Horrible customer service. Have had to call 15 plus times this summer. Latest call today and after being on hold 19 person hung up on me. Second call the guy put in a ticket for repair because the person I talked to last week didn't even do that. Told him I would be home anyway except next Tuesday. Guess when my text after our call said a tech would be here. Next Tuesday We have had no internet or phone service over 10 days which I am sure I will be paying for. Called 3rd ti.e ask for a supervisor was on hold 32 minutes when the lady came back on to say no one was available she would have them call me. I hate to write this review, especially in today's world with corona virus, but we have no internet, waited 13 hours for tech to show up, spoke to the "live chat" at least 6 times, and still no internet. CenturyLink service is horrific! Impossible to get a hold of a live person who can actually help. Our service has now been out for 24 hours with NO communication or update from CenturyLink whatsoever. We have spent a total of 2 1/2 hours on the phone trying to get anyone to help us, or give us some type of answer/solution. Complete waste of time! We have also tried to "chat live". Also an utter waste of time! We are pulling our hair out! I have stage 4 cancer, so my time is extremely precious to me. Trying to chase down CenturyLink to get what we pay for is not a good use of my limited time. My blood pressure is through the roof...definitely not good for my health! In the best of times the max download speed is 7.5 Mbps. The upload speed is much worse. Never better than 2.0 Mbps! Awful awful service! We have a very small 2,000 square foot house. We just should not have any issues with strength of signal. So frustrating! Any one have any suggestions on how to get a decent WiFi signal in the 75156 area? Writing this for my In-laws. Absolutely without a doubt the worse ISP! They pay $35/month for 3mbs and after staying with them for a month and taking a 24hr weekly average of their internet speeds, they average around 1mb to 1.5mb. To compare, where I live we have Suddenlink cable internet at 50mbs and I pay $35/month. My in-laws have called numerous times and told the same thing over and over meanwhile they keep paying for internet that cannot even stream music without stopping every 10 seconds. And like in the other review, their only other choice is Satellite internet at over $100/month with unheard of data limits. So in short, they take advantage of rural customers and price gouge with 1990 internet speeds. read more

I would never recommend this company. They have been giving me a horrible time for the past one and a half months of trying to get internet! I was told by a CIP internet caller that it was only a community thing and that they are able to service where I stay which is a 100% FALSE. everyone has CenturyLink where a i stay. as of today when I come out my complex CenturyLink was there doing wifi service for someone in the complex. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE never again will go with this company. -0 of out 10 don't get it. Would be a waist of time. read more

Poor customer service. Slow internet...when it even works. was told my area is on need of an upgrade, but because not enough people live in the area, no upgrades are planned. Steady increase in bill...like every couple of months, with zero explanation or warning. My bill goes up, but my internet speed, or even internet access, continues to be poor, at best. My parents are 81 yrs old (referred to by chat support as 'old parents') and have been without a phone for a week. Unable to get a technician out for at least another week. Both have medical issues and need their phone! I guess since they are old parents, they are not priority. This company fails on many levels. If you have options for providers in your area, don't even bother with this one. read more

Fastest speed available in my area is 1.5 mbs. Too slow for tv shows that load via the Internet. Last time I called them they said they don't have fiber optic in my area (Michael's Cove) and no plans to install it. read more

Beware of deceptive billing practices! A neighbor recently cancelled their CenturyLink Internet service and was required to return their "modem". We are in a fiber to residence neighborhood and there are no modems involved with this configuration. I worked with tech support to resolve this issue on behalf of my neighbor, and in so doing, discovered I too have been billed for a modem for 7.5 years at $9.99/month. I took this matter up with CenturyLink customer service and was offered a year reparation of $120. I declined and a ticket was opened to the corporate office. I was informed I would be contacted in 3-4 days. After waiting 7 days, I called CenturyLink and a customer service rep reviewed the notes in my account. He determined I had been credited for the cost of a new modem in the amount of $107 for remuneration on 7/18/2017 and I was never contacted. I opened this complaint with the BBB and was credited an addition $13 as offered by the original customer service rep. I rejected this response with the BBB with the following reply: I am rejecting this response because: This item is listed on my previous bills in the most cryptic way possible: Monthly Charges ** HSI Modem Wired 9.99 As I mentioned in my original complaint, I would have never suspected this was a charge for rental equipment (billing example attached). There is nothing preceding this line item that indicates this is any type of rental equipment. For all I knew, this was the box outside my house where the fiber cable met my residence. This only came to light because a neighbor recently cancelled their service and was going to be charged $100 if they didn't return their "modem". After many calls to customer support and a discussion with an install technician... I learned Fiber to Residence does not use a modem. This is something CenturyLink should have known and I should never have been charged for this, certainly not for over 7 years. read more

