In short, we have had great experiences with the staff at Centre Pediatrics. Everyone has been able to answer our questions and make appointments as needed. The only issues we had was when the Patient Gateway system was getting started about a few years back. There was not enough training to help the staff help patients navigate it. It was inconvenient, but not a major issue and was resolved once training was improved. Overall, a very positive experience with this practice. I'm sorry to read about the challenges some reviewers have had. I'm happy to put out a different experience with 5 years of being a patient there. read more

Diane and Melanie are the worst people there! When I called to speak to the supervisor some lady transferred me to Diane & and she was AWFUL ! So completely rude, demanding and aggressive when talking to me. After her being completely disrespectful, I asked to speak to a manager. Something so little could have been resolved if she just listened and helped me out. After requesting to speak to a manager, I left 3 voicemails and no one got back to me. I left the practice and found somewhere else where the staff actually listens and try's to help out. As far as the providers, they're good Doctors who will take care of your kids, but the front desk supervisor and manager SUCKS ! read more

As a first time parent, being able to ask "is this ok or not?" type questions is important. The first time we called to ask a question about our sons belly button falling off prematurely it took two phone calls and two days to get a call back. The next time we had a question we sent a message through the patient gateway portal and after five days without an answer we decided it was time to find a new pediatrician. After cancelling my upcoming appointments I got a call back in less than twenty minutes from the office telling me how to pay $15 to transfer records--not to respond to my sons health concern. This practice lacks common courtesy and a genuine concern for their patients. read more

If you think you may ever move from the Brookline/Boston area and need your child's medical records, you may want to stay away from Centre Pediatrics. We moved 40 miles away from Brookline, and I had no choice but to switch doctors for both myself and my son. I signed and mailed a request OVER 2 MONTHS AGO for his medical records to be mailed to me (which they say will take 14 business days) and paid $15 for those records. The check was deposited 6 weeks ago, and I've received NO records! I've left THREE messages for the medical records person, one with the receptionist, and I've just been ignored. The reason they are getting three stars and not one is because the care my son got at the practice was fine while we were living in JP (though it's a large practice, so not very personal, if that's important to you). We never had to wait long in the wait room, the office is nice, and the staff was always friendly. But my goodness, trying to leave this practice and get my sons records for his new doctor has been stressful. I would definitely NOT recommend this practice to those of you who know you will move eventually. read more

My two children have been to Centre pediatric for the last 8 years. I made appointment for my son last year but it turned out that his appointment was not found, so I tried to make one after his birthday and I was informed the wait time is 3 months. I asked if it is ok to wait that long and if he was getting any shots, the reception desk staff did not know. I asked if she could ask the doctor if it would be ok for my son could wait for 3 months for annual check up, she said NO she could not ask the doctor about that. Then I asked her if I could have the doctor's email address so I could ask him, and she said NO. Then she transferred me to a voice mail. I called the clinic back and I was on hold more than 20 min that I hung up. It bothers me that my child's pediatrician is not accessible and making an appointment for annual check up time is too long. Another thing: last time my son went to see a nurse on Saturday morning as a sick child. We waited over an hour and the nurse saw him for less than 10 min and said he was fine. Few days later, I got a bill for over $400 for that short visit. read more

I chose Centre Pediatrics before I delivered my daughter at Brigham and Women's, partly because I knew they would be able to see her there immediately after birth and also because I liked the practice after going to an open house. Dr. Ma was our doctor and our NP was Robin, and they were both fabulous. For me as a new mom, they were reassuring, supportive, and responsive to any questions I had. Most importantly, they were wonderful and caring with my newborn. I particularly liked the way they talked about breastfeeding and formula, without judgment and encouraging any method I decided to use to feed my baby. The front desk was friendly and helpful with scheduling. We unfortunately recently moved away and it is now too far to come to Centre Pediatrics, which is too bad because I miss them already! Dr. Amin is our primary pediatrician and we LOVE him - his medical knowledge, kindness and patience with questions mean the world to us as first-time parents. My family recently moved to Boston area. I chose Centre Pediatric because it is close to our home. However, when I called to schedule an appointment for my 17-month-old. They said I cannot do so before all the paperwork and I CANNOT finish the paperwork in the office. They asked for my address and said I will receive the paperwork in mail. FOUR days passed and it never came. Then my daughter got pink eye and needed urgent care. I called the office to see if I can bring her in. I was told that they can not treat her because she is not registered!!! I was then transferred to a nurse line. I left a voice mail but never got callback. I changed her primary pediatrician right away! And the other office set an appointment for my daughter immediately! read more

