This place sucks if you are going in for a drink and snacks anytime before the late night bar scene. It's not properly staffed, they have a kitchen but it's never open, the bartender doesn't know what Tanqueray gin is nor can she mix a Bloody Mary. If you have an open tab but choose to sit at a table be warned they won't come to you - you have to go order at the bar. The entire 2 hours we were there the waitress was more focused on stocking the bar than helping customers. Lots of tv's but that's about it...so not worth it. It's too bad because there is so much potential. Advice to owners = if this is just a bar, don't open until bar hours and pretend you are also a restaurant. Great place to watch games. The staff is very friendly and they have TVs everywhere and quite a few pool tables as well. Glad we didn't pass this place up based on the negative reviews. Both my husband and I really enjoyed being here. I guess if you're friendly and choose to be friendly to those sitting around you you'll have a great time. If you like wings you will not be disappointed. Many flavors to choose from and they cook them just right. I would give this place no stars because the whole place is falling apart. The bathrooms are filthy (probably worse than a gas station) there's vandalism all over the walls. The sinks are rusted over, there was no soap or paper towel dispensers. The entertainment area with pool tables are horribly arranged. There's tables and walls surrounding the pool table so you can barely play. Not to mention, the pool tables were held up by bar coasters. I wouldn't be surprised if this place gets the boot. The name alone is misleading!! I was looking for a place to have a dinner, watch the Monday Night Game and have a beer. I walked in and it seemed to have a nice atmosphere. I walked to the bar and the tap jockey asked me "What you would like?" I replied, " How about a menu?"..... She gave me this look like I was a complete dumbass! The place is named "Champions GRILL & Bar" right? So I just ordered a beer. Hence..... The food here is terrible. Champions has really improved over the past year! Management was replaced, and the servers/bartenders are much more attentive and friendly. The negative reviews on here are out of date! Champs is a great place for wings, beer, and watching games. I love the atmosphere. It is a bit dark inside, so if that bothers you, I don't recommend it, but that is my only complaint. How much did it cost, you ask? $10.50 Now, granted the server had screwed up and brought a beer out that I didn't order in addition to the drink (her name was Erika) and originally charged me $15. We came in to watch the football game and have lunch. We ordered drinks and nachos as an appetizer. After 35 min, I ask a passing server (we never saw our original server) to check on our nachos. She said they just got put into the system because 'we are really busy.' She said it was going to be another 20 min. And this was just our appetizer. We never got refills on our drinks either. We told them to cancel our order and bring us our check. She just said 'ok.' We never saw the manager, no one apologized and it took another 15 min to get our check. This place has AWFUL service. There seems to be a total absence of floor managment. We sat for 15 mins at a table near the kitchen, consequently servers were passing us every 45 seconds or so and not a single person made eye contact with us as they passed, much less offering to start us out with drinks. This was not the first time their service has been sub-par, but it was the worst, we left and went to Johns Alley. Another note, on nights with big sporting events on two occasions they have run out of most of their draft beer! Poor form. This place gets away with awful service because its a small college town with a captive audience, in any larger market they would be run out of town. Just the worst. It's comically bad. I'm wondering if Champions is really some hidden camera show or a social science experiment to see how much crap people will take. I've been here three times, each one worse than the one prior. I've learned my lesson and I won't go back. Visit #1: More of a beer drinking fantasy, less of an actual experience. Not terrible compared to the later visits, but very bad/very slow service at the bar. I'd say my avg. wait time at the bar was 10 minutes and there wasn't a line. Also the big nachos seem cool in theory - Giant mound of nachos served on a trash can lid, but in reality they are a big lump of cold stale chips, a little cheese and not much else....served on a trash can lid. Visit #2: Argumentative Bar Tenders. some friends and I come in for happy hour and saddle up to the bar. I ask about the beers on tap. The bar tendress says "we have a lot". I say, "I don't have my glasses with me and can't make out the taps, could you tell me what they are." She reads through them. When I ask about one she says, "I don't know anything about the beers." I order an IPA. She brings an amber. Friends assure me I said IPA. I tell the bartender I think I got someone else's beer because I ordered an IPA. She says, "No, you orded an Amber." I stare in bewilderment. She doesn't flinch. Bartender 1, me 0 (and an unwanted Amber). Another friend comes in and sits down. He says to the bartender, "What beers do you have". "We have a lot of beers." Visit #3: It's midday. Four of us begrudgingly go to Champions b/c it is the only one with the game on. We sit at a table in the bar and wait. And wait. And Wait. And wait. And Wait. And wait. And Wait. And wait. And Wait. And wait. And Wait. And wait. And Wait. And wait. And Wait. And wait. And Wait. And wait. And Wait for 30 minutes. It's not busy. The bartenders and waitresses are hanging out talking 10 feet from us. Another table next to us get's served. We wait. Finally we go to the bar to ask if we can get some beer for the table. The bar tendress says, "It'll be a few minutes." She then pours two beers saying, "That's all I can do right now, but if a waitress doesn't come by in ten minutes, come back." Twenty minutes go by, the four of us have shared the two beers. We waive down a waitress who seems to ignore us. We leave. read more