Century Link Internet Service was interrupted on Friday, November 18, 2016 @ 6:00pm, they called it a "no pass" for various areas in central Texas. The customer service adviser on duty said the ETA to restore service was 12:30 pm on 11/19, then it changed to 4:30 pm. We finally got the internet restored at 10:00 pm Saturday night. Just wanted to let you know that you must call with an outage work order and get a ticket number in order to receive a credit in your account. read more

I have been without internet service for a week. This is simply not acceptable! Customer Service is not helpful as they do not give a realistic timelines as to when the problem will be repaired. For being such a large corporation with many resources, Century Link is not effective in making repairs needed in a timely manner. If you want to lose your job or company, then by all means use CenturyLink. This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with! We have been without internet service for a full week now! We did just get our full price bill however! CenturyLink simply does not care about the welfare of their customers! It is impossible to get a straight answer from them, if you ever miraculously get a "live" person on the phone! Even when the service was working the speeds at which you upload (never higher than 2 Mbps) or download ( never higher than 8 Mbps) are simply pitiful! Evidently, CenturyLink is not aware of Covid-19 and people working from home. No sense of urgency whatsoever! Garbage. Possibly worse. They price gouge. I haven't paid this much for such slow Internet in 10 years. It becomes almost useless later in the day. I want to switch to a streaming service for TV, but with such terrible speeds I don't think I can. Any time I contact someone about it, they just tell me that they are working on improving service, but it never gets better. I pay for 10mb speeds, which is a joke, but most of the time, I'm lucky to get 4mb. They're the only provider in the area, aside from Hughes Net, and there's no way I'm paying for satellite Internet. And they bundle with directv, so it seems convenient for them to provide slow service, to keep people from leaving direct for a better option. It's 2016. No one should even still offer only 10mb speeds. Worst ISP I've ever had. read more

Have spent many hours on the phone trying to resolve internet issues. Overseas tech support are polite but does not have much authority to help. They only read from a script on a computer and eventually will send a technician to check for issues. Have had about 10 technicians come, each stressed because of their tight schedules and each saying they have resolved the problem but issues never resolved!!! Terrible company! Do not recommend but they are our only provider in this area. read more

Have a good friend that has tried to get CenturyLink to fix a problem - said it wasn't their fault, tried to charge for not fixing anything, and were even very rude. They had another company come out, found out CenturyLink had connected something incorrectly - took them 15 minutes to fix it and the problem went away. Why would anyone want to use this CenturyLink is beyond me. Called to get internet and phone line started. First person told us they would send someone out to set it all up. Service tech gets here and said he was only here to fix the phone line. Phone worked. Tried to test all my mom, and no long distance. Talked to a service rep for 45 minutes to get everything straight. A service tech was to come out the next day to set up the internet. So I took another day off to wait for that tech. 4 pm and he still hadn't arrived. I called to see where he was and they said they didn't have anyone scheduled to come out that day. So I asked for a manager and they tell me they can't talk to me because the service wasn't under my name. If that was going to be a problem then they should have told me when I was talking to them the day before! So I wasted two days waiting for them to come set up internet (which my roommate requires for work) and still no hook up. Still no long distance. This company is awful. Don't trust them! read more

The deceit and lack of ability to service customers appears to be a fundamental foundation for this company. A service that disappears many times a day and every time a single drop of rain comes and still charges the same as companies delivering 100MPS in town (while I get less than 2MBPS). Apparently their equipment is so poorly protected that the squirrels have interrupted the service to our development by getting inside the box on the pole, it's a common excuse, and if a drop of rain falls, you might as well give up. On top of this, we've been promised on multiple occasions starting in 2016 that new equipment would be installed within 60 days that would guarantee our service at 10MBPS. That would be a dream compared to what we have. No one in the call center in India has the capability to do anything and you can't reach anyone locally. I'm shorting the stock and praying for their demise and another supplier stepping up. Apparently a monopoly in a neighborhood is a license to steal. read more

if i could rate this entire company a 0 out of 5, i most certainly would in a heartbeat. but sadly i have to give them 1 star. and even then, that's STILL WAY TOO MUCH FOR THIS ANTI-CUSTOMERSI have tried to get in touch with CenturyLink about the current outage of estimated time and nothing. here it is about 2 AM and still nothing. Yesterday was the worse experience i had on and it was customer support's fault for putting me on hold for 15 minutes, disconnect that call. I call again, get on hold for another 15 minutes and got someone but they didn't answer. i even said "Hello?" after the call connected but after a minute of waiting, i hanged up and called again. this time, i was steaming! I just unleased all the swear words that would make them go "Angry customer, better make them happy." finally got a human to talk and she told me there is an on going outage. So this company decided to remove the easiest way to know if you are in an outage to have it where the employees are complete douchebags the first two calls and wasting 30 minutes of my time before the third finally gets up and says, "We are experiencing and outage right now." If i wasn't in the countryside i would switch providers. read more
