They have their own varieties of Columbian beans. Staff was very helpful and told us about how the profits are invested back into local social projects, so others can benefit. They promote ethical sourcing, biodiversity and sustainability. You can choose the bean for your coffee, or just get a cappuccino which I did and it was delish. A few spots to sit and some pastries to purchase.

It was certainly a good choice, because this cake ended up in my top 3 of best cakes I've ever had! I think my mum chose a salted caramel cake and my partner chose a salmon sandwich. We all decided to go for coffee/cappuchinos that were also very good! We all loved everything! The inside of the cafe was also quite lovely and it's also bigger than it looks from outside. What I like about the paper is that it doesn't pull its punches yet at the same time caters for a wider variety of tastes. It's one of the few community papers that takes a firm stance on things that matter to people living in central London. The paper has interviews with local celebrities, analysis of local political issues. It's not afraid to have a go at big business. It doesn't moan about them. It attacks them! The letters' page is full of opinions about anything and everything in Fitzrovia. If you live, work in or visit Fitzrovia, it's essential reading.

Needless to say, I briefly thought of purchasing it. This branch has a good selection with some vintage pieces thrown in. I only buy vintage. Vintage is cooler than thrift. I sometimes buy vintage from 2007 in charity shops, but it is not thrift..It is VINTAGE. Yes Dahling, Vintage 2007. This store also sells Eco seed bars and Divine Chocolate. There is very, very small selection of crap jewellery and a good selection of bags including one hot VINTAGE red one, which is probably 5 years old. I am just so up and coming.

I never really have enough patience for the clothes. Oxfam sell books for really cheap though, less than £3 often and the stock is usually pretty interesting. The prices they set are unbelievably low compared to some other well known charities. You can pick up designer jeans for £3 and designer tops for as little as £2 each. There's a huge stock of books, dvds, videos etc a large mens clothing and shoes area and lots of toys, gifts and bedding etc. The baby clothes are from as little as 20p per item, I've kitted out my wardrobe from this shop. It is so busy and a real community area where people meet and chat and everyone is friendly. All the staff except the manageress are volunteers and it's for a very worthwhile cause. (the cottage hospice has about 14 shops in total)

I've found more than a few bargains in this shop, and they stock a wide range of goods including bric-a-brac, toys, shoes, books, clothes, household wares, and more recently they have started to sell small PAT tested electrical items. One of the great things about this shop is that they don't overprice items, recently I have noticed charity shops have been becoming very expensive and sometimes it ends up that you're better off buying something new in a cheap shop such as Primark than a second hand item. This is not the case in here, items are always very fairly priced. Look out for the bargain rail which is usually outside the shop when the weather is good enough - it is filled with items of clothing for 75p which have been in the shop for a set period of time - a sort of a clearance rail!

However, I don't know if I caught someone in a bad mood or 5 minutes before closing, but when I went to drop off clothing to the good cause, I was greeted with a scowl, a door slam and not even a thank you. Absolutely terrible, it also made me want to take back what I had given away and give it to another charity like the Cancer Research UK up the street. I should have if had I not been in shock from the rudest encounter I have ever experienced in the least likely place, a charity shop. It doesn't matter where you work, but customer service is customer service.

Marie Curie, however, perhaps due to its size, has more than the average charity shop. The ornaments shelf, as someone else mentioned, is a treasure trove. Great place for cheap photo frames, and the books shelf is packed tight. I bought a very nice, young T shirt, perfect size, for £2. Now, you have to be happy with that don't you?!
