Reviewing as a visitor to dropoff a soil sample at IH5139, I got forced to see this urban oasis on…read morethe same road north 2mi from my home and what an impressive, generous campus. First, the dropoff of the soil sample was easy with a dropoff box and I encourage anyone wanting a soil sample tested to dropoff or ship to this lab. Only a few others on the East Coast (namely land grant colleges like Rutgers, Penn State, SUNY, etc.) do these in case you wonder if your garden is safe for growing edible plants. As for the campus, a stately grand colonial architectural feel which even the new buildings like the arts center maintains. Copious all brick and white wood accents all exteriors with large grand height and stature as to shield, distance, and obviate the buzzing Brooklyn noisy locales all around the perimeter from the Flatbush commercial strip to Ocean Ave's speedy traffic to the Caribbean and Russian and other communities adjacent. Entry points are namely from Ocean Ave at Ave H by car to the ring road, Campus Road, or Brooklyn College stop on 2/5 trains on the eastern edge. Easy navigation thanks to a simple layout over just 35 acres makes getting lost unlikely even for unfamiliar visitors using the campus as a park. The famous lily pond is particularly tranquil. The most recent famous event here was Sanders' campaign launch a few months ago, but the arts center is its own busy community set of arts events and there're so very many student orgs doing so many great activities here. Brooklyn College is also home to a cafe in Boylan Hall and nice athletics fields which while not for public use are nice open spaces to admire and enjoy. All in all, a wonderful campus with tons of community works totalling a great asset to the community and city.

I took the course and agree with other reviewers about the poor physical situation BUT more…read moreimportant to me was the fact that, after 3 or 4 sessions the "instruction" basically consisted of reading 100 or more pages at home and then taking a practice exam in the class. That is not my definition of "teaching". Insurance entails many different categories of consumers and products, each of which might be slightly different from the other. Although Joe did give out an excellent review sheet, it should only supplement teaching. Then there were all the times that the class was cancelled (never made up), or that the instructor gave us an exam to do while he was TEACHING ANOTHER COURSE IN A DIFFERENT ROOM. Several students in my course just dropped out--wonder why...especially with the high tuition they paid..

I have just finished my 4th day of Real Estate Salesperson classes at REEDC. The ONLY reason I am…read moregiving it 4 stars is because I really like and respect the teacher, Joe Osie. Other than that, if it was just the school by itself, I would give it more like 2 stars. Everyone knows what summer is like in NYC - ESPECIALLY on those dog days where you can't do much to cool down. Imagine a SCHOOL where the A/C is busted and it takes 3 days of complaining to get them to address it. And even then, all they did was throw some fans in the room to move the hot air around! Their attitude is no better. They are planning to charge an additional $50 for a review class at the end, just because they feel like it (even though the teacher offered to do it for $25). Yes, it's their prerogative to make money but at least they could have included it into the class structure without making us feel totally gouged. ALSO, I have a sneaking suspicion that the soap in the bathroom is mostly water. Really. I think they actually filled the soap dispensers with water. Who does that? Again, I highly recommend Joe Osie as a teacher. It's true he tells goofy jokes and loves to talk but he is quick and gets you in and out without needless information. (I will let you know more when/if I pass my school and state tests in 2 weeks)!!!

Although I have someone at home to watch her, just staying home all the time was proving to be more harmful for her than not. Enrolling her into the 2K program here was the best decision I ever made. Sure, it is pricy but it was well worth it. She was receiving more than just adequate care. It seems like all the teachers/staff/administrators know every child by name. She cried for the first couple weeks and kept her distance from everyone but she was soon able to crawl out of her shell and make some friends! She started speaking more at home (won't stop now lol) and would tell me who she played with and what her teachers (Ms. Julie and Ms. Mei) had taught her. When Ms. Mei helped to fix her hair, she would not let me touch it! Same with the stickers and tattoos that she received. She would treat them like her greatest treasure. And no matter what it is that I ask about -- "who taught you that?", her answer is ALWAYS "Mei Mei". That only shows how much love she received while she was at school and she has grown so fond of her teachers. It is also great that the teachers are able to speak Cantonese. I want to encourage my children to stay bilingual. I was excited to see Chinese (Mandarin) as part of the curriculum but unfortunately it is not in the 3K curriculum... I love the updates I get at the end of the day -- pictures showing me how she was doing. Seeing those pictures really makes my day. She is now in 3K with Ms. Anne and Ms. Karin and I cannot wait to see and hear all the good things about this school year from my daughter!
