I take (and give) recommendations very seriously,and after meeting with Mike for the first time,my wife and I were comfortable going thru this very emotional time to "move forward". Not only did Mike Rein sell our home via Short Sale,but he did it with understanding and class! Our home was so very important to us on so many levels i.e. it was the only home we lived in since our marriage,our son knew no other home and graduated from gradr school,high school,and college while living there.There are far too many significant memories to mention. Mike not only sold our home,but also found a rental property for us.Since I am a Post Polio individual,the only type of home we could live in would be a ranch style.Mike was tireless and spent too many hours to count,in looking for,and showing my wife and I homes. Mike found us a home in Hoffman Estates in 2012,and we have be here for 3 years.Unfortunately,our landlord is selling the home in October,2016,and the first person that we are going to call is Mike Rein,of Century 21! After we made the offer, Michael's clients decided they no longer wanted to sell their home. This is after the home had been on the market longer then 250 days! I would highly recommend people stay clear of Michael and Century 21 Sketchbook in Lake Zurich, IL. My husband and I were so disgusted with his unprofessionalism that we want to make our story known to potential buyers and sellers that may consider using his services.

A Masterclass in Incompetence and Poor Communication…read more I am writing this review to detail the profoundly unprofessional and ethically questionable conduct of real estate agent Randy Schulenburg, who represented the seller of a condo I wished to purchase. The sequence of events was as follows: My agent submitted my good-faith offer to Randy Schulenburg. The seller received our offer. Randy Schulenburg informed us that a "second offer" had materialized and instructed us to come back with our "best and final" offer by 5 PM the next day. Within less than two hours of this instruction, the property's status was changed to "Pending" on Realtor.com. Confused, my agent called Randy Schulenburg to inquire what was happening. He provided no explanation for the conflicting information but told her that we could still submit our best and final offer. We did exactly as he said and submitted an improved offer. After submitting, we heard nothing. My agent sent numerous emails asking for any update. After this period of unprofessional silence, Randy Schulenburg finally got back to her simply to state that the seller had accepted "the first offer." The complete lack of transparency is unacceptable. The entire "best and final" exercise, initiated after the property was already pending, appears to have been a complete fiction and performance art masquerading as real estate sales. The greatest indictment comes from my own agent, who stated that in her 30-year career, she had never encountered anything nearly as questionable as this. I cannot recommend Randy Schulenburg under any circumstances. My experience suggests you cannot trust the information he provides or the processes he manages. Dealing with him was a frustrating and shady experience that cost us time and emotional energy. Exercise extreme caution.

The tone was completely different on the phone and I could tell here was a realtor who was wanting to work with and for us. By that afternoon I was sent over a number of listings that were more in line of what we were looking for. I took a liking to one particular home, when my wife came home she picked out the same house. Ken gave us a follow up call later that evening and said he could arrange a viewing that night if we wanted. We found the perfect home, more than we expected. Several other people were bidding on this home. Ken convinced the listing realtor we would be a good bet for the sellers, and the sellers accepted our offer which was a bit lower than some. Apparently, the sellers had another offer at one time which fell through. Since both my wife and I are self-employed financing is much more securitized and we had more hurdles to jump through than in previous homes I had purchased when I was an employee. Ken kept the seller's realtor informed all the way and both us and the sellers were very satisfied. I truly believe that the sellers realtor if not for Ken would have advised the sellers to accept the higher offer. Additionally, I convinced my brother to list his home with Ken, OMG the hurdles Ken jumped through for my brother were amassing. It would take a novel to explain it here.