Bartended here for quite a while. Place is absolutely infested with cockroaches. Found several every day, both dead and alive. Regularly found their excrement as well. They very often would crawl over the glasses and straws, neither of which would be washed or throw away afterward. The owner was informed of the problem and refused to hire an exterminator due to the cost. This has been going on for several several months and absolutely nothing has been done. Did not care for this place at all. Service was incredibly slow and the two ladies behind the bar seemed incredibly distracted by things other than the customers. Champions has a ton of potential...entirely unfulfilled potential. When I moved here, three years ago, I went there my first day, to watch a Red Sox-Yankees game, as they are the only place in town with the MLB package, and our TV wasn't hooked up yet. At that point, they told me "we just opened and our kitchen isn't ready yet, but it will be any day now." Two years later, they finally opened their kitchen. By itself, this would be ridiculous, but because of how they operate, it's actually instructive. They seem to hire bartenders based solely on their physical attributes, which would be fine if they then pushed them to become good, or at least competent, employees (I've seen this at other bars, and it works, as long as there is an expectation that the newbies learn to put up or shut up). The problem is that there isn't a single decent bartender on staff, and therefore there isn't a standard for these hires to aspire to. Everytime I go there (infrequent, but there's only a small handful of bars in town), I remain baffled at how slow the service is. I don't mean to imply that they're unfriendly or uncaring, because they're not, they're actually very friendly and always apologetic; just incredibly slow. I don't mean normal, it's-busy-and-this-may-take-a-minute slow, either....I was there tonight, as an example, and there were no more than 20 people in the whole place, total. Still, I had a frenzied looking bartender rush past me, telling me over his shoulder (again, very friendly) "it'll be a few minutes" before mixing two drinks and pouring three beers, one-by-one. She was trying, for sure, just unskilled. Another night, several months ago, I waited a full half-hour to close my tab; again, there were no more than 20 people in the whole place. It got to the point where I told my friends to leave and I walked home alone. Another problem is the food. The menu looks great, and it could be. Unfortunately, everything is done as though it were fast food, even though the prices are roughly in line with better pub grub. Every burger is cooked to mid-well, so what you get is a hockey puck, not a burger. They do have a great TV setup, and it is a good place to watch a game, though I preferred Wingers (and eventually started buying the NFL package). Anyway, I wish this place would pull their shit together and become the bar they could be, but that doesn't seem imminent. For now, at least, avoid Champions. read more

Worst service and food in Moscow. The bar tender apparently hadn't had someone ask for a menu in quite a while, acted like we had just spoken to him in a foreign language. Had to request silver ware, water, etc. Ordered nachos, they forgot the picante, re-fried bean and have no salsa or jalepenos, put mushrooms on instead. Food is not very good. All around, not a great experience. I go to Champions because they are the only place around that shows the UFC fights. Typically it provided a passable sports bar experience. I awaited the opening of the food service as that should add nicely to the experience. I was wrong. The wings were sub par but edible. Pretty much what you'd expect from a diner or some other place where the wings are a throwaway item, not from a place that features "championship wings" as the flagship staple of the menu. Next up was the Bracket Burger. Basically a western bacon cheeseburger (bacon, onion ring, cheese, bbq sauce) but with the addition of guacamole. Seems like an odd combination, but it's their featured burger so we tried it. Big mistake. Burger was burned to a crisp and not fit for eating. Upon sending it back we got a flavorless but no longer burned patty that featured no sauces! I didn't have the heart to send it back a 2nd time and it wasn't good enough to be worth the trouble but a dry burger with no flavor and no sauces means bad times. Well at least we're in idaho so the fries must be good. Wrong! It looks like they tried to feature a natural cut premium fry, but they were limp and lacking flavor. Clearly fried in batches and left to sit. Unacceptable and not worth my money or stomach space. Basically, i walked into this place looking for some good food and the fights. I hadn't eaten all day so anything would have tasted great, or so I thought. I should have stopped at McDonalds on the way, it would have been much tastier and cheaper to boot.
