If you pull in, you do end up backing onto a busy road so leave with caution. As I said, they have a great selection. There are four rooms of boons, each section is clearly labeled and occasional thematic decor. There are also occasional benches so you can sit and debate which books you want to "adopt". They're used, but gently and each has a price lower then the face value written inside. They also have the largest selection of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys I've ever seen. Its all very impressive.

At the shop you'll find: over 60,000 items, specializing in 19th and 18th c. illustrated books, chromolithos, Philadelphiana, rare anthropology, early hermeneutics, Natural history, first editions, signed items, Beat lit, '60's material, unusual occult, erotica and esoterica. We have a vast collection of ephemera, art work (steel engravings, pouchoir, collotype), movie posters (of the 1940's - 50's) and a mass of important 19th c. bound periodicals (Oology to Archeology, Mathematics, Botany, Knitting), and 20th c. Art journals, Italian Fascist publications, etc., culled from Walter J. Johnson's liquidation, as well as a collection rare jazz records. And much more, just ask. They had a nice selection of a variety of genres, and I really liked the children's section, which was partially divided by ages group/reading level (which is helpful for clueless aunties like myself). The woman working there was not very friendly, and when I first "found" her (she was not visible, and I said, "Hello, is anybody here?", to which she did not reply), she acted as if I was bothering her. She asked me what genres I was interested in, went and pointed out where a few were, and then left me. She was then talking to a regular customer, and seemed more interested in "gabbing" with him. There was no explanation from her of their pricing scheme, and since she was chatting with that customer, I felt like I should ask another customer, who was nice enough to explain it. I guess that I was spoiled by Labyrinth Books the day before when I was in Princeton, which gave me excellent customer service from every employee there that I came in contact with - probably the best I've ever had! I plan to return to the area, but I will never come back here.

My favorite is their curation of books which also reflects US social/political/economics at any moment in time you are there, although the space holds books on any subject you want to look for. Probably because the store is located right across Princeton University campus, the selection of books is always very educational and diverse in voices and subjects. But unlike in other bookstores near universities, I noticed, Labyrinth still maintains an independant vibe. Once I walked in for books about writing, and found lots of books I have not heard about or seen in B&N or any other bookstores. It was like a breath of fresh air to walk into a bookstore and find something different than what I am used to seeing and discover new material. Books are priced the same way they are in other bookshops. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Labyrinth also offers games, it's own branded merch and art by NJ local artists. If you are or are not a booklover - you should definitely check it out. For example one time I went there with my boyfriend, who isn't as big of a reader as I am due to his busy schedule and doesn't purposely keeps up with literary news as I do - and he still found some books that caught his interest that he purchased!
