It was a horrible feeling having a broken phone. I just found out their store and went there straightaway and got it fixed in less than 30 mins of time which was truly amazing. They have added one loyal customer into their list. Highly recommend. For any kinds of repairs whether they are samsung , iphones , tablets, ipads and laptops as well, just straightway go there without any second thought. This is the third MSY place I've reviewed, and it's the one I've used the least. Not through…read moreanything this place has done to put me off going there, though. I just find that the location hasn't often been convenient for me to shop at, as when I'm in Adelaide, I'll usually be in the city, and when I'm at home, well, that's not anywhere near Adelaide, full stop. I bought a new box in here a few months ago. I think it was an Antec 300. A power supply too, a fairly good one. Both had been going really well. I think since I went in there, they've reorganised the shop, if they're anything like the other MSYs I've been too. Now, you don't go to the counter and ask the staff to get the parts you're after, you need to walk through the store, pick up what you want (which is tricky if you don't know what the packaging looks like), and walk to the queue at the counter. MSY really aren't about service. They're about being very cheap. If you've got a faulty product, then they won't be exchanging it, they'll be sending it off to the manufacturer, and you'll be lucky if you see it again in the next month, usually more. But that's part of the chance you take when shopping somewhere so cheap.

I don't know what it is about places like this, maybe it's for former IT support guy in me. The guys who run it are great and really know their stuff. They offer good prices on PC repairs and on newly built systems. Being a recent Mac convert I can't say I'm too interested in buying a PC, but I can appreciate it for those who do. Basically they are an electronics store with some really cool stuff, but I personally like their range of weird/gadgety 'toys'. Everything from usb Sponge Missile Launchers to minature R/C helicopters, not to mention the remote controlled Horse Racing set (gave that to my Girlfriends Dad for his last Birthday). I often spend a good 30 minutes in there with each vist, and usually end up leaving thinking that I need some form of optic fibre camera or a night scope (for my spy work).

Looking for a fold-able piano keyboard that plugs into your computer via USB? Jaycar electronics just might have it. That said though, they don't just sell cool electronics and tech that you wouldn't normally find anywhere else, they are also a a very well equipped electronics store that sells everything from cabling to circuits. For the hardcore DIY electronics person, Jaycar electronics is another option you should consider if you want to buy circuit boards, batteries and LED's (did I mention as well that they sell USB fold-able piano's?). The staff there know their stuff and are very helpful if there is something specific that you need. Don't expect to find iPads, Xbox 360's or the latest Twilight DVD in this store though. They are more focused on supplying electrical components and parts and their own take on consumer electronics. Still, I'll always walk into the store whenever I happen to be passing by just to see what new stuff they might be stocking on their shelves. That is one of the main appeals of this store to me, so if you're ever in chinatown and are looking for a USB fold-able piano (ok, I know this is third time I'm mentioning it, and they probably don't stock it any more), feel free to stop by their store and have a look around. Jaycar has been my one stop shop for many years for all of my PA leads, TV cables, batteries and cords. They have a massive range and the staff are always so lovely and knowledgeable. If you have a dilemma with cabling or parts for your appliances, be sure to speak to them. They have helped me devise different ways to connect different appliances to my TV and stereo. Champions! Jaycar is not all about cables though, they also stock remote helicopters, PA's, stereos, lighting, party equipment (smoke machines). As I said, a one stop shop for electrical and good prices. So, a great place to shop if you are after a gadget style gift. In fact, I did buy one of the most useful household items that I think everyone should own from Jaycar. It is a 6-in-1 battery/power station. Now, this baby has saved my lil' toosh at many events I have run. It has different inputs for electrical devices (USB & AC/DC) and is great when you have no access to power for smaller electrical needs (12V). It has a LED display that indicates how much power you have remaining and is easy to charge. It is designed for campers, so it is a great thing to have in the car if you are planning a big trip to the outback as it also comes with jumper leads for your car!

What many people don't know is that if you're looking for cheap laptops, monitors, cameras, computer parts and accessories, the first place you look shouldn't be in JB Hi-fi or God forbid, Myer??? It should be in places like PC DIY or MSY where you can get things for up to 20 to 30 percent cheaper, depending on what you buy. The last time I was there I was looking for a HDMI converter cable which I managed to get one for a significantly cheaper price compared to if I had gone to the likes of Officeworks, which is another store I do love but for different reasons. If you're looking for custom solutions, you can talk to the people in the shop and they will help you design a computer that suits your needs and price tag. Walking in, you'll be greeted by a large front desk where there is usually at least one shop assistant. They may not seem super friendly to some people who come in for the first time, but they are helpful and straightforward. Most of the people who go into the shop usually know what it is they are looking for and they tend to expect those kinds of customers that walk up to the desk and simply ask them for the component or tech that they are looking for. Whenever I'm looking for cheap good quality tech, the two places I will think of are PC DIY and MSY.

