This is a great site to visit. You get beautiful views at the top of the mountain. We enjoyed riding the rail car going up and then the gondola going down. There's some vendors selling souvenirs. We bought ponchos for about $35. There's some walking involved but nothing strenuous. The restrooms at the top were fairly clean. There's also a snack shop at the top selling coffee, ice cream and snacks. I highly recommend this place. read more

Cerro San Cristóbal has a little something for everyone! Trails for running/hiking, paved pathways for walking/cycling, and even a cable car for killer views (plus less huffing and puffing for the ascent). The hill offers beautiful views of Santiago from the higher points, but there are also plenty of interesting stops along the way, including side trails, small cafés, and even playgrounds in some of the parks. The city has done a fantastic job making this an accessible public attraction, and access is totally free! Definitely one of my favorite stops in Chile. read more

We were so happy to visit here in addition to Cerro Santa Lucia and Plaza de Armas. Those three attractions made a full day for us and we enjoyed all three. Highly recommended to go online and make reservations. We took an Uber from our hotel (parking seems hard for tourists to figure out) and since we had reservations, we just went straight up on the funicular and didn't have to wait in any lines. We were on in 5 minutes! We bought two adult all day tickets (maybe $7 each?) and the kids were able to go for free because they had passes to the Adventura Park (get there by taking the funicular and gondola--which are included in the Adventura Park Pass if you buy the 3 adventure + all day pass for the trams for about $15/kid). Great place to enjoy Mote con Huisillo. Online tickets!! read more

You can't leave Santiago de Chile without visiting the infamous Cerro San Cristóbal. On a perfect day it is said that you can see clear skies all around, although, I would imagine that's hard for majority of the time. Regardless the skyline is breathtaking and the views are amazing. One thing that I thought was cool, is that this place is more than just a trolley ride. They have a multitude of things to do here. On my ride I saw a water play area for kids, park area for playing, and other various activities. I'm unsure if it's all included in the price ticket but it's definitely something more to do if you're visiting. The only thing I wish would've been better, was the extended line wait time I wish there was a shaded area or seating outside because the day I went was very sunny and hot. Luckily they had a water fountain to refill my water bottle. So that saved me from dehydration! read more

Visited April 7, 2023. This was probably my fav attraction in Santiago. Suggest skipping the lines and buying your ticket online. Make sure to proceed to the correct line. Took the funicular up and down with a few cable car rides back & forth to various attractions along the route. The views are great from here, and there are various food & trinket stalls. It's a bit confusing and even though the cable car drops you "near" an attraction you're trying to reach, it can still be a long walk in hot weather. Especially liked the windy path past various artistic crosses that take you to the giant Virgin Mary statue. You can be at the top till dusk but the parks along the cable car route close before dusk so check the closing hours. read more

Pre-COVID my hubby and I took the tram up to get here. The line wasn't bad. We socialized with some kids that practiced their English on us while we were all waiting during a morning trip together. It took maybe 15 minutes to get to the top with a zoo stop in between. It was a great way to see the skyline of the city on the way up and down. When we got to the top, we were excited to see that there were places to eat, use the restroom, and explore from there as well. Wished that the day was clearer though because this entire city is surrounded by the Andes Mountains and it was a photo op I really wanted to get. I just remember first flying into the city, being able to see these mountains from a distance, and being amazed at how it almost hugged the city within it. It was surreal. And they're HUGE. Hard not to feel their presence throughout the entire trip. It was just the beginning of our day in the Parque del Metropolitano as you could continue to either walk or take another cable car across the way. I think a helpful thing to keep in mind is that you can't backtrack with a round trip ticket, but you can get off at any stop along the way and hop back on as long as it continues to progress forward. So we kept the map with us so we could plan which stops were the most important for us to want to hit. It was a really great way to see the city and enjoy free activities throughout our day there. A definite MUST SEE during your time in Santiago. Easy to access, as the base station for the funicular is only four blocks from a Metro station. Depending on the queue for the funicular, you can easily get in and out within an hour. If you are in Santiago for more than a day, you will want to time your visit to coincide with the weather. You will want clear as the views from here are spectacular. Health and safety is not a thing in Chile, as evidenced by the staircases here. Yes, there are handrails (I noticed one was completely swarmed by sugar ants) but the steps are uneven and slippery. Please use caution. But the views and the pictures are worth it! Note that the funicular only stops at the Zoo on the UP. It does not stop there on the DOWN. read more

The funicular is great and not overpriced. And we have two teenagers but the lady gave us the kid discount for them. It offers a great view. And relaxing place. Even with the hawkers and your groups it didn't feel overrun. We took the cable car down and found it relaxing and it provided another great view. It could use more landscaping help as the water looked dirty. It also doesn't have a seamless feel to one part to another. But maybe it is more of a sacred place and doing too much would over commercialize it? If you're in Santiago is worth a visit. read more

This is the best place to visit and workout!!!! I've ran up to the top many times. I'm an extreme cyclist and runner. I've ran 8-9 miles in these hills and they're beautiful and safe. Even at night. After lunch, we drove over to Teleferico Santiago, a newly reopened cable car system that brings you up to the San Cristobal Hill (Cerro San Cristóbal). The cable cars stop at three stations: Oasis, Tupahue, and Cumbre. The last station connects with the summit of the Hill, where there is a sanctuary that is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception with a 22-meter statue of the Virgin Mary. Within the pedestal of the statue is a small chapel. The view at the top is truly breathtaking and you can just see how big the city of Santiago is! read more

