I had a 90 minute massage that combined both Thai stretching and relaxing oil massage by Mariann (a Thai woman who had been massaging for 2 years.) Mariann applied medium to strong pressure which is what I asked for. She also did some good stretching, though I think next time I will ask for more stretching. I feel great following the massage. The tension is gone in my back & I can turn my head without any discomfort. The rooms are located in an office building, which is a little odd. But once you step into the reception and room, you would not know it was an office building. The lighting and ambiance was good. I could not hear any external noise. I had my massage on the weekend, which meant the buildings air conditioning was not on. This did make the room warm, though there was a good portable air conditioner to keep the air moving. I preferred that it was warm as I think being in air conditioning would could make me feel cold when parts of my body were uncovered. The massage table was very wide, which meant there was no risk of falling off during stretching. It was lightly padded but I found it very comfortable. It was so comfortable that I almost fell asleep with having my feet massaged. It was a very good experience. I will be going back.

Doing push-ups... okay not push-ups but it feels like a full body workout. Enter Dr Massage (chinese massage). They are awesome! You get in there without an appointment and those tiny little chinese girls and boys hammer whatever body part you want to death. They are surprisingly strong and they use their elbows... and how do I say this politely... really get in there! You can ask them to use less pressure of course, but when your back, shoulders and neck lock up from carrying kids around doing things in general, you want them to hammer those knots out. My massage therapist did exactly that, I got the $20 20 minute neck and shoulders massage and it was a bit painful I must admit, but she got that sucker out. I am knot free until next time and guess what? I flashed my MBF card and only had to pay $2. This is by far the bargain of the century, they offer rebates to about a million other healthcare providers too, alway a treat. As an added bonus, you get a frequent visitor card and a discount after your 4th treatment. I can't fault them, they don't speak really good english, but hey it's probably good because when you're trying to relax, you really don't want the therapist chatting up a storm... this is a great little place. I'm now putting both my hands up with a little bit of a woot woot, you know why? I'm knot free.

I had no plans of trying another massage clinic in Mt Om because I assumed no one in the area would match up with my favourite place here. As I continued trudging with my shopping bags, I turned and looked up and saw a bright sign, 'Dr Massage'. That was it. I had to enquire! The lovely lady at the counter was very friendly. She chatted to me briefly about their service, but she didn't need to convince me any further, I had already decided yes. I gave them a wave of my MBF card and it knocked $25 off my $65 massage. Brilliant! Whole body massage for only $40. You can't complain! I was shown a chart of different scented massage oils and asked which I'd prefer. I went with the popular aromatic lavender. I requested a female masseuse, being a whole body massage and all, I didn't want to feel uncomfortable one bit. And they kindly obliged and introduced me to Helen my massage therapist. She was wonderful. Strong, consistent and with great technique. I literally feel asleep for parts of it. It was so relaxing and she applied the perfect amount of pressure. After the massage is done, they wipe off the oil with a hot towel. That was also a very relaxing experience. The only thing that I wasn't too fond of here is the massage space being so tiny. I'm sure the massage therapists bump into each as the move about the area massaging their clients. It's such a tight squeeze, I feared toppling over while undressing and no, there are no walls to lean on should that happen... You'd just fall through the curtains in full view of the mall to see. Thank goodness, that didn't happen. However, once your eyes are closed, you completely forget this and the background noise fades... And you enter a complete euphoric state. Look, I'm sure what they were REALLY saying was, "She's booked in for 5:30pm, so make sure you're done by 7pm." "I thought I was going home at 7pm?" "No, there's another client coming in before we close." I know, right? Imagine me in a foreign country. Anyway. Once I calmly got past that irrational panic, my experience at Montra Thai Day Spa was awesome. The room was dim and private, with no outside sounds. The massage table was a huge, sturdy wooden beast that I felt 100% confident about lying on without it wobbling and/or threatening to fall down (I feel like this about a number of massage "tables"). The massage was thorough and effective, not weak and unprofessional like some other places I've experienced. No awkward table talk. I was happy enough with the service that I purchased a follow-up voucher and I look forward to using that some time soon.

This is exactly what happened this weekend and I have no regrets. For $25 I happily settled on a 20min neck and shoulder massage. It isn't a day spa so don't expect a lot of frills and the staff are still friendly (or so I found). I was led to the massage table and lay down before a few cloths were placed over me. There's no oils (unless you've selected that option) or unrobing so it's a quick starting point. My masseuse started working on the knots in my shoulder and all my tension started melting. It wasn't long before I was a relaxed heap on the massage table. She was very understanding and responsive when I mentioned the pressure on my neck at one point was too hard. Yes, you are in a shopping centre and there is the sounds of people passing by. To be honest, though, it all kind of blurs into white noise and with a little focus it's not a detractor from the massage. 24 hours on and my neck and shoulders feel looser than they have in a long time, and at $25 a pop it's something I can easily consider on a weekly basis! They don't currently have private health rebates on the spot but we were told that they will in a month or so.

This is really a no-frills service. If you're doing a foot massage, the masseuse wipes off the massage cream with kitchen paper towels. The water used for soaking feet is plain, no herbs or scent added. The cream used is also no frills. No fancy towels or beds. Their beds are solid wood laid with checked sheets. BUT, having said all that, the techniques are top-notch. I've been to other massage places within the mall where I have to remember the name of a good masseuse if I come across because I get different results each time with different people.However at Happy Foot, no matter who I get, I'm guaranteed of absolute relaxation and relieved knots. The staff seem very diligent everytime I visit - they don't stare out and watch the shoppers pass by when massaging their clients, as other massage shops do. They focus on getting the right pressure and results. They may glance out now and then, but that's perfectly fine - don't we all get distracted at work? What I REALLY like is their face piece. As someone with a small head, I either get the oval impressions on my forehead with regular facepieces or just feel very very uncomfortable when the edges of the facepiece presses against different parts of my face. At Happy Foot, they use a spongy, faux leather bound face piece support so that your face doesn't just hang down against the face piece. Besides supporting my face, it also has a 'cheek piece' so that the weight of my face is evenly distributed. Love it! I've gone there a few times now and have enjoyed every session.

There were however other people on tables next to me(behind a curtain of course) and they were chatting which was good, as it was funny hearing some of the men wince in pain.
