We met a fisheries guy who suggested we go the end of the road where there's a sign marking it as the furthest south you can go in Louisiana by road. He then suggested we go to Crawgators and get the 'snapper throat.' We got to the sign just in time to see a guy named Grant Bell finish a run that followed the entire length of the Mississippi River. He said he only had to run 27 miles today to finish. No biggie. It's 95 degrees. Congrats Grant. Then we came to Crawgators. I had the fried shrimp basket, my son got the shrimp queso and we split the snapper throat. We both got sweet tea. The location is great. Trophy fishing and charters are the business here and the restaurant is open and looks directly down on the docks. Cool to watch the boats come in. The snapper was fried...very meaty, and very fishy. Delicious. Fried shrimp was also very good. Shrimp pasta- the kid ate most of it. I tried it. Canned pasta sauce and the shrimp were breaded and fried before going in the sauce, which I thought was odd. It didn't taste great and the kid feels sick to his stomach now. Maybe not the best choice on a hot day? Sweet tea is very sweet but it hits right, in this heat. Wait staff is super cute and very flirty.

I ordered the grilled shrimp platter, and it says something when the bagged salad was the best thing I ate. The shrimp were cold and way too overseasoned/salty and the fries were cold and bland. Couldn't finish my food. Maybe it was because we were a party of 20 people or it could have been an off day.... But I would not come here again.

We were heading to the Southern most point on the Gulf and stopped herefor lunch. It's a small space but what it lacks in space it makes up for in personality. I could tell that this was a well loved spot as we got some tourist "looks' when we entered (I guess they could tell we were not regulars :)). That was even before our "east coast accents" gave us away. The menu is not vast but if you are coming here - the thing to order is seafood. I mean it's a no brainer! The food is not fancy but good and exactly what I needed. As you can tell the shrimp were HUGE and the onion ring were homemade - what more can a girl ask for! They do have specials but I only had eyes for the shrimp patter. There not many restaurants in the area so if you are hungry and have a hankering for seafood - check this place out.
