Want to hear a robot? Want to have a perfectly good check be denied for no particular reason on multiple occasions? Want to talk to a human about a real life situation? Well too bad you can't have anything but a headache as that's all this company does as it's very clear they don't know anything about you but for some reason they think they do! So this company is used by a bunch of banks and businesses to verify a check and for some reason they seem to think it's okay to deny perfectly good checks I've never had any issues with this until a few years ago basically when this horrible pathetic excuse for a company came into play I know I'm not the only one who is annoyed by them as I've seen multiple people be denied using a check at work because of these jerks! For me I have had several good checks denied for no reason at all some have even been payroll checks from a very reputable company there is no reason for this at all like give me my money it's legit! Want to speak with a human about the situation good luck as this company only has a robot machine that goes in a loop you will never get anyone to talk to and your problem won't be solved as if you weren't already pissed off enough with them denying your payroll check there's nothing you can do about it because you can't talk to anyone! I'm beyond annoyed by this company they need to be brought down as I know I'm not the only one who hates them yes I'm using the word hate because there is no better description than the word hate for such a waste of time and for the problems they have caused me and others right in front of me with their lack of care for people's lives! Unbelievable. How in the world does this joke of a company even have the audacity to claim to be a business worthy of trust in the financial world? Walmart, in their spate of nonsensical decisions since old man Sam passed away, has somehow lost enough collective brain cells to make the foolish assumption that this company was worthy of their trust in the decisions as to whether a check is good or not. Meanwhile, this gaggle of grifters masquerading as a legitimate business declined cashing an escrow refund check from Wells Fargo, citing "risk factors" such as, "the check number, dollar amount, check cashing history, or other transaction details"! Seriously?!? Wells Fargo? I dare any one in that odious firm go to Wells Fargo's board and tell them they have tooo many risk factors to cash their solid-as-a-rock checks! Absolute scam of a company. I cashed a Recycling check at Walmart on a Friday, went to cash another on Saturday and this worthless company denied my check. It's from a legitimate company so I'm not sure why they would deny it. When you call the number they give you 4 different reasons why your check is denied and say their decision is final. Pretty gross how many people they rip off and get away with it because of money. read more

Wrote a check to a company I have dealt with for many years. Certegy declined the check for no apparent reason. Unable to get a response from the company as to why my check was declined. Did not help that a reference # was not provided when the check was returned to me. Certegy has such poor customer service that it will most likely cost the companies that hired them as people find other resources to supply their needs. read more

I usually use my credit card for purchases...have only used a few checks to pay for services. I needed to cash a check to pay my handy guy. Went to my local grocery, wrote the check to them as they requested, had my drivers license...my account was valid and in good standing for the check, drivers license valid, been at the same address for over 15 years...Certegy declined the check...automated system asks for my Social security, NOT....no explanation to say why it was declined. went on their website contact # was for the automated system...no humans. I researched to find their customer service # on the internet. Yelp had a # but it didn't say Certegy, they connected me to Certegy...human lady was nice, just didn't have any more info than the automated about why it was declined....said it wouldn't effect my wonderful A+ credit...quite annoyed and embarrassed with the whole problem...guess checks really are on the way out....Grocery needs to look into another check verification company... read more

Not only do they make decisions that have no basis is logic, but when you ask them to explain, they start making nonsensical excuses. I got "Walmart doesn't have the money to cash the check". Certegy is a crap company. Twice I have gone into a Walmart out of convenience to cash a check. The employee said that Certegy denied to cash check. This has happened twice at different walmart locations and different check. Certegy does not give reason why and they wont answer phone calls. We use Certegy check reader in our business. After having a check reader for many years it stopped working. Certegy sold us a new check reader which still does not work. After many phone calls with Certegy, IT and Comcast the machine still did not work. I canceled the service and they are still wanting me to pay the last invoice. We have been a loyal customer for 10 years until now. We will take our business elsewhere. read more

Certegy should be run out of business (if that's what they call it). I went to Walmart to cash two checks. One was cashed, one was denied (the one I NEEDED to cash). The denied one was for the same company that I have cashed checks from for years. I called Certegy and talked to an incompetent rep who could not give me a straight answer, he kept saying that it didn't "match my pattern" and "was higher than my average", which there is no 'pattern to my cashing, I've NEVER had an issue with the MANY checks I've cashed, and it was a lousy $40 over 'average'... so after getting an ID number, I asked for a manager. I was left on hold for 40 minutes, on a payphone, in the cold, with my child, with no manager ever picking up... UNACCEPTABLE!! I was then forced to waste NEEDED gas to drive several more miles to a place that charged me almost twice as much to cash it, and on the way, we were almost hit by another car!! My child's life was put in jeopardy because of Certegy's idiot rep and failure to allow my check to be cashed for no valid reason!! So I calmed down for a couple of days and called back today from home this time... I was finally transferred to a 'senior supervisor' who was rude, apathetic and extremely difficult to deal with. She proceeded to say that "it's what the computer says" and that's that, and when I asked her questions, she was mean, blatantly lied, and even told me things that were the complete opposite of what is fact and/or I was told previously. She also interrupted repeatedly, and as I was asking something else, she simply said goodbye and hung up. Now I am FURIOUS! I'm a single parent and cannot afford to drive 35 miles round trip every time I need to cash a small check, just because this farce of a service tells Walmart not to cash checks from this huge company that I have cashed at Walmart many times before. Certegy is unfairly causing me much anguish, inconvenience and costs, and I will not stand for it. And after checking up on them on the FTC website (http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases/2013/08/certegy-check-services-pay-35-million-alleged-violations-fair), I see that a court demanded that they correct issues such as this.