Cerro San Cristobal may look like just another big hill with a virgin statue on top but there is actually so much going on up on this hill you would never know. I first started hiking up to San Cristobal because it was great exercise and something different to do on a weekend when you're stuck in Santiago. It wasn't till after my first year in Santiago that I realized it was even better than an afternoon hiking ground. On the hill there are two outdoor swimming pools, a japanese garden, zoo, children's interactive toy display, observatory, funicular, and believe it or not there are even more things going on up there. It's a really good spot to spend the day especially if you are new to Santiago or just visiting. You can see the entire city from the top and if you're lucky and make it up there after it rains you will see clearly to the Andes. I recommend walking up and then taking the funicular down (as you're going to be tired after the long haul up the hill). There are vendors at the top that sell your typical mini market foods and traditional Chilean items like empanadas and mote. read more

Cerro San Cristobal, or San Cristobal Hill, is basically a huge hill overlooking the city of Santiago, with a big statue on top of the Virgin Mary. It looks ordinary from the bottom, but is actually packed with attractions including the Chilean National Zoo, the Mapulemu Botanic Garden of Chilean plants, swimming pools, an observatory, the simple Camino Real Restaurant, souvenir stands, and hiking paths. From the top you have scenic views through the smog of Santiago and the Andes Mountains. You can see most of the city from up there. The zoo is at the bottom of San Cristobal Hill. We ate some meat pastry thing at the restaurant which was bland and overpriced, but our dining experience was rescued by reasonably-priced beer. The Statue of the Virgin Mary on the summit of San Cristóbal Hill was dedicated in 1908 and is 14 meters tall and is 863 meters elevation. The Sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception on San Cristóbal Hill is one of the principal places of worship for the Catholic Church of Chile. You could spend a whole day here, especially if you hit the zoo. Very cool and worthwhile doing. Even saw some magandang suso up there. To get a grand view of the area, you can get a cool cable car up and around. The cable car will get you up and down, and we took it up. To get back down we took the funicular (a steep railway track ride). There's a hip area down the bottom of the funicular railway, called Barrio Bellavista, with endless restaurants and bars as your reward for your hiking around. I'll give the Cerro five stars for being such an amazing and convenient surprise. It was right there behind our hotel (Sheraton Santiago) and we just went out for a walk. Lo and behold there was a cable car waiting to take us up to adventure. We couldn't have planned it better. We found out later this was cable car Estacion Oasis in the Pedro de Valdivia Norte neighborhood. Also found out later that Cerro San Cristobal is just one part of the gigantic Santiago Metropolitan Park (see separate review). read more

We were in Santiago in January and, although I had been to the city many times, this was the first time I ever went to Cerro San Cristobal. This is a great place to visit, and I highly recommend going. It has a little bit of everything- nice trails for hiking, places to buy souvenirs, a beautiful statue of the Virgin Mary at the top of the hill that you can go inside, a church, and beautiful views of Santiago. We took the teleferico to the top. I was impressed by how modern, safe and clean it was. There are also lots of places to stop for ice cream and mote con huesillo, a summer treat that most Chileans love. After we spent a few hours walking around we went to a restaurant at the bottom of the hill. I can't remember the name but the food was excellent. read more

There is a zoo at the bottom and a 45-foot statute of the Virgin Mary at the top. This place is gorgeous, you get a great view of Santiago from the top and the sanctuary to the Virgin Mary will leave you speechless...The view during the sunset is just unbelievable...I would suggest to keep track of time because the last cable railway departs at 7:45pm well before the sunset -in March- and if you are lucky you might get a cab to go down or else you might have to spend 1 hr walking back down as it happened to me....the great thing about the walk is that you get an even better view of the city on the way down and clearer areas for pictures...I would suggest going up on the cable railway and setting aside enough time to walk down (you won't regret it)! read more

I had a fun experience while visiting San Cristobal hill, but don't make the same mistake I did! I followed the Google directions and HIKED the entire way up through several different neighborhoods and dirt roads. Although I was somewhat wanting to hike and get some exercise, I would have much rather just taken the train to the top that I didn't find out about until after I got to the top 2 hours later lol but the view from the top is amazing! You get to see the entire city in a almost 360 degree view. I would highly recommend visiting here if you're on vacation to Santiago. read more

The price was decent, but just be aware that there's a long line coming back from the top of the hill rather than going there on a Saturday afternoon. you MUST MUST MUST make a stop at the top of this hill. So much to see along the way. You can walk, bike or even take a cable lift up the entire mountain. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the scenery. There is a stop mid-way where a public pool and public botanical gardens, an observatory. At the very tippy top there is a gigantic statue of the Virgin and very stately and simple church that encourages reflection after your effort. The view of the Andes is unparalleled - unless, of course, you're actually at the foothills. But from center city, there is no better vantage point. Funicular ride from top of hill looked SO. FUN. but I had walked 3 hours and was completely spent. Wanted to take the cable lift down into some restaurants around Providencia. There's a children's playground and restrooms/water about mid-way up that is super fun for a picnic as well. Do yourself a favor and see the beauty of Santiago this way. read more

St. Christopher's Hill, within Parque Metropolitano, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Santiago. From the western entrance at Plaza Caupolicán you can walk--it's a steep but enjoyable one-hour climb--or take the funicular. (The funicular, which opened in 1925, is a historic monument.) Best experience in Santiago! I ran up and down the cerro on a Saturday, from 10 - noon. It was a PARTY! Loads of bikers and runners. I met a Chileno at the top that gave me a tour of the surroundings. Also, there were tents set up along the hill to fill up your water bottles. And there is bike parking at the top! read more
