If like me you prefer to support local businesses shop here, the staff are polite and helpful and the the shops well laid out and easily accessible.

Quite a large store selling a huge variety of cards and gifts at reasonable prices. It's a mid…read morerange store selling the cheaper end and more expensive ranges of cards and gift wrap. The staff are excellent and really helpful, even to the extent of personally delivering items to your home if you can't make it into town. Unfortunately though this is another store hit by recent events and is closing down. It's a huge loss to the town. I've used this shop since it opened many years ago.

They have a very large range of newspapers and magazines covering all genres. They do have some very nice cards and all at a very good value for money. They also sell quite a large range of chocolates, sweets and drinks and have the National Lottery. There is no parking in the vicinity of the shop but it is ideally located near to the main bus stops in the town centre and the train station, for a lot of passing trade and is often very busy. The owners are a very pleasant and helpful couple.

This is a lovely little book shop which has some absolute treasures hidden away. It has a very old…read morefashioned feel to it, a traditional book shop. Despite being quite a small shop it does have an extensive range of books covering many genres. the shop owner is always happy to order any books for you iof he can. I love just meandering around and browsing at the books, there is no push to force things on you and it's nice to feel free to browse at your leisure. It's a very good shop to take children to introduce them to the wonders of reading.