Have been with Centre Ped for almost 6 years. Previous Ped was doctor Sleeper.. since she left we haven't been able to find a doctor as attentive as she was. She meet and exceeded all expectations. We have switched Pediatricians a few times since. We have gone through Dr.Daley, Dr.Ma and now probably the worst of the worst, Dr.King. I understand she's new to the practice but she also seems a bit too new to the medical field to be in the office dealing with patients. She always needs assistance or a "second opinion" as she calls it for EVERY appointment. Thats concerning because it seems as if she's still in the training stage even though she's been there for over a year. Recently I asked for my child to skip the flu shot because he was already sick. However she proceeded because she "thought it was best". Low & behold, my child got worst. Not saying it was due to the vaccine but we all know the vaccine does have side effects and it made my son worse. My son was sick for weeks after and had to be taken back to be seen by the nurses a couple of times & taken to the ED after. Thank goodness for the amazing nurses. Without them and the nurse practitioner my son sees I would have left years ago. Looking into a new Pediatrician within & outside of the practice because I don't feel Dr.King was properly trained to meet the needs of any patient. (My son included.) . read more

Our pediatrician is Dr. Amin and he is absolutely fantastic and very caring towards our two children since they were born. Our second child had some pretty serious health issues when she was a newborn and he called me at the hospital to check in every few days which meant a lot. We also love our NP Christine. You alternate seeing your Dr and NP so that two people get to know your kid and their health which I see as a positive. Yes the practice is definitely busy. You cannot just call and speak to your doctor specifically at the drop of a hat but the upside of a big practice is they have walk-in hours for sick kids 6 mornings a week so you are guaranteed to have someone look at your kid as long as you walk in the doors during that time. Its been so convenient to get kid seen (and then hopefully off to daycare and work). However whenever we have needed Dr. Amin to call us back he will as soon as he can. We have had a great experience with all of the doctors and nurses but we can highly recommend Dr. Ma as well since we have been seen by him many times during sick visits. read more

Centre Pediatrics was recommended to me by many people. Our pediatrician is Dr. Amin who is fantastic if you can ever see him. Essentially we have seen a different NP every visit which was fine until our child got sick. I tried to reach the doctor on call on a Saturday late morning and could not reach a live person. My son was hospitalized at children's for 2 nights and when I asked if his next follow up visit could be with Dr. Amin, they said that they would just refer us back to a neurologist for any issues. I explained that it would be great if he could at least know what is going on and help us navigate next steps. The nurse reluctantly gave us appt for 6 weeks later post hospital follow up!!! Our son continued to have his "events/spasms" and i did not know who to turn to. It would have been nice to have a pediatrician evaluate and help navigate. I am switching to a new pediatrician even though we liked Dr. Amin. It's just the way the practice is run that is not conducive to a baby with any serious issues. I'm trying to obtain medical records but they are not eager to help so I can switch practices .. even though my child needs to be seen but cannot be seen my the new pediatrician without medical records. So frustrating! My husband and I are both physicians and felt lost in navigating the pediatrics system. read more

We chose Centre Pediatrics over ten years ago because of the breadth and depth of knowledge at the practice, and the Nurse Practitioner / Primary Care model. We see Dr. Amin, who is outstanding, incredibly dedicated, and very thorough. He makes scary situations feel less so, and is attentive to a wide range of issues. The other physicians are all outstanding--Drs Ma, DiGerolami, Daley, and the entire team of incredible nurse practitioners all make us feel certain that whether it's a big or small problem, we are in the best of hands. read more

We are new to the area and needed to schedule a well-visit for both of my kids. When I called the office, I got through immediately, which is nice. However, I was then told that I would not be able to even schedule an appointment until they had hard copies of the medical records, completed paperwork, and copies of the insurance cards. After they had all of that, THEN they could schedule an appointment. I have never in my life been put through so many hoops just to schedule a routine visit, especially as a new patient. I get that offices have policies, but I used to work in a private practice, and we always made sure to make things as easy as possible for NEW PATIENTS to make an appointment. With all of the healthcare changes, it is becoming much more challenging for private practices to stay private, and I know that happy and loyal patients who refer other patients are an important part of being able to stay that way. So, I am beyond shocked at how difficult this process is. They must not need new patients. At least offer an option to submit all of this information through a secure online portal. If that is an option, it was not offered to me. I ended up calling another practice and was able to schedule my children's appointments in under 5 minutes, and submitted their records online immediately after that. read more

