I wish there was a notation for zero stars. I was fitted with the WRONG arm brace. It was too small and failed to protect my fractured humerus. This caused 2 visits to the ER and several days in a pain management hospital bed. Pain that didn't even know was possible. I was fitted by a tech that seemed to have no idea what he was doing. He asked me, "where exactly is the bone break?" Umm.... really? He ignored a script that stated I had "a distal humeral break". The owner there Logan Newton admitted that the brace was too small. He is also a big Bully. He told me that if I spoke to my surgeon about his brace and his company, he had talked to his attorneys, and he would sue me. He would sue me? My wish for you Mr. Newton is that you learn professional manners and figure out how to train your staff. I'm in the medical field myself and your "one size circumference" brace is a failure. A small size, with a thin female arm, and a short man, weightlifter will need 2 different braces. Who engineered this? Like a shoe comes in narrow, medium and wide. I just hope I can work again, or ride my road-bike again. What started as nerve bruising turned into major radial nerve palsy. Steer clear of this guy people. read more

We went here for a consultation for a cranial helmet. Our pediatrician gave us a prescription because our physical therapist said we should go check it out just in case. Neither of them seemed super concerned about it. We went in and she was measured and said we needed to get it. She has a moderate level of plagiocephaly. We asked a good amount of questions but when we asked do we need this? And what would happen if we didn't get it. I felt like we were judged for leaning towards no. At this time we're looking into another clinic. I really wasn't impressed with this place and nothing stood out to me. The front desk was nice but misspelled my daughter's name even after we had spelled it out to them and given the spelling on her paperwork. read more

I was fitted for a boot to wear after surgery. He was very nice and explained everything to me.

I went into this establishment to get a boot for my mom's broken ankle and they ran out to tell my mom and I that we have to wear a mask.I told them that I can't wear a mask for health reasons. They told me I had to wait outside. Three different woman who worked there approached me and told me I had to leave. I am being discriminated against when there is a 99.7% survival rate for Covid19 and I have tested negative. On top of this, my mom texted me as we waited outside and told me she had never encountered ruder customer service in her life than the person at the front desk. She also told me that the woman at the front desk acted like she was brand new and did not appear to know what she was doing. My mom said if she had a choice she would go to an office where they treated their patients with more respect and decency. read more

I've been to another Prosthetic provider and after three prosthetic legs made for me in a year they failed to get me into a proper fitting and good working prosthetic I could use comfortably, after three try's still no fit. We'd tried another place in Ventura that was just awful so we got this referral from Kaiser. What a great place. Ted has helped my Mom with several pairs of shoes and built them very well. The time it takes from the exam to picking up the shoes is much better than the other business we'd gone to. I also had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, just didn't get his name, and you can tell he's on his game with his business. He was fun to talk with and took an interest in my Mom's situation. Bad customer sevice & Disorganized front office that treated us like we should be grateful they would see us! I had a foot surgery 2 weeks ago and had been fitted for a walking boot prior to surgery. The one I received was not the right height. When we returned and gave it back, my husband was told to wait for the correct one. (We called & let them know beforehand) Ultimately after waiting 15+ minutes, he told him he had to leave for an appointment & would be back in an hour or so. When he returned he was made to wait again. After about 10 minutes, in frustration he asked for our original boot back- they couldn't find it at first then found it in the SAME spot he saw them place it when he handed it to them earlier. THEY NEVER EVEN TRIED TO GET THE RIGHT BOOT FOR HIM IN ALMOST 2 HOURS! We won't Ever give them our business again! read more

September 25, 2023 I went in for a back brace . After having my appointment rescheduled by them due to their error I now had to go in the day prior to my lumber fusion surgery on the 26th. After sitting there in pain for 45 minutes I was finally tended to by Ted who asked "what type of brace would I like, laces or twist tie". I have no idea --- when my appointment was scheduled they had already given me a quote and asked that I come pick it up, also - I would hope they are delivering what my Neurosurgeon prescribed. This brings up the cost...during the initial call they quoted me a 20% copay which would be 270.00. I then questioned if said brace was made of gold, to which I was told the value/cost is $1,300.00. I went in, paid my copay after waiting 45 minutes and left with the "golden " brace". I find myself now recovering from an extensive surgery- I needed to google the brace instructions to assure I was using it properly. To my dismay I found that my EXACT brace has a value/cost of only $244.00 online.!! In summary I paid Channel Island Prosthetics on Market St in Ventura $277.00 for the brace and my insurance company paid them $1,080.00 to have me sit there in pain for 45 minutes, then tend to me for 5 minutes and hand me the brace. I do not understand how taking the cost of a product and raising over 500.5%, collect from myself a disabled senior on a fixed income- then going on and overcharging the insurance company. A payout of $1,350.00 By the way, today I confirmed all payments made by my insurance in a three way call with them and Channel Island. During that same conversation when questioned about the cost of said item I purchased from them she confirmed "yes". That left me speechless. I don't mind paying my 20%, but I paid for the full brace. The remaining was just CHA-CHING!!! Does not deserve one star however mandatory to process review. read more

