Closest place for breakfast that's near the convention/exhibition centre. Sunday 10am and it's busy, got a table inside, service was a bit slow maybe cause it was busy. Great for groups indoor or outdoor seating available. Views of the Yarra river. An Italian restaurant offering breaky. Ordered the veggie breakfast, baked eggs with chorizo, baken and egg roll and for our 4th member who is allergic to eggs which constitutes for 90 % of the menu got toast, bacon with hash browns. Decent Italian with a lower price tag than a lot of the other water-side restaurants. Nice ambiance in the outdoor seating area and really good service. They were super speedy with drink delivery and food came fairly quick as well. The bruschetta was pretty average, nothing to write home about but the special caprese salad was really nice. It came with a balsamic glaze and this delicious garlic crispy bread. I recommend it. Pastas portions were good sizes and had good flavour. I was happy they had actual fresh chilli but a bit let down that they only had powdered Parmesan. Fresh grated would have been nicer. read more

The food here was good! I had the chicken fettuccine with Alfredo pesto sauce! The service on the other hand was not very good! We walked in with a pretty big group. I would have assumed a place like that especially where they are located should be use to that. The server was rude and unfriendly. If we asked for anything it was inconvenient for her. The host was nice and tried to give a helping hand but it didn't make up for the server. Everyone has bad days but don't let it reflect on your service. read more

Cervo is one of the more casual eateries at Crown Casino, serving Italian fare at reasonable prices for those that dont want to fork out an arm and a leg for a meal, but want something nicer than food court options. The restaurant itself is really nicely decorated, in my opinion -and the decor makes it feel like one of the nicer restaurants in the complex, without the price tag. In terms of food, its your standard Italian offerings. My friends and I started with a Calamari Fritte, which was lightly coated and fried, and came with an amazing dipping sauce-I think it was a lemon aoili. For my main I ordered a Penne Matriciana,and my guest ordered a Veal Scallopini with lemon Both dishes were nice - not the best meals we have ever tasted, but the food was good and filling! Service was friendly and overall I would say the experience was not exceptional, but I would be happy enough to go back. read more

When you walk down the south bank water front restaurants this restaurant stands out as it does not come across as over the top expensive or old boys club types. It is bustling with people and has high energy. The service is great where most of the staff seemed like they want to serve you. The Pizza sizes are perfect and Bruschetta full of flavour great choice of beers. Like the open area and the overall ambience. Definitely a place i will visit again read more

No no no! The Cervo salad I ordered arrived with a DEAD WET MOTH intertwined with the rocket leaves and soaked in the vinaigrette dressing. It amazed me how such a sizable insect could've gone unnoticed by their wonderful kitchen staff who would have had to thoroughly toss that salad. Taste-wise, besides the flavour of decaying wet moth, the salad was just OK. The random wedges of roasted pumpkin seemed an odd addition, with pumpkin seeds scattered in there for the sole purpose of giving the salad a theme. Look if you're going to contaminate my food with disease-carrying insects and increase the risk of me getting the runs tonight, at the very least let the food be bloody delicious. Cervo you failed. Loved the wait staff with their lovely Italian accents. Very nice touch. Had the spaghetti Bolognese and a Caesar salad...and a beer...of course. I was pleasantly surprised by the portions (because man, I was hungry that day). The Caesar salad could have been a meal unto itself and was generously appointed with shaved parmesan and bacon and was very fresh. The pasta's meat sauce was generous as well and the pasta done a nice al dente. For a South Bank joint this place, I think, gave you a good bang for the buck. read more

This is a nice, relaxed and informal eatery where you can sit and watch the Southbank world go by, while you enjoy very nice food. There's an outdoor patio which is lovely on a warm Melbourne evening, also an indoor area for when it's too hot or too cold. My companions and I enjoyed pre-dinner drinks - the cocktail special was a Strawberry Margarita, we had a Virgin Mojito and the special Rose, with Dips/Turkish Bread and Bruschetta. Our main courses were a Fish Special (Barramundi), a 300gm Porterhouse Steak, a Cervo Salad, a Seafood Pasta and nice accompaniment of bread. Everything was very nice - well presented and tasty. They use good fresh ingredients supported by relaxed but respectful service too. Probably two things to note - it takes a while to find someone to arrange the bill and take the payment, also it can be very noisy if helicopters are using the heli-pad directly opposite on the other side of the river, but the restaurant can't do too much about that. The coffee was served virtually cold, and you seem to be paying for the riverside view as the pancakes with banana at $18 for the thinnest two stack was way over the top! Big function over 3 tables. Kids on one. adults on other 2. Unable to pay for kids on other table from our table. Kids 13 yr olds had to organise own payment. Our waiter could not take orders from our table for our kids on another table as it was another waiters designated table. Waiter tried his best to help us but manager, woman in glasses refused over and over. Food eventually arrived, kids one hour after ours, due to different waiters. Had to go to atm to get cash so all our kids could pay. Food aweful. Picture attached is main $24 spag bol, notice NO meat in sauce. Waiter tried to warn me not to order carbonara, and go gnocchi, had carb, and worst i had. Waiter then came over an asked how it was. We picked it because we didn't want to eat at the food court. I'd say that the service and the food would have been better at the food court. Absolutely nothing special about the food. Service was very poor - my beer came after they served the meal. The meal itself was small and not all that warm. Expensive for what we got, even with the kids menu. Took forever to get the check. The best thing about this place was the view of the Riverwalk. That's why I give it 2 stars. But if you are inside the restaurant, then I think you should eat at the food court. read more

Came here for a birthday dinner as I'd be been before and thought it would be a nice place to revisit. Straight off the bat service was horrible I had booked a reservation and yet had to wait at the door despite it being extremely quiet. Once seated we weren't given menus so we waited for a while and then once we stood and asked finally got them! The pizza came out cold, and the pasta came out so dry we could barely eat it and it had so little flavour we doused it in Parmesan and salt which still didn't save what was already a too far gone pasta. The two of us just dealt with it. It wasn't the most horrible thing I've ever eaten but after about a quarter I couldn't stomach anymore if it. We went here as it was going to be easier for us with the kids. One wanted Hawaiian Pizza and the other pasta. I have had the Mariana pasta and my partner had the chicken veggie salad. The pasta's were bland the chicken was ok but also bland. They brought those 3 meals out first, I then had to ask twice about the pizza with neither of the waiters coming back to tell what is happening, the 3rd time I ask and told them straight away this is poor service. He went and found out about the pizza and it had been forgotten as they were busy in the kitchen (did not look busy). Pizza finally came out but we had all finished our meals. It looked like they had thrown the pizza together. They did say they would not charge me for the pizza but it still cost $124. Drinks were 2 beers @ $7.50 (normal) 1 cider $7.90 (good price) and 2 kids lemonade and raspberry @ 7.50 each (your kidding me, kids drinks) over priced, very average food and poor service. read more
