I've grew up around firearms, therefore I've never been afraid of them. This is a quality that left when I enrolled in the CCW course and pistol handling course with Elton Keith Curry. I learned many laws and ways that if you do not handle the firearms correctly or obey state laws owning a gun could in fact be a one way ticket to jail, or if you do not understand the correct way to handle a firearm this could lead to an injury or death. Reading this shouldn't scare you, it should engage you to want to learn things that many people think they know, but don't. That's what this class and Elton did for me. Most people view firearms as an unnecessary object that causes more deaths than doing good. But firearms are just like vehicles. If you do not know how to operate a vehicle properly and don't obey state traffic laws then that could send you to the slammers or worse put people's lives in danger! But a car doesn't have a trigger so that's different right? NOT! The courses I took with Elton was eye opening, and when I said my comfort with firearms went out the window I inferred that what replaced comfort was respect. I respect what my firearm does and what purpose it is for. I respect it enough to have it safely stored until the day I need to use it. The classes also gave me confidence in myself, made me realize my limits (one handed shooting). I respect my abilities and the firearm. And I owe that all to Elton. Not many people understand how important it is to have the right to protect yourself or your family and the knowledge until the day you need it. Mr. Curry was awesome! My husband and I attended a CCW class together. He was VERY informative, answered all questions and really made us think. He provided scenarios where we thought we knew the law, and he provided open forum and discussion so we could learn. He is knows his stuff! The instructor, Elton, was down to earth and very knowledgable. He discussed key points that I had questions with regarding firearms laws in AZ and also with interstate transporting of a firearm.
