social or professional skills to deal with customers, especially when customers have every right to be angry. I demand a resolution to this situation. I expect my bike to be repaired immediately. I don't even want any compensation for the additional costs I have incurred, nor a formal apology for the rude and unprofessional behavior of the staff because it is clear that Brixton Cycles allows this as part of its company culture. If these issues are not addressed promptly, I will have no choice but to take further action, including sharing my experience on social media and review platforms. Awesome job and kept most of the original spec by sourcing stuff for me. It is a great shame that this shop has to fight for a space in the ever growing moneyed mono-cultured Brixton And whats more suffer idyat people buying bikes on line then expecting a bespoke mending service for a basically rubbish bike - something I observed a while ago when I was in there. I used my trusty app to locate a watch repair shop near by and wondered down. I was however very aware of the fact that I was in Chelsea and heading to quite a suave Watch shop who did repairs, not repair shop that did watches. We arrived and I knocked on the door - a gentlemen came over and unlocked the door and I explained why I was there. The gentleman invited me in and asked what watch it was and I told him, Michael Kors. He replied - 'Ah, usually we wouldn't but I used to work for them so go on then...' He measured my wrist and headed downstairs. Within 5 minutes he had taken out the links and my watch fitted beautifully. I asked 'how much?' and he said no charge - no charge, in Chelsea! Winning! And off I went! Great customer service, polite and welcoming gentleman and my beautiful watch now sits perfectly on my list! HAPPY.
