When insurance told me I had to do more PT before I could have a MRI, I chose a more specialized PT. The therapist and her grad assistant both spent a lot of time talking to me to find out when I had the most pain and watching how I walked. Since my hips are quite uneven they helped me to be more conscious of the way I walk and how to use my shoe lifts correctly. They were able to give me core work that would strengthen not only my back, but also my gluts. I have found so much relief through going to them. Every person who I have come in contact with in the office has been caring and compassionate.

I was severely injured in 2013, treated out of state in 2014 and needed care. I was also, because not everything was properly fixed or rehabbed, seeking decent rehab for my issues. One person at this facility (I was at a different location) was lovely. Despite the nature of the care, which is very violating, she was a decent person. The other, once I was having trouble sitting up, treated me dismissively and as if I was just stupid or faking. "maybe you just need to practice sitting up more", she jibed at me, as if I was some gruesome specimen worthy of her disdain. Cut to 2022 and my cervical spine is falling apart, and my core unable to support it. I saw this pelvic therapist once more, and she literally told me scar tissue was "repressed emotional trauma" and that "You're not ready to walk yet" while having a book on crystal healing on her table.. EFF this entire specialty. It is smoke and mirrors, metaphysical faith healing and a complete disregard for the normal methods of physical therapy (none of my ortho physios have ever agreed with these women, and they all turned out to be medically right). Screw the "mindbody" school that ignores the real mechanics of the human body. Weak core muscles lead to cervical spine issues, or worsening cervical spine issues, all of which can devastate the rest of the body, as happened in my case. That isn't related to "childhood trauma" or chakras or a monster under the bed, but literally what you're supposed to be an expert in, PHYSICAL THERAPY. But I should've "practiced sitting up more". FFS, Sara Dominguez, I believe was her name, please learn to do your job or maybe just stay home. If you're asking women to trust you with their naked bodies, also, learn some damned respect.

Working with home health therapists, the furthest I had been able to bend the knee was 56 degrees, and I despaired of reaching the goal of 90 degrees or beyond. My therapist at Body in Motion - who holds a doctorate in physical therapy and teaches at the college level - worked with me over many weeks and ultimately my knee was able to bend to more than 120 degrees, the "gold standard." I felt as if I had a wonderful partner guiding me in this hard work and a convenient and pleasant place in which to work. I'm glad to be well again but miss seeing my therapist, Emily! Orthopedic surgeon sent referral to them for PT and they were supposed to reach out for scheduling…read more Called and left voicemails and they never returned our calls. Contacted surgeon's office again to confirm referral was sent and it was and they re-sent it again. Still never received a call back. Left another voicemail and still didnt receive a call back. Kept trying to call to get a hold of them and finally did nearly 2 weeks later and all they said was that theyre busy. I get being busy but a simple call back to let us know it would be some time before they could get us in wouldve been very easy to do. Now I'm behind on my treatment plan and PT. If you need PT, either go to a different Athletico location or a different provider all together rather than this one

Two local spots I've used (SSOR and Champion Performance & Physical Therapy) charge less than half…read moreof what Athletico charged me for identical services. What's worse is that Athletico wouldn't give me an estimate up front and when I asked questions about bills was repeatedly told things like "it's usually less than that after we work with insurance" or "we're still working it out with insurance" or "we can talk about it next week when our billing guys is back." Bill reaches $1800 before I'm told I owe it all. Raise my frustrations and am told "that's how insurance works, sorry." It actually doesn't - there are other places that are up front with transparent pricing. Not sure is this place was trying to scam me or just incompetent. Tried to make a case for a discount or partial refund but neither the local office or Athletico headquarters would budge. Buyer beware: do you research before you commit to services here. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and it cost me big time.