The staff at Centre Pediatrics are kind and polite and scheduling and appointment there is never a big issue. The routine well-visits with our nurse practitioner are always fun and Christine, unlike our pediatrician Dr. Daley, seems to actually care how our son is doing. Unfortunately, thats all the positive feedback I can give on this pediatric practice. The few times our son has been ill, we have had only negative experiences there and I would go so far as to say that our pediatrician's medical expertise is extremely low! The first time our son had a high fever (as a baby) she tried to get catheter-urine from the baby and was not able to put in the catheter - twice. At the second time, she drew blood rather than urine. I know this is an extremely difficult procedure, especially in a tiny baby, but if you find you cannot do it, you should call someone who is more experienced in this and not try a second time while mumbling to yourself (in front of the parents) that this is so difficult! The second time our son was ill, we were told for 3 consecutive visits that it was just a viral infection and nothing to worry about. After 10 days of "just" a viral infection I insisted that his lungs sounded funny and indeed - he was then diagnosed with pneumonia on both sides PLUS a middle ear infection on both sides. In fact, the doctor we saw for the emergency sick visit (Maggie, I think) missed the middle ear infection on one side and we were later told at Children's Hospital that both his ears looked terrible. Again, I am aware that he might actually have started off with a virus and caught a superinfection later. But the fact that they missed the middle ear infection on one side when the doctor's at Children's Hospital told us that both sides looked like teaching examples of a really bad middle ear infection, is not exactly reassuring. We are not sure how long they had been missing it before it became so very bad! We then went through 2 different kinds of antibiotics, the second one (prescribed at Children's Hospital, by the way) finally helped pretty well. After finishing 10 days of antibiotics, our son unfortunately had a really strong relapse, indicating that the antibiotics had not killed all the bacteria. Nevertheless, Dr. Daley prescribed the SAME antibiotics again - for 5 days. Filling out the prescription was a real hassle - she completely miscalculated the dosing for our son and we had to actually draw her attention to this ourselves. Not surprisingly, the second round of the same antibiotic did not help at all. If you want to breed resistant bacteria, intermittent application of an antibiotic that does not quite kill them is the best way to go! At this point, I lost patience and called my former pediatrician who could not believe the medication our son was on. She changed us to a different antibiotic which (very wisely) she had given us to take along before we moved to Boston - just in case. Over night, our son was fever-free and feeling a whole lot better. We are now looking for a new pediatrician as we really don't want to trust our daughter's health to someone who can't even calculate the dosing of antibiotics. read more

Dr.Bunnell Bruce has been my son's primary care doctor for 6 years now he is a wonderful professional doctor. Christen the nurse practitioner is a wonderful educated nurse. Unfortunately I decided to leave the practice because it is far away from where I live now and the other reason why I'm leaving the practice is the rude disrespectful girl named sue at the front desk!!!! read more

I was so surprised to see negative reviews - 4 years later I still love this practice. Dr sleeper is our primary pediatrician - she's phenomenal. Christine G is a terrific nurse practitioner. The staff is lovely and helpful. They've responded appropriately when we've had issues, referring us to specialists when an issue was bigger than a general practice could manage. For general pediatrics you will be in good hands. If you need specialty care, you will be referred out to appropriate specialists. read more

We've been going here for almost 4 years for two kids and really like it. The best part is that that they do a half hour with every patient and that they almost never run late. You know you get a half hour every time and that your appointment will be on-time. When you're getting away from work that's really great to know. They are very patient, and we have liked all of the nurse practitioners and the Dr. Amin is really great. read more

The staff (especially the nurse practitioners) at Centre Pediatrics are very kind and both of my daughters liked being at this practice. The early morning walk-in clinic is very convenient. However, Centre Pediatrics misdiagnosed an orthopedic issue when my daughter was very young resulting in major surgery and 6 weeks in full leg casts when she was 3. The staff went so far as to say that anything we would do to treat the problem would be "purely cosmetic". This is simply untrue. The referrals we've been given (both to the Pediatric Orthopedic practice at Children's Hospital and to allergist Dr. Twarog for my younger daughters numerous allergies) have been terrible referrals. Additionally, Centre Peds put my older daughter on five different antibiotics to treat her recurrent strep throat and I later learned (from tests conducted elsewhere) that none of the antibiotics tried would actually treat the particular strep my daughter suffered from for 2 months and 5 bouts with strep. This test could have been ordered much earlier and my daughter would not have missed 5 days of school. Basically, we have so many choices of pediatricians in the Boston area and can choose better than Centre Peds. read more
