Wow. I presume the folks leaving negative reviews have never used other grading companies and my last 3 submissions have been nothing short of spectacular. After countless bad experiences with PSA (the worst) and Beckett grading (not horrible but difficult to get high grades) I decided to give CGC a shot and I could not believe how simple the submission process was! To make a good experience even better I was in a state of disbelief when 2 weeks after my submission the cards were already graded and being returned to me! Other grading companies can take upwards to 2 months and sometime 3 and CGC has routinely returned mine within a few weeks. They graded high and fair which I felt was accurate and I also submitted a few PSA graded cards for re-grading with CGC because they clearly weren't the low grades PSA assigned and CGC returned them with higher grades which I felt was fair and accurate. Everything about this company resonates positively with me and not only this, but their slabs are some of the industry's finest. read more

I have submitted multiple card grading orders with this company in the past, but my most recent experience has been extremely disappointing. I submitted 26 cards on April 9. Although the package was signed for and delivered to their facility, it was not acknowledged as received until April 21. At the time of submission, the estimated turnaround time was 40 business days. As of today, 69 business days have passed, and my submission has not even advanced to the scheduling stage for grading. Despite collecting payment upfront, the company has yet to provide the service that was paid for. The company has acknowledged that it is understaffed, yet it continues to accept new submissions while falling significantly behind on existing orders. Customers should not be expected to accept this business practice. If a company cannot reasonably meet its published turnaround estimates, it should either pause new submissions until it catches up or offer customers the option of a full refund and the return of their property. Instead, my cards remain in the company's possession, and I have been unable to obtain a meaningful timeline for completion. Other grading companies have temporarily suspended submissions when demand exceeded their capacity, but this company continues accepting additional orders despite its backlog. Potential customers should be aware that payment is collected upfront, turnaround estimates appear to have little practical value, and there is no guarantee your submission will be processed within the advertised timeframe. Based on my experience, customers are left waiting indefinitely with little communication or recourse. Turnaround estimates should be reliable. If a company consistently cannot meet them, it should adjust its published expectations or limit new submissions until it can provide the level of service customers have paid for. read more

When you drop off your comics at a convention that they attend and accept drop offs they will never send you email confirmation of receiving your comics even though they tell you to your face they will. They will charge you and literally keep you waiting. Customer service is nonexistent when you email. Your comics are basically held hostage and your money gone. read more

A sports card I sold on eBay was sent to this company to be authenticated through a program eBay has. But the company apparently damaged the card then claimed my description wasn't accurate. I take great pains to be accurate with my descriptions. There wasn't any extra creases when I sent it to the authenticator. I look at the card carefully. You could see from the original photos that there were no signs of creases at the bottom. CGC does not have a good reputation. I took a card directly from an unopened box (with witnesses, well known dealers) and had it graded by a company years ago. It was graded highly, so I decided to sell. The buyer wanted a 2nd score opinion and then we were going to take the average of 2 scores to determine the value sale price. So I took it to CGC at the National because their line was short. I now know why it was short. The idiot grader said it was TRIMMED! He said he was a very experience grader from another company and CGC has specialized equipment to determine his decision. I checked with the other company and after laughing, they said that they couldn't wait for him to go. I took the card to another company and receive a 9.5. Do not do business with this company. They have the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. I've spoken with Erica, Lorraine and Serena. All of them are worthless. They apparently don't have phone numbers for anyone in the company to get statuses on anything. No way to escalate anything. Their turnaround time is astronomical. Don't plan on getting your book back for at least a year if at all. I would highly recommend herpes over CGC comics. read more

