When we began looking for a mortgage, I first applied with that online mortgage company that…read moreadvertises about their "rocket" mortgages. Well, that was a joke, as I was approved for a high-rate FHA loan...even though my income and down payment were high. I was sure I could get a conventional loan at a much lower rate. I randomly picked John Pyne at Intercoastal Mortgage off of Redfin's list of recommended lenders, and struck gold. John assured me during our initial conversation that I shouldn't have trouble qualifying for a conventional loan at the lowest rate, and he did deliver. I didn't even have to haggle or ask for better; his initial estimate beat out every other rate I saw when doing online mortgage rate queries. The origination fees weren't the rock-bottom lowest, but quite fair considering the service we received from John's team. Working with John and his team was very pleasant. We provided all the documents they asked for at the beginning, and they did a great job putting together our loan package. There were only a few minor items requested later by the underwriter (which John unnecessarily apologized about). John's team pretty much hand-held us through the whole loan process and kept us updated on their progress, and there were no unpleasant surprises at closing time. Overall, I highly recommend John Pyne and Intercoastal Mortgage. They are just as fast as the "rocket" company...and better.
