We had our driveway replaced by CH Paving and we have also used them for sealcoating multiple times. Prior to our driveway being replaced water pooled in certain areas when we had heavy rain. Charlie, the owner, made sure the driveway was graded properly and came out to inspect the work himself. I appreciate everything Charlie and his team did to make sure we were happy with our driveway. I was promised it would take 1 day, it took multiple. I was told you couldn't finish last Friday because of rain then you finished Monday when it rained anyway. I specifically told your office last Friday they couldn't finish Monday. They you show up unannounced on my property Monday and finish it anyway when I wasn't home. It is around an apartment house and they turned it into a LAKE when it rains. Foreman told me he did not need to use a transit!! Now the tenants all run to move their cars from parking spaces since it floods like never before!! Foreman was a complete jackass! Also they skimped on the amount of asphalt that was contracted for. Had weeds going though in a couple of weeks. Now the driveway and parking lot has more cracks than the one I ripped up! I have to tell you you I have used you for over 30 years and will never use you again I don't know what going on but your service is now terrible. It took you over two weeks to get us an estimate and we had to keep calling you, BTW we are repeat sealing customer so you should have had the measurements(in fact you paved our driveway also). We asked you last spring and your service has tripled. I sit here now at 6 PM for the second day with no driveway seal but on top of it no call. I get you get you get backed up but i don't get no call two days in a row. We have changed our schedule for two days for this and we got nothing and no call. CH Paving was scheduled arrive at 8 am to seal my driveway and when nobody called or showed up by 9:10 am, I called several times and kept getting their voice mail. Nothing like having someone answering customer calls during business hours I finally connected with a woman in the office who told me they were backed up because of the Sunday rain. I understand but today is Wednesday and if they knew they were backed up 2 days ago, why not be respectful and give us a heads up that the 8 am time is no longer accurate. I was told that they don't answer the phone when on other jobs and when she had more info she'd call me back. That never happened and I have since given the job to another company. They can't be any worse than CH. DO NOT USE THIS DISRESPECTFUL, DISORGANIZED COMPANY!! read more

CH paving is a joke. I literally waited a week after other work was done by their referred contractor, by the way did excellent work. thanks. But for CH I will never recommend them for anything ever again. Had a signed contract and the day they were to pave they skipped out and said it was too low of a cost to pave. And insisted I changed the scope of the job. Total outright lie and Charlie or whoever is the owner is a scum. Luckily I got my second choice to do the job the same day for less money than ch..... all is good. for me.... Great office administration however the owner refused to honor the proposed price. This happened after I took the afternoon off of work to meet the owner at my home to start the job. He took one look at the area to be paved (550 sf) and said the $2,200 quoted was not enough for the job. I offered to show him the proposal (it contained a diagram of the area to be paved, sf and price) but he said he already had the proposal and did not know what Alan and he estimator was looking at. My recommendation is to make sure you have a clear specification of the work, measure the blacktop thickness - as it is being applied - and have a backup plan if he renegs. read more

Contractors never showed up to do the work as promised. Left us high and dry waiting the entire day without notice. Having left messages and emails only received a call back after I cancelled the order. Lost what could well be the last weather permitting day in the season for a sealcoat. I thought the job was inferior, but when I contacted the owner to complain I was basically told that they were paid, so the job was considered DONE! It didn't matter that I was unhappy. He later told me that he "drove by" and thought that the job his men did was fine. I had to laugh...it was not done to my satisfaction, so to me...it wasn't "fine". After a verbal battle, it sounded like the owner Charlie might be willing to make good and fix the driveway, but he never showed and I haven't heard from him since. Hired CH Paving to do my daughter's driveway in Bernardsville last summer. They did an excellent job and a year later, the driveway looks as good as just done. The job was challenging. It required the removal of a tree stump and filling in uneven terrain. Couldn't be happier with the results. The crew was efficient and respectful. All contracts were discussed via phone and email. The work that was actually done was fine; however, the customer service and actual interaction with the employees was HORRIBLE. We had a hard time getting a hold of them to actually set the time for them to pave the driveway - it was constant phone tag as every call goes to voicemail. When we finally did get an appointment set, they did not show up on the day that they said they would. My husband took a day off work but the paving crew did not come on the day they said they would. No one from the office called us despite several voice messages. The paving crew showed up the next day, and I was luckily home from work for another reason. I was annoyed with all of the scheduling issues we had, but did tell the foreman that I understood that it was not his fault. He was combative and at one point yelled at me to "go back in my house." His crew did the work and when they were done I gave him a check and he continued to argue with me. Granted I was upset given all of the scheduling issues and the lack of response from voicemails, but this gentleman's behavior was completely unacceptable and probably the worst experience I've ever had with someone I've hired to provide services at my home. read more