Thieves ... don't grade with these people. I never do yelp reviews but I want to let people know to not get fooled by this company.. FALSE advertisement written all over them Turn around time" changes" soon as my cards are " received " from 15-20 to 40-60 or something ya cool they credited my account but make sure you look at your receipts because they don't match with prices they claim.. As this order ^ is still in limbo I send another card as "express" supposed to be guaranteed 3 day turn around time it's now almost two weeks and no one knows what they f is going on 3 days calling back n forth and they tell me it's a "billing" issue but no attempts to charge my credit card is there. Then I ask to verify pricing and they are telling me a who different price of what's on my packing slip/ receipt and tell me I'm basically lying because it's been their pricing for years .. my packing slip clearly say 45 dollars not 50 that they are claiming and get this I'm a paying member that pays every year. They don't treat members right at all stay away and just grade with psa I feel like they are making me wait because this " express " submission is delayed because most of they payment is from store credit from the first " error " submission because all the sudden the first delayed is scheduled to be graded a little earlier that was stated to me. And no one has told me how they will fix this for me .. horrible service and clearly false advertisement. Wish I could give 0 stars. Horrible grading. I took cards out of PSA graded 8 slabs and submitted to CGC expecting to get better grades. Some came back as 5.5. Additionally, they didn't grade a 2004 UD Play Ball Purple Parallel 01/01 because they couldn't authenticate it. . This was after I emailed them with the specifics of the card. I received no response and no reasoning for the refusal to grade. This card was pulled from a pack. They also wouldn't refund me the cost of the grading. I've submitted countless cards over the years to PSA, Beckett, and SCG and never received a card graded below a 7. That's because I won't submit cards unless I think they'll be at least an 8. PSA and Beckett may cost a little more, but do yourself a favor and pay the difference. I know people are frequently disappointed in grades but this was absolutely a joke. I will NEVER submit to CGC again! read more

CGC is the premiere grading company for comic books and rock concert posters. I have used their services on several occasions, and I have never been disappointed. Nothing preserves and adds value to your comic book, than to have it slabbed in a clear, plastic holder. There grading services are the industry standard, and I have watched some of my Key comic books gain hundreds of dollars in value by simply achieving a higher CGC grade. Basically, you don't really know what you have and what it's worth until it's CGC graded. It's no coincidence that the 3.5 million dollar Action Comics #1 was CGC slabbed and graded. Another great services is CGC signature series service. The next time you're at a comic con and want to get your favorite artist or actor to sign your book, CGC can send a witness to validate the signing so that there is simply no question your autograph is authentic (Let's Face it, anyone can print up a certificate of authenticity). In short, CGC makes comic book collecting profitable and secure. read more

CGC is enforcing the use of signed waivers that will exonerated their employees of all responsibilities for damages caused to your collectibles. For example, if you want to submit a graded comic book for signature, which will require "cracking" open the slab with the blue lable and resubmitting it for reencapsulation, an accidentally the employee damages the book, the owner will have to assume all responsibilities and accept without complaint a lower grade certification. For example, the collector pays CGC for grading a comic book that received a grade of 9.8. Happily takes the comic to a signature event, signs the waiver to open the slab, sent the book back to CGC to get it reencapsulated, and when he gets it back it returns with a 9.2 grade because accidentally was damaged during handling or while cracking the slab. For a company that handles collectibles part of their mission should be the preservation of the collectible while in heir custody. If the item is accidentally damaged by an employee the company should take responsibility and act accordingly. Grading collectibles is not cheap but more important some collectibles are irreplaceable. read more

Well like a knucklehead, when I sent in my order for to CGC (Fantastic Four #112 & Crisis on Infinite Earths #1 & #2), I forgot to include the packing slip. In speaking with Shane, he was very professional and helpful, he indicated to email him a copy of the packing slip with the tracking number I used; which I did...or thought I did. Today, when I checked my email, I noticed it bounced back. I reached out to Shane and once again, was very helpful and patient (turned out, I actually misspelled a portion of the email). Kudos to Shane and to CGC for fostering a good customer service atmosphere. read more

Really bad service. They damage books and you are basically scewed and out whatever the book is worth. They require you to pay insurance on the value, so that they have zero liability (you're paying their operating insurance in this regard), so you have to put a lower amount in otherwise you are paying through the nose. read more

After 3+ months waiting for my books to be graded. I found out they lost my books, presumably months ago. I don't recommend trusting them with your valuable books. Very disappointed they strung me along for so long only to find out they lost them. read more

