As I'm sinking into my new ergonomic chair typing this review after a 6 hour round trip of non-stop driving, I'm thinking to myself: "this is worth it." All my life, I've settled for less--choosing cheap "gaming" chairs or office chairs from Amazon. I've tried to make the chairs more comfortable by buying seat cushions. All of it results in a sore back and behind. This must change. I have a desk job sitting at a computer for a good chunk of the day. I cannot settle for this. I must invest, for my comfort and for my back/behind! I went and tried out various chairs in a local furniture store and settled on a particular brand and model that I enjoyed. But their asking price was absolutely bonkers! As it turns out... after some significant research, I can get it for a steep discount across the border. So I reached out to Chairlines who has a significant online presence, a location relatively close to the border (screw the shipping fees, I rather drive), and the make/model that I want. They were quick to reach back out (even when I missed the initial message, sorry Katya!), help create the custom order with the exact specs I wanted (beyond their website offering), and handle the arrangements. They said 6-8 weeks. To my surprise, I received an email 3 weeks later (a few days ago from this review) that my order was ready for pick-up! 3 hours later, I'm parked in front of the Langley branch of Chairlines trying to fit this huge chair in the back of my tiny car. Fortunately, one of the staff members (Mary, thanks!) helped wrestle the chair into my car like a oversized jigsaw puzzle. Usually I'm quite pro for retail businesses that specialize in something, but these guys only have 1 type of chair made with breathable mesh: even Staples has better selection. And we're not talking about a mom and pop shop here, as there seems to be some type of action or facility going on behind the counter, which by the way, is staffed by 2 nice girls. Shows the kind of margin in this business lol. And the one ergo chair I did like, with a nice silver pattern mesh, see-through so no sweat can accumulate when I sit sometimes for awhile, was $700. When I think about how many hours I spend sitting in a chair, at my desk for hours on end, staring at the computer, it kinda makes me sick. So yes, ergonomic chairs are expensive, but for the amount of hours spent sitting in them, and the benefit your body will feel, to me it's worth it. In the summer I badly bruised my coccyx (tailbone) and sitting has been painful for more than 6 months. I've tried inflatable coccyx rings, different types of seats, all to no avail. Now, I'm not saying the $600 chair from Chairlines is magical and solved everything, but I appreciated how the staff member listened to my tale of woe and then made suggestions based upon that. She showed me 2 chairs - one without added padding and an increased dip in the tailbone area, and another which actually featured a triangular cut-out in the foam seating and covered with fabric (you wouldn't have known it was there). The staff member was helpful, knowledgeable, and explained the different uses/benefits of various products in-store. She also could tell me different recommended usages, such as how your arm rests should be parallel with the desk, or that you should have a 2-3 inch gap behind your knees so you don't cut off circulation. I also really appreciated that she was not pushy. Some might interpret this as being disinterested. But when I expressed my hesitation between a sale model (final sale) and another showroom option (exchangeable), the staff member stated, "You're welcome to stay longer and sit for a while to make sure". So I sat. And tried. And then dropped a butt load of money to take a load off my butt. read more

I was in need of a new office chair for my home office. I had gone the Costco route with my previous chair and it was ok but it was made in China quality with limited adjustments. The price was around $300.00 9 years ago and over time the mechanism broke, arms wore out, foam was shot and became problematic after 4 or 5 years. During this time I didn't realize how the the chair was messing up my posture. Given that I spend 30+ hours a week in the chair I wanted something more ergonomic with a good warranty and parts availability. I checked out Staples and Costco again but both sell the basic made in China office chair and nothing was working meeting my needs. I visited Chairlines in Vancouver and was blown away with the assortment and the quality of their products. I tried several chairs while being coached on correct posture, arm height, back angle, adjustibility, features, quality and warranty. I ended up buying an ErgoCentric high back chair with incredible adjustments, quality (made in Canada) and warranty. The seat adjusts in and out, back tilts & lifts up and down, inflatable lumbar, adjustable height swivel armrests, adjustable head rest. high density foam, ..the list goes on and on. I have had this chair for 3 weeks and I absolutely love it. These high end chairs are not cheap but you get what you pay for. Most importantly, the service and knowledge at Chairlines was invaluable. I could not have picked the correct chair for me without their expertise. Do yourself a favor and check them out before you buy an office chair. read more

Since I have not been in the store or seen any of their product, this review is purely a customer service review. I live on the island, knew exactly what I needed and over the course of a month, just could not find it anywhere but the Obusforme website. Lots of places over here carry Obusforme products but only one was willing to spend a couple of minutes checking cost of ordering one in...uh, uh. Then I Googled the product with "Vancouver" in the title. Up popped Chairlines with what I was looking for. On sale, cheaper than anywhere. I emailed, they were out of stock, would not be restocking but could order one and would honor the sale price. Nicole was fantastic through the whole process. I haven't used my home office that much since I moved into this house last summer. That was then - this is now! Finishing up my 4th week working from home, putting in 10 hour days, I am so grateful for my chair from Chairlines. I remember after my first two days of working from home my back was aching, my arse was numb and I needed way too many breaks to get things done. I had to do something so I called the folks at Chairlines. Rob asked me a few questions and recommended three chairs for me to try. I chose the one I liked the best and Rob demonstrated all the features and followed up with emailing me videos on how everything works and how to best set up the chair. I can honestly say I don't think about my chair much anymore which is the way it should be. The chair was not cheap but based on my experience these past few weeks, the value I am receiving is worth what I paid and more. I just can't recommend this outfit. have been waiting patiently for my new desk, chair, keyboard, mouse, etc since October 2014. after multiple delays, promises to return calls that never occurred and angry words, I finally received most of my order last week and am still waiting for one piece to be delivered. sadly, my new setup isn't quite right so I called up the company expecting great service because I've been waiting for sooooo long. instead, I get a message back telling me that that my seemingly simple request will require me to jump through a bunch of hoops!! in a nutshell, horrible service, weak management, poor return policy and high prices. Extremely pleased with the product selection and the staff is really knowledgeable. They have items here I didn't even know existed and it makes me wonder why every office worker isn't more educated about office ergonomics.. I came here looking for a new office chair and couldn't believe how many options they had, the staff takes the time to help you try out different chairs and find the one that fits your body and gives you support where you need it. I ended up browsing for an hour learning about all the different mice and keyboards, standing workstations and alternative options they have. One stop shopping for all the ergonomic equipment you can think of. The front line staff like Susanne are generally very friendly and helpful. The problem lies in the backend operation. As said in another review, they cater more to corporate customers, and I am not one of those. You can pay some mysterious "installation" fee so that Chairlines will handle the warranty return. If you don't pay, you need to go directly to the manufacturer. I paid that fee thinking it was delivery and installation, but then I found out that it is "free" delivery that cannot be scheduled ahead of time; they call on the day when they happen to be out and about.
