The woman working there was not very friendly, and when I first "found" her (she was not visible, and I said, "Hello, is anybody here?", to which she did not reply), she acted as if I was bothering her. She asked me what genres I was interested in, went and pointed out where a few were, and then left me. She was then talking to a regular customer, and seemed more interested in "gabbing" with him. There was no explanation from her of their pricing scheme, and since she was chatting with that customer, I felt like I should ask another customer, who was nice enough to explain it. I guess that I was spoiled by Labyrinth Books the day before when I was in Princeton, which gave me excellent customer service from every employee there that I came in contact with - probably the best I've ever had! I plan to return to the area, but I will never come back here.

I was welcomed in by the shop's owner, Bobbie, and chatting with her was in itself worth the visit. Learn her story while there. In the end I had to limit myself to three books, but every shelf warrants a day's visit. Bobbie is selective in her curation and rightfully so. Staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. Books for every interest can be found here, and the selection was impressive. The store is clean and well-organized, making it easy to find what you are looking for. New releases to some more obscure books were all available. The store itself is relatively small, but then again, most comic stores ARE small. But do not be deceived, good reader. The number of books housed at Comic Relief is quite a lot! The owner is always courteous. But he doesn't say very much if anything at all. Which can be a good thing if you're an introvert, I suppose. :) Overall, this place is excellent for finding the latest releases and even hard-to-find variant covers. However, it's not the best for back issues or quality of issues, for that matter. If it hasn't come out within that same week, expect to find bent corners, spine ticks, and spine wear galore on most of the books. It's not that people are beating the books to hell. It's actually the racks on which they sit, which tend to be simple wire shelves with gaps in them, that the books fall victim to. The wood shelf system on the back wall is much more efficient. However, the way the books tend to be packed on those shelves can also give way to an epic collapse knocking several books to the floor in a matter of seconds. Yikes! And yes, I did see that happen on a number of occasions.

The reason for the low rating is the selection, which BLOWS. The shelves are often partially empty, and the books they do stock are either bestsellers that everyone carries (i.e. the Twilight series) or those bargain-bin books that you always see knocked down to $3.99 at Borders. You know, the random cookbooks and craft books that have no discernible author but are put together by a team of editors? Yeah, those. That's about it with this place. They do also sell some cards, blank books, and knickknacks, but I've seen comparable selections in hospital gift shops. On the plus side, the staff really is wonderful and is happy to do special orders at any time and for any book. I know someone who places orders frequently through them and is very pleased.

If you are nostalgic for a local comic book shop, where the owner chats your ear off about…read morecharacters and community seems to gather here to just hang out.....this is your spot. I personally am not a comic book person but my son and husband are, they have been coming here more often lately eventhough we live about 30 minutes away. The time I came in the people behind the counter were laughing and chatting about a new book release in a way that made me want to pick up the book just to join in on the conversation. My son was looking for a certain Catwad comic and they were kind enough to say they would order it for him, eventhough the store is tiny and we literally only get maybe one book a month from here. Definitely come check them out, and then enjoy all the other cute shops on the block.

I've popped into this LCS a couple of times when I'm in the area, and each time I'm massively let…read moredown. But first off, the good... The location is on a cozy little side street in a cool-looking town, not too far from Princeton. There's side-street parking, but it's easier to park in the tiny lot next to the shop. Inside, there is a regularly updated new issue section. As well as a decent selection of trade paperbacks. And the employees who work there are always super nice, friendly, and tremendously welcoming. However, the same cannot be said about the shop itself... Not only is the inside incredibly dusty with dirt in the bins and on the floors, but the boxes of back issue comics (which mostly sit on said floors) are completely unorganized and in the worst possible condition. Some books are bagged and boarded, some are loose and falling apart. Comics are so tightly packed in some bins that you can't even properly go through them without damaging the spines of multiple books. Now, regarding the selection in those back issue bins, most of it is $1-dollar to $2-dollar bin-worthy. Sure, you might find a couple of keys every now and again, but they are not worth the high sticker price given their condition. I remember the first time I was in the shop, when most of the back issues hadn't been priced out yet, and I was told that unmarked books were cover price, or $1 if the original cover price was below a buck. Now that pricing structure makes a lot more sense, I guess, given the general condition of most of the books. But as of my latest trip, most of those same back issues are now sticker-priced at incredibly high levels and do not reflect the general condition of the books (F-VG quality at NM prices). Plus, trying to access the bins is a challenge in itself since the shop is relatively small and there is often debris in the way or stacks of clutter on top that you have to move first, including a trash can that sits directly in front of a few rows of bins by the side entrance. So, until I hear they've lowered prices, carry better books, and just all-around better present the store itself, I won't pop in here again. You all have superhero charm, but you really need to clean up that shop to keep it from entering into supervillain territory!
