Last week, I was picking up some bread to eat with lunch at the stall next door, when the friendly man selling Cannon & Cannon sausage informed me that my sourdough baguette would really benefit from some of his delicious charcuterie....as it turns out, he was right. He let us sample 6 or 7 different types of stick sausage on offer. They were all really delicious and represented a great variety of flavors and textures. The stand outs were a pork sausage made with blood, red wine and chocolate (i'm not usually a fan of sweet/savoury, but the bitterness of dark chocolate really adds a lot to this rich sausage that is SO GOOD with eggs). My personal favorite was the lamb merguez which was spicy and bright with lemon peel and chili--I cooked it into a super tasty tomato and white bean soup. I stopped back today and picked up a duck/pork sausage with sichuan peppercorn that I am SO excited to try. These sausages are a tad costly (3 for £11), but I was clearly happy to pay up! Definitely worth a shout (if only just to taste the million different varieties).

They don't really discount, so maybe you can buy one slab of meat a week from here for Sunday dinner. If you do want to sample some of their meat but you're on a budget, usually during warm weather periods they smoke/roast a pig on the road outside of their shop and make pork sandwiches on the weekend. The pig smells delightful as you're walking up the street. When you see it on the skewer rotating around it looks kind of sad because usually the head is still on it, but it still smells so good. The sandwiches are amazing and they're only £3. So sorry for the little oinker that's on the barby, but so happy for my tummy.

You can tells it's still a butchers though, the doggies of Stokie can confirm. As they walk past, their leads pull and noses dampen with excitement. They have a small selection of cheese and drinks and at the back they have a great wine room. It's all set up for tastings so it'll be great to see what they decide to do events wise over the next few months. There is a large outside space so if they use that, this will be a bit of a foodie mecca. I love the fact that the wine is split up so you can pair it easily with your meats.
