This is a winery so they have events in which they have food and wine pick up. Sometimes there is an event there that sponsors a particular charity or something for the Humane Society. The owners of this place are awesome. Yes there is wine. That you can sample. There's also barrel tasting. sit outside and enjoy the view. Bring your friends and relax. read more

Mr. Toxqui (Toe ski) is such a gifted wine maker. A very humble shop but incredible wines. The Chardonnay made in the French style is clear and crisp yet with great body. Red blends and Zin definitely a must try. It was a great experience. read more

We stopped by just in time for the cellar club handing out tasting and pizza. They offered three types of wines so I asked for the Chardonnay and my husband asked for the Rose. We sat down and enjoyed the area and people. The lady brought over fresh slices of wood fire pizza and it was delicious. Light with goat cheese and pear, the perfect pairing with the wines. Both my husband and I loved the Rose because I was light and refreshing for a hot day. This is my style, chill and a local musician was getting ready to play. I realize it was a private event and went up to give them our glasses and ask to purchase their wine. Chatted with the lady for a couple minutes thanked her for letting us stop by. Definitely going to try to order this wine when I get back home. read more

Family members have been sending me bottles of Cesar Toxqui's wine as a Christmas present for the past two years. So, I was delighted to come see the winery operation in person and to meet Cesar. We learned about the TLC he gives his wine from wine making to shipping. This is not a "fancy" tasting vineyard, but it is The Real Deal. Fancy = unnecessary. Enjoyed our little tasting. This is a mom and pop family winery highly recommended by our friend Bruce. They were closed and open by appointment only and I failed to properly plan, but I called them on my way to Hopland and Ruth agreed to meet us at the tasting room in 45 minutes for our own private tasting (full disclosure, my friend is a member of their wine club). Ruth was so fun and entertaining and let us try anything she had in the tasting room and the wines were reasonably priced and high quality for the price. We really loved the Heirloom red blend and the new reserve Zin! We took home a whole case of wine, plus 3 ports (yes that one is fabulous too!). I highly recommend calling them and scheduling a tasting, you won't be disappointed!!! read more

This is another winery I am beholden to my father for introducing me to and so thankful that he did. When you add a fun loving, family and community oriented, down to earth wine maker to an delicious set of wines you are basically looking at a good time every time you visit their cellars. Both Cesar and his wife Ruth are another example of the friendly and welcoming people who have turned their passion for wine into a business in the Hopland area. Each one of their wines is labeled and named after family members and family history bringing a lot of personalization to the wines. When it comes to my zins I want something that when I smell it I am awashed with a big fruity bold scent from that fruit and that gives me just a little tickle from the spice. Taste wise I want it to sit on my tounge, leave a remenant of big flavour after I've swallowed and make me want to eat a steak. Well this desire is sastisfied here. While I very much enjoy their Anderson Valley Zins because they satisfy my above mentioned zin desires, their Heirloom blend is the wine that brings my family back each year now. (if you ever get a chance to drink with somoeone who can do a vertical tasting of 1-5 do it!!). While there are subtle differences from year to year Cesar consistently makes a delicous blend that is not to be passed up. The other perk is that for being a smaller boutique winery their prices are incredibly resonable. I have not been up to their new tasting room yet but their old tasting room was always warm and welcoming and you could feel the decoartive touch of Ruth. Second Saturdays are always fun to start off here before mosying on to otehr locations. If you are driving through I would highly suggest stopping, and if you are looking for a fun wine club to join this one is a good one to give a shot! read more

I am not easily impressed, but Cesar truly impressed me during my visit to his tasting room. It is wonderfully refreshing to talk to someone who has been in the wine industry for decades, and whose knowledge is evidence of that. The tasting room is charming and inviting, and the wines are varied for all types of tastes. My wife is obsessed with the Heirloom 6, as am I. I enjoy amazing wines and that is why I was able to get a job moving from Boston to Healdsburg last year. Sonoma county has great wines, but Mendocino is a hidden gem, and Cesar Toxqui vineyard is a rare diamond. Cesar Toxqui's vineyard is known more for their reds. Love, Love this vineyard. All the wines are amazing, with a robust flavor in your mouth. The two wines that are extraordinary are Ruthless Red, and 2012 Zinfandel-Split Rock Ranch. I am so happy that I found this vineyard. The tasting room is very quaint. I met Cesar, the winemaker and his wife at the tasting room. Cesar is so passionate about his wines. Both Cesar and his wife are very knowledgeable, humble, and extremely friendly and when I left the tasting room with many bottles, I knew I would be back again. Although Napa and Sonoma are great areas for wines, Mendocino is amazing; plus you do not have to deal with huge crowds. It is a more intimate experience if you like wine. Thank you Cesar. If you are a zinfandel drinker this is a must stop for you! The notes on the zinfandel and the Syrah were well rounded and very well made. You can really taste the love and attention to detail that Caesar and Ruth put into their wines. Living in Utah, we can't join any wine clubs by law, so we special order cases of his Russian River Pinot Noir through our Nazi Government run State stores. Not only is he one of the finest winemakers in California, he's also great to talk with. He will tell you all about the ins and outs of great wine as you taste his selection. Just passing Hopland when we came across Cesar Toxqui today on the way home. We stopped in, and had a marvelous tasting of the best wines in Hopland. The Cabernet and Heirloom III was by far the best I've had in a long time. The port wasn't syrupy, it went down smooth. We bought a few bottles, and had such a great experience with Ruth and Cesar. One of the newer tasting rooms in Hopland, and definitely one that is worth a visit. Good wines, especially the Heirloom red blend and the Dulce Paloma. Generally there are about 6 [or so] wines tasting at a time. A pleasant tasting experience. read more