I do occasionally drop in here when I'm after something, but this place is pretty much always my second choice. I've found (and maybe you'll find differently) that MSY is that little bit cheaper, and I can put up with not having my hand held by staff when I'm looking for computer stuff. But there are times when my first choice doesn't have exactly what I need, and that's why I end up here. Ian's reminded me that it needs to be emphasised that you should never, ever go to places like Harvey Norman or Dick Smith's for HDMI cables. Not that long ago, a metre of HDMI cable at those places sold for over fifty bucks. Now they're down to around thirty bucks. At the same time that they were fifty bucks at other places, I bought a three metre HDMI cable here for about fifteen bucks. Good shop. Like it. Prefer MSY, but this place is good too.

I like to go into Harvey Norman occasionally to remind myself why I shop online…read more They have a decent range and the occasional helpful staff member, but getting a decent price requires the annoying dance where you ask how much something is and then ask again how much they can do for cash. After that point they will try and sell you over priced accessories (like a $49 HDMI cable or $100 power-board) and an extended warranty that you don't want.

I think I have been a little spoilt by other Harvey Norman experiences…read more The service is average and very hard to come by, understandably because they don't have enough staff on the floor on the weekend. But when you do get someone to help you, they are knowledgeable, not too pushy and have a wealth of information (even if sometimes they just read off the box and tell you what it means). The range is limited but it certainly is a lot better than many of the other appliance and tech stores in the CBD and compared to the competition. But if I'm not in a rush I would probably head down to one of their superstores for a better range. So yes overall I am a bit meh'd here but it certainly wouldn't stop me going here first if I had to shop for appliances or tech things in the city. I also love Harvey Norman's return policy. If you don't want it, bring it in and they'll return it quickly and easily for you.

Very frustrating experience. The manager at this store is ignorant to consumer rights…read more JB Hi-Fi basically breach of consumer laws. I purchased an expensive set of headphones:- * Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-Ear cost $400.99 Purchase date was 8 May 2022. Today is 22 October 2022. The headphones suddenly stopped connecting via Bluetooth. I tried all the troubleshooting advice online and received an email stating that I should visit my nearest store for a replacement or refund. Hence - I went to West Lakes. The manager Jordan was called because I wanted a replacement. He checked the headphones himself and they wouldn't connect. Jordan stated that they needed to be sent off to Sony (manufacturer) to be checked. I stated this was unacceptable - they had a major fault (didn't work) and I am entitled to a refund or replacement under consumer law. ACCC states: "Businesses can't take away a consumer's right to a refund or replacement for faulty products or services. It's illegal for businesses to rely on store policies or terms and conditions which deny these rights." Jordan refused to refund or replace. He relied upon 'store policy' and denied my rights. Jordan was happy for his photo to be taken - a kind gesture. I advised that I would be giving the store a bad review. Jordan was okay with this. Photo evidence is included. Jordan could have just replaced the headphones. They had a spare set. Poor show - breach of consumer law JB Hi-Fi. Photos included are evidence. I reserve all rights and will be taking this matter further with JB Hi-Fi. But honestly... Just avoid this store - go somewhere else.

JB Hi-Fi and I have a long ongoing relationship. It's pretty serious…read more I don't think I've ever walked into JB to find the store to be quiet. There's always something going on. Plenty of staff, plenty of customers, loud music, huge discounts and security guards (who happen to know me very well by now). The store is pretty brilliant. I've purchased computers and cameras from here with no problems whatsoever. The staff are happy to help and actually know what they're talking about. Of course my favourite thing about JB is the music and DVD section. Oh TV box sets, you are the reason I never have any money. The range is pretty incredible. A huge stock of Disney DVDs, classics, live concerts, action, romance, comedy, musicals, they really have it all! 9 out of 10 times that you're in search of a movie or music cd, JB will have it. If on the odd chance they don't have it, they are more than happy to order it in for you. The only thing I wish I could change about JB Hi-Fi is to make sure they allow a lay-by system. It sucks when the store has 20% off everything but you can't afford it. Especially at Christmas time. A lay-by system would come in handy that's for sure!
