I didn't end up seeing Jared at first but went in for a massage to see Mike McGinnes. He's very good and will give you more pressure than you need, trust me. He knows his anatomy and is very good at what he does. After my massage, I'd actually booked an appointment to see Romana, the second (of two) Chiropractors there at Restore. I chose her as my shoulder was causing me some serious discomfort and the wait for Jared at that time was several days longer. Dr Schmidt is a Certified ART practitioner and we did mostly massage work for 90% of my visits and just one or two adjustments as needed. Dr Schmidt has great beside manner and a lovely person all around along with providing excellent service. Finally I got in to see Dr Jared Gerston. I have to admit, while I was on the table and he was going around and testing this and touching that I was sceptical. I've been seeing good chiros (the ones that don't just crack and leave) for a couple of decades now and this type of treatment was so different from anything I'd experienced, I was really doubting what he was doing.... Then at the end of the session he asked me to move my arm around and so I did..... pain free! It was so odd as it 'seemed' like he wasn't really doing anything but 2 more treatments later and my shoulder feels like new again. I can't say enough good things about Restore and the excellent service I've received from everyone I'd had sessions with. As promised, a word on effectiveness and results: In the course of the 2 months and 15 sessions I had, I would say I didn't really get the results I expected. I feel more fit and that's priceless but I didn't see a weight loss (in fact I saw a significant gain) Overall I didn't feel I was always pushed hard enough. Compared to other trainer sessions I've had (traditional and boxing), this was the least positive result-wise, even after adjustments to my diet and sleep hygiene. I can only guess that this had something to do with a slow start and lack of cardio-intensive workouts. But for the money paid, this is disappointing. I either have to consider more sessions or a different approach to my fitness goals. So while my trainer was fabulous and a guy I hold in high esteem, the Studio One services didn't meet my expectations. Disclaimer- I am a yelper so keep in mind that with a less forgiving/more disciplined diet, you might be able to take better advantage of sessions at Studio One.

I brought those goals to Craig, the owner at Studio One, who set me up with a weekly session with Josh, one of the trainers there. I've been paddling for 15 years, and this is the strongest off-season I've ever had. I know I owe a lot of that to Josh's help. Notably, I find that I am able to give feedback, or to let him know if I'm plateauing/injured/etc., and he is very good at making adjustments in the workouts. He also takes my dragon boat off-season training plan into account, which is not something that a lot of other studios were willing to do. I find the rates to be reasonable, and the Beechwood location is convenient to where I live, so no complaints there. Sometimes I have to shift around my appointment time to accommodate my work schedule, and Josh is always amenable to that. This is a boutique studio, which I prefer. It means there aren't any strangers or meatheads watching you work out. There's not really much cardio equipment, but I would hate to go there and just do cardio (srsly, I can do that on my own). Most importantly, everyone at Studio One is super nice. I never feel judged when I'm there, and when I'm not feeling very strong they're very motivating. As with anything related to fitness you're only going to get out as much as you put in, and I feel like Studio One and Josh really help to make sure that I've got all the tools I need to do that for myself.

For me, my treatments are 98% Active Release Technique (ART) as opposed to classic chiro adjusting. It's hurts like a b$%S but the induced pain goes away quickly. I also have friend that sees Dr. Norton, and she's never felt better. What's nice about this clinic is that there are private rooms, so you don't have to be adjusted in front of everyone or have to listen to all their pain stories. Only downfall I can think of is that they don't accept credit card. Cash or debit only.

(2) The ladies at the clinic are really friendly. I was away and then busy over the summer, so I haven't been into the clinic for 6 - 8 weeks; yesterday they welcomed me back, noting that they'd missed me over the summer. It was really nice to have such a warm reception. (3) Dr Norton is about health outcomes and doing what's right for me, even if that means taking an extra couple of minutes.
