I had everything I needed a 60,000-down payment, credit score, and a mortgage certificate. I sacrifice everything and, wait for years to get house of my own. They didn't at all help me. They rejected my application, and said I need another down payment of 60,000. A total of 120000. They crush my dreams and I'm still living in hell. read more

I always pay my mortgage payment early. Try to do it this month and I couldn't access my online portal. Contacted customer services and they couldn't access the portal either. Then she found out the online site isn't working. Communication about this would have been great customer service...but I guess once you are a customer customer service goes out the window. The absolute worst. Military members using the VA loan should avoid at all costs. I sold my home after using them for the original mortgage. MONTHS later after the home had closed, they received all documents, and the new owner had provided everything needed financially they reported me late on my mortgage. They stated they had taken care of this issue, and admitted to the error on their part, but did absolutely nothing about it. They were beyond negligent and cause a massive amount of stress. I also did a loan assumption through the VA loan and they took over a year to complete the process because they are literally that horrible to work with. read more

First Home Mortgage is in violation of the CARES act. I recently co-signed on a re-fi and we went with First Home because a family friend of ours works in their local office. My initial call with the loan officer was great - she was knowledgeable and responsive, answered all of my questions and was generally very helpful. After that, it went downhill. I was handed off to several people throughout the process, each had requests for different information that were unclear and inconsistent. At one point I was unsure about how to proceed so I called their office and one of their employees was incredibly rude and seemed like it was annoying and inconvenient that I needed help of any kind. At that point, I almost canceled the entire process but decided to push forward as I simply didn't want to start it all over again. Shortly after closing my co-signer lost her job due to COVID and we realized we might struggle to cover the payments. I consulted the CFPB who informed me that since our loan is a Freddie Mac loan, we are eligible for forbearance WITHOUT a lump sum payment due at the end of our deferral period. However, despite several calls to First Home to ask them for this relief to which we are legally entitled, they have refused and insisted that all deferred payments will be due in a lump sum at the conclusion of the 90 day forbearance. Reluctantly, we've made the first payment as we see no point in deferring if the full balance will come due in 90 days anyway. Today, I received an alert that a derogatory remark has been added to my credit report indicating that I've been affected by a "natural disaster" which is apparently what lenders are doing for people who cannot make payments as a result of COVID-related hardship. After doing some research online, I've found that this remark can be used against me when applying for future loans. So in addition being denied the relief to which we're legally entitled, no loan modification, and making our first payment on time, I'm now being hit with derogatory mark on my credit report. We've been treated very poorly by this company and I strongly discourage anyone from using First Home as a mortgage lender. read more