So I sent my books to CGC and they arrived on 5/28/24 at the locations they were supposed to be. The book in question arrived at CCS, Their pressing company to be pressed before grading. Now mind you this is the only book I paid fast track for. The book was pulled from my order on 6/5 because it had 3 signatures on it which I paid to have JSA verified, not graded. Mathew M emailed me and then we spoke on the phone and I informed him the signatures were JSA not grading and he promptly agreed that 3 signatures can be verified so the book was supposedly going to the front of the line. On 6/11 Kailee reached out and tells me they are going to locate my order and pull it and send it to the front of the line. Meanwhile online the order number is blacked out and I cannot verify this one book out of the 28 I sent in. Everything else is back but 90 days later, I still have no update on the book besides the " OH I see here it's on schedule to go to CCS" which is where it arrived on 5/28. They obviously lost my order as everyone I speak too tells me a different story and NOT ONE PERSON follows back up on their noted promised communications on my account. They have become a joke, find someone else to grade your comic books as CGC has become an intolerable joke. Horrible if ANY customer service, and total lack of communication in house period. read more

If you email them they say they will get back to you and then don't, they may take 10 times longer than they project and you better not care about that, because there is nothing they will do about it. Place is a joke i sold a card on ebay and they made me send to them for authenticity guarantee which i was fine with. But the canceled the sale and sent card back to me and only description was card was not in condition listed or some bs. I posted card as used and posted plenty of pics of card. If you sell a higher priced sports card on eBay it gets sent to cgc and then they decide if it's "Authentic" or not...I was very specific in the description about flaws on a certain card and they sent it back saying I wasn't specific enough and I was out 700 dollars and the buyer really wanted the card and understood what flaws were on it but backed out once it was shipped back to me...these "authenicators lol" are on a power trip it shouldn't be up to them if a sale can happen or not that's between the seller and buyer... terrible idea by eBay... read more

They ruined the cover of my comic book, Fantastic Four 52, featuring the first appearance of Black Panther, by scuffing the picture of the hero. It's now worth hundreds of dollars less. Also, I paid $15 for 23-day expedited service, and they held on the to item for over two months. What a rip-off!!! read more

If you NEVER want to see your comic books again, send them to CGC. They have had my comic books for nearly a year now and they keep extending the return date. Not pleased with them at all and will NEVER send anything of mine to them again. If I could give a zero star I would... I sent pok'emon cards to CGC and paid extra for express shipping to get to them in February 2021 to get graded. Their turn around time was approximately 60 days. I decided to go a head and send two orders since the turn around time wasn't too bad. May comes around nothing, no updates, emails, calls nothing. I check their website to try and see what was going on and noticed their estimated turn around time had jumped up. Since it was way past the estimated time when I placed my order I decided to call. The man on the phone said that the turn around time was around 120 days and that I was out go luck and that I just had to wait longer. I explained that when I sent my order in the turn around time was half of what he was saying and he told me that that the wait was longer and I would not get my order till end of September beginning of October! That is even way over the 120 day turn around they said "was their estimated turn around time". Its ridiculous that a 60 day estimate turned into a 210 day wait. I called again to see what they can do and they said nothing. I just asked to just have my cards sent back and when I check my account again it said it was in "grading and quality control". I though WOW they actually cared about my concern and had my orders graded faster... ya nope I called again and they are not grading my cards and are sending them back raw. With their poor customer service, false advertising they still charged me to ship my items back. I will never be using CGC again. Horrible customer service. They do not care about their customers it seems like they just want to benefit for profit. I'm very disappointed with their service. Trying to give them one last chance to make things right I asked to speak with a manager to see if upper management could help me and nope I was sent straight to voicemail. I had submitted 6 comic books to CGC in late 2019. All 6 were signed by Todd McFarlane. 3 of those Comic Books came back with obvious flaws in the containers. I resubmitted these 3 Comic Books to be redone. CGC sent them back having done nothing. Same flaws in the Crystal Clear Holder. The Crystal Clear part is confusing.... there is obvious scuffing, abrasion and/or damage to the interior holder or the inside of the Crystal Clear Holder. How did this pass inspection, TWICE? For the amount of money CGC charges, there should be absolutely no flaws in the their holders. The inspectors need to be more diligent and pay attention to detail. This is absurd to have to submit merchandise a 3rd time. This is costing CGC money every time this happens. Bottom line CGC, fix your process... it is severely flawed. The other 3 came out very good. When you get it right.... it looks good. I just want you to get it right every time. read more
