They answered any and all questions I had and wanted to make sure that the idea I had for a tattoo was what I wanted to stick with for sure. They drew me a picture and sent me home to make sure that's what I wanted exactly and they saved me a spot in their books. I came back the next week and again they were very welcoming. They made sure I was super comfy in the chair and they had books to look at and when I needed a break it was no problem. I can honestly say I have never had a better experience even since then. Now it is the only place I want to go to get my work done and I feel that i have made new friends at the same time.

The person I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. The shop is really clean and very welcoming. Everyone we encountered seemed to genuinely be happy to be working there. We filled out some paperwork and then waited for our turn! I didn't go into the room with her, but my partner did and he said that Michelle was really great. She took the time to make sure the teen was comfortable and understood what was going to happen - she also went over aftercare thoroughly and made sure we were set up for success. The jewelry was all good quality, and the prices were quite reasonable. The septum piercing, jewelry and aftercare solution came in under $150.00. I was there once before with a friend who wanted to get his eyebrow pierced and they took really good care of him. I decided to get a couple of body piercings and it was pretty close to closing but they were nice enough to take me in. I got two piercings, since it was get one and get the second one half off. The guy did a great job making me feel relaxed and not scared about getting poked. He placed some markers and if I didn't like the position of where the piercing would go he remarked me. The whole process wasn't too long and while I was getting pocked he kept asking me if I was doing okay. He kept reassuring me I was going really well for never getting a part of my body pierced, except my ears. I felt super strong and brave! The guy was pretty nice and very friendly. That was the reason why I decided to go to The Eye of the Lotus in the first place. When my friend got his eyebrow done the guy who was doing his piercings was just so nice and funny; he totally took my friend's mind off of what was going on. They informed my friend and me (when I got my piercings done) how to clean our piercings. Like I said the joint was really clean and the staff was really nice and very professional. They made sure they did things the right way and they way you wanted.

I really loved getting pierced by him, I was a bit nervous about this one and he calmed my nerves and really made it an easy experience! He was also very quick with the piercing and me and my friend were both surprised when the jewelry was in my face so quickly. I will definitely come back to see Troy again if I get another piercing. These were my first, and I was not sure what my pain threshold would be, but I was determined to do it! Kate is friendly and SO efficient! I couldn't believe how fast she knocked these out! One on my inner arm, and the other on my calf (gotta admit, I twitched, because there was some serious shading happening). But I appreciated the sheet they sent me beforehand with everything I might need (snacks and a pillow, ftw!) I couldn't believe I was done in just over 2 hours, so my price was less than quoted. The shop is immaculate, and for someone like me who had always been intimidated by the thought of a "tattoo parlor," it put me completely at ease. The music was cool 80s/90s rock and grunge, and I was completely relaxed there and with Kate. I was given good after-instructions for care and cleaning, as well. Other artists came over to check to see what she was working on, and were friendly and chatty. If you want new ink, come here! You won't regret it! I now want to plan a few more!

Our piercings all healed okay, though I think it would have been better if we had been given options of non pronged noise piercings because they caught on masks, sheets, etc. my nose finally started healing once I purchased a flat style piece of jewelry elsewhere. Booking, waivers, and payments were all made electronically. Environment was spotless just as you'd hope for at a tattoo and piercing shop.

So I was very unhappy to show up early for my appointment and wait and an hour after my appointment time I was still waiting. I ended up having to leave. The reception girl was lovely and rebooked me for the next day. They booked me with the same artist and I got the rate I would have gotten the day before. Unfortunately the artist was awful. She was conceited and had no manners. She complained about not being able to use the computer and about the design. She complained about the "thin lines" despite there being no demand for thin lines. She ignored my requests. And she chose the font and then proceeded to complain the entire time about it. I got three small tattoos and each one has a problem. One on my wrist has two lines coming off of it instead of one where she had tried to go back over it and messed up. My forearm spacing is messed up (my fault for not bailing and getting it anyways) but she did messed up part of it so the lines aren't clean. When I suggested an edit she told me she didn't like it and wouldn't even humor it. I had to use the pen and draw what I meant. An "&" shouldn't be too complex of an idea. And the biggest problem I have is a colored one on my leg. I asked for it to be shaded and instead it is flat color. It was supposed to have a certain number of lines through it and she messed up and said "oh well". She was very heavy handed and did not hide that she was irritated with me. It is healing horribly. I'm not sure if I had a bad reaction to the colors or what. It bubbled up and when some of it finally flaked off what is left looks terrible. It will definitely need touching up. But there is no way I would consider letting the artist near me again. Can provide pictures of this horror show if needed. She also did not go through any care instructions with me. I had, luckily, been with friends the day before and heard theirs, as well as having had one before. But it seems like something the artist should go through every time. She was whiny and had a bad attitude. I suspect she was mad about having to give me the Wednesday rate (I was fine paying regular rate - I just wanted a quality artist) and her work certainly showed it. The studio itself was great. The other artists I talked to also were. The reception was great. Just the artist was awful. Absolutely awful.
