The menu which is pretty extensive for the area contrary to other peoples opinions.

I have no idea how I've been in Port Sulphur since June and never been here! The food was delicious! Service was top notch! It was clean and inviting! The beer was ice cold! I ate everything before I could get a picture!! Definitely recommend!!! We will be back for sure!!

Eat here. Spectacular mom & pop restaurant at the edge of Louisiana coast. Roast Beef Poboy - excellent Seafood platter - very good - a tad over-cooked but the seasoning was perfect. Seafood stuffed potato - Shrimp were perfect. Staff was amazing

I can't say enough good things about this place. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out we were treated with such compassion! Food was great (roast beef & Cajun eggrolls) the owner was so nice and friendly. We got the small town ambiance, amazing feel! She even held our baby for us to eat. The server was great! The sign in front the door says it all! If you're in town this place is a must!

Change is an apt name for a restaurant in an area that is evolving quickly due to the rising waters of climate change and disappearing marshland. It's not hard to believe that Louisiana is losing, according to the well-known maxim, an average of a football field of land every hour. Nearby, a facility's large parking area was washed out as were two roads. In some areas here, water is menacingly close on the sides of roads. It's alarming but locals seem to adapt as best they can. Importing canal boats from the original Venice, Italy, doesn't seem like a far-fetched future consideration. There's not much going on in this Louisiana Venice, except oil and maritime, and fishing with a rod and reel because there's nothing else happening. It some ways it seem idyllic but that's naive. So, what about Change's Restaurant? Well, be glad it's here and manage your expectations because on a Sunday morning, there isn't another real choice that I could find. The menu is short and the food is dependable and filling.

Stopped in this rural Changes restaurant Off of Highway 23 in Venice Louisiana which is surrounded by swamp and marshland somewhat remote from the amenities facilities developments of the suburban neighborhood so cellular service isn't very good and when I was inside the restaurant I couldn't get a solid phone connection The Restaurant a South doesnt have a town restaurant net work to connect to which was a big downer The pizza was delightful Quality ingredients are used here It's a humble establishment with humble selections it doesn't have all of the local hype and excitement smorgasbord of Seafood That Louisiana is famous for

Fabulous folks! Family business we loved this place! We had no idea how right we were. The island was almost empty and the only people we encountered were state troopers sitting on the side waiting for some speeders. Further down into the island we had almost given up on the idea to have a "real" shrimp meal and turned around. Since it was time for a "natural" break we stopped at several places but they were all closed - except for one. When we drove on the parking lot a lady came out waving at us and asking us to come in. It was in fact the ONLY place that was opened selling beverages on Christmas Day. However, food was provided for free by the residents that came together to celebrate Christmas and they invited us to join them for their Christmas meal. We had ham and turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing among many other things. What a great experience. Everyone was so friendly and kind that even the 90 minute trip to and from N'awlins was worth every minute. Thank you!

We stopped in here for lunch and ended up with a sampling of what in my opinion is probably the best example of cajun food done right in Houma and for miles around - everything was delicious and the service from Sarah L was outstanding. We started with the Charbroiled Oysters served with toasted french bread, the plump Louisiana oysters were succulent and dipping the french bread in the cajun butter became an obsession, definitely a must do starter - I wasn't leaving here without trying their chicken and sausage gumbo, perfect texture and complex flavors it will make you a believer, my hats off to the chef, definitely authentic - the fried catfish filets and jumbo fried shrimp platters were outstanding although we didn't do it these are the foundation of an amazing po-boy (maybe next time) - all the sides were exceptional from the fried okra and onion rings to my personal favorite the skillet fried potatoes and who could leave without a few beignets served hot covered in powdered sugar - what a meal they should have a place to lay down in the back for a "cajun nap". In my opinion if you craving some authentic cajun dishes you can't go wrong here, the portions are nice and the prices are very reasonable. Our schedule didn't allow us to return as we had planned but will definitely return when we are back in the area...

Key deserves a huge shout out for being such a sweet and attentive server. I liked her tremendously. We had the boudin egg rolls and the Swamp Tour Sampler: jambalaya, crawfish étouffée, gumbo, and red beans and rice. For dessert, we had bread pudding with beignets. The Boudin egg rolls were the best thing I ate on my entire trip. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly crispy, every bite was heaven. The jambalaya was the best jambalaya I had on my trip as well. It had a fantastic smokiness and was not wet at all. I also loved the crawfish étouffée. It was creamy and loaded. The red beans and rice had a bit of a sweet edge that was not quite my taste. Try for yourself. The bread pudding was the perfect sendoff. Bite-size beignets were nestled in the bread pudding. It was a sweet, creamy, perfectly Mississippi dessert. We split a few things between the two of us. We had the tour of the swamp. The red beans and rice was really great. Not always my favorite when we go out but it really stood out. Very flavorful. The etouffee was great. Wish there was more crawfish but I always wish there was more. We all probably do with most dishes. lol. The jambalaya was really good. Well seasoned. Now my wife is picky about gumbo and is a hard judge to please. I am a little more on the giving side and look at it from the perspective of "even a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work" point of view. A day with gumbo is generally a better day most days. The gumbo this day was not great. I have heard amazing things and I was not impressed. I will only mark off a star because everything else was so great. I hope it was just a bad day and we will hope for a better next time. And there will be a next time for sure. The shrimp po boy was slam packed with shrimp. Great bread and dressed well. The boudin eggrolls were fantastic. Sift and tender on the inside and crispy crunchy on the outside. Loved them.

Once we pulled up to an empty parking lot during lunchtime, we questioned how it had 4 stars. Boutte's Bayou is located towards the back of a river barge. It has a riverish diner feel inside, with maximum river bayou decor. The kitchen is hidden away in the middle by a curtain or sheet; we couldn't tell. There was only one person working, taking orders, and cooking food. The menus are handwritten; each is a little different, but as of the date, the same menu as the Yelp photos. None of the food was fresh, all fried on site behind the curtained kitchen. It also all tasted like something we could buy from Costco or Sam's Club and fry ourselves. Drinks were provided via pop/soda cans. Plastic wear is provided for eating via a large bin on the table. The Cook/Server/checkout person running our credit card for payment had an issue; there was no wifi, then Wi-Fi, some system error, some square event, then some Venmo issue... this felt very sketchy, with the number of times the cards were scanned, and then the owner was called, who asked for the card over the phone. It was a very weird experience. We ended up paying in what little cash we did have.

The current location is operating out of a "floating structure" with the restaurant downstairs while the upstairs has hotel rooms for rent along with a bar area with a pool table.
