if there was a zero rating I would have chosen that. we have had a dangerous communication wire dangling from our home through our entire backyard for 6 weeks. my husband has nearly strangled himself in it. This company says they have scheduled an appointment to see the problem then never shows up. 6 times at this point. it is nearly impossible to speak with a person and regardless if you get someone on the line they cannot heKP. The employees are not the problem, it's their system. Our Internet has gone up and down at least 10 times today, and it's only noon. This is a regular occurrence. I called Century link about it and got to talk to the robot who try's to sound like a person. It informed me it found a problem with their line and they would need to send someone out to fix it. The soonest appointment is a week from tomorrow. It conveniently scheduled the appointment for sometime between 8am and 5pm, Central Time, which is 2 hours ahead of where I live in the Pacific zone. The robot also said they will charge me $95 if I am not here when they show up. I've been through the same process at least three times in the last 12 months. I'll get a text telling me that their technician has arrived. No one ever actually shows up at the house. So I drive around and find their Century Link truck parked along the road, about a mile from my house. The technician tells me the problem is somewhere on the main road. I'll get a text later saying it's fixed. That means it will work slightly better for a couple months. Then, I will have to repeat the process, talk to the robot and sit at home for another day so they can not show up again. read more

This is the worst company ever!! We have our landline through them. It quit working a month ago. They said they would send someone out on the 5th. They never showed. We called, no apologies, nothing. Said they would send someone out on the 12th. Again, a no show. When we called again, no explanation or apology. Said they would try and get someone out but didn't know when!! How can a company operate like this?? They are the only company that service's our area!! Disgusted!! read more

My mom lives alone and has Century Link for her landline. Like most people she rarely uses it because she has a cellphone but the landline is an extra safety measure since she's by herself. Her phone service has been out for WEEKS and as of the time of this writing it's still not fixed and it was supposed to be fixed earlier this week. Their consolation to her is that lots of others are also without phone service?? She of course is being charged full charge and she had to notify them of the outage when my sister and I told her we couldn't get through. And this is not the first time it's happened. I assume they will credit her for downtime but it hasn't happened yet. Not that Century Link could have predicted this - but this just underscores the kinds of things that could happen without your phone... but when my dad passed away several years ago he donated his body to science. We've been waiting for years to get notified that the medical school that they are done using his body - at that point it gets returned to us, and because he was a fire fighter and veteran they present us with a flag ceremony. Well the school has been trying to call us for weeks to notify us the ceremony is TOMORROW but couldn't get through because the phone was down. Thank goodness someone finally sent an email. Sadly it's too late for most of the family to be able to attend which is heartbreaking. I find it mind blowing that a phone service provider can have service down this length of time and unfortunately the consequences for our family cannot be repaired. So I would not recommend this provider ever under any circumstances. read more

I called in to inquire about getting service and the representative was very condescending and rude. I hate to base my opinion on one interaction but representatives that are customer facing need to be polite and respectful to customers. Once the representative decided for me that their internet wasn't fast enough for my needs (without asking me) they turned into a jerk. From this interaction I would never do business with century link nor would I promote anyone else to do so either. read more

If there was negative stars that would be appropriate. My fax phone line service has been out for 5 weeks. The worst part is that we scheduled a technician to come out and repair the problem. We were told they'd be there between 8 and 5. The technician never showed and didn't even call. You would think poor service would end there but as of tonight, we have now scheduled a total of 6 appointments with technicians to come repair the line and they have no call no showed all 6 times. I have never in my life experienced such poor customer service. I would have liked to keep the same number for my fax due to business but after all this, there is know possible way I could convince myself to keep their service. Do yourselves a favor and steer far away from CenturyLink. Complete lack of respect for their customer's time and utter disregard for a customer that has given nearly 20 years of loyalty without ever missing a payment. read more