Review is for orthotics only. This place is quack central. The "orthotist" had never heard of my condition, for which I was prescribed orthotics by my podiatrist. He had also never heard of the extremely common condition known as "pump bump," i.e., Haglund's deformity. When he noticed mine (which I've had for decades without problems), he asked, "What's that on the back of your heel?" I told him and he seemed mystified. His "examination" of me took maybe 70 seconds, then he smooshed my feet into some foam, to get a mold of my feet, and told me I was done. Sooo... what corrective function were the resulting orthotics supposedly going to be providing? Who knows! Here's what a writer I trust has to say about foam box orthotics: "Most physical therapists or chiropractors selling orthotics usually ask a client to make footprints in foam in a box, fill out a form specifying features of the insert, and then ship the foam off to a manufacturer who sends back some shoe inserts. Like lasers at the mall, these procedures may create the illusion of a "customized" product, but it's mostly just a piece of plastic that fits your foot. Maybe. None of the common methods can even create an accurate fit reliably! Let alone one that is corrective or therapeutic in any way. Back in September 2016, I had a fifth metatarsal fracture in my left foot and my podiatrist referred me to Channel Islands Prosthetics-Orthotics (CIPO) for a walking boot. The lobby was clean and their literature was organized neatly. The staff was friendly and helpful when I was a bit unsure on how to fill out the paperwork. The orthopedic technician that sized me for a walking boot was patient and practiced with me a few times until I was comfortable strapping on/off the boot on my own. We went to Channel Islands P&O after our daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis last year. Chris was fantastic to work with, especially since this was a condition that we didn't know much about and it was easy for our brains to go straight to the worst-cased scenario. He was very reassuring and helpful during the education process. He also spent many hours fitting her brace and then readjusting it several times to make sure it fit properly. His expertise was validated after we visited specialists at UCLA who told us the brace was molded perfectly. My first appointment was in the Oxnard office, which appeared really outdated. While I was there I heard another woman being fitted and told that her size 7 shoe was equivalent to a men's size 8. I thought maybe the world of orthotics had their own size charts so I kept my mouth shut (plus I was eavesdropping so...) Luckily before the woman left the guy caught her and corrected his error but it seemed like one of those telling mistakes. The fitting process itself was simple, a foam-like box was used versus the play-doh-like molding process I had for my first pair of orthotics. When I left, the front desk told me it would be about a week but it took over a month. Also, it turns out the molding process is the way to go. The process is done by a doctor who understands your issues and can hold your foot in the mold the way he wants the orthotic to form to your foot. When I finally picked up my orthotic it was in the Ventura office, which was much nicer inside; however, the staff was still blah. In the end I had them recover my old insoles and to be honest I have no idea where the ones they made me even are since I NEVER wear them. I suppose I should mention I originally had a PPO and this was my HMO insurance experience. If you can, I'd go somewhere else or just pay your doctor cash and get the molded orthotic, trust me you'll thank me later. read more

The ventura office is so rude. I scheduled the appt a month ago and called today both oxnard and ventura office. The girl in the ventura office was so rude, she even hung up on me as i was saying thank you. So i called back and spoke to her and asked for a office manager. To my NON surprise there was none. So i asked for the person she reports to and she said it was her boss Mark Warmust. I spoke to mark and he was just like his receptionist. Rude and condescending!! When i said his receptionist had no customer service skills he laughed over the phone at me and said they do have customer service skills. I really beg to differ. They have none. Now i know why she acts like that. Its because her boss acts like that and leads by very poor example. Also just because they get a contract with the drs office to get their clients doesnt mean that they have good customer service skills. I bet the reason they act like that is cuz they have guaranteed customers. I will not recommend any one there, & i will tell everyone i know that, how horrible they are and not to go to them. II was sent to this business by my orthopedic surgeon because of my torn Achilles' Tendon of my right foot. I have my first appointment so that the mold of my foot could be made and walked in and was greeted by a stone-faced woman at the front desk. She acted as though it was more of an imposition to her that I was there rather than as a patient in pain who was there with an appointment. I was taken back and had the form for my orthotic made. The man who did it told me that it would take approximately 10 days for it to be completed. I was told that there wereTHREE very competent people in the back room who were making all of these devices for people. TWO WEEKS LATER I STILL HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM ANYONE THERE. I have been in a lot of pain from this torn ligament and decided to call and ask what was going on. I called on a Wednesday and the lady at the desk told me that the orthotic would be ready on Friday. I asked if someone would call me and let me know and she said yes, they'd call and tell me when to come down and be fitted. Friday came and went with no call and no device to help start healing my foot. On the following Monday morning I called the office and told her that I had not heard from anyone last Friday, the day I was told it would be ready. She put me on hold for a few minutes then came back and said, "It's ready." I wanted to yelll, 'WHY HASN'T ANYONE CALLED ME???" It's 10:30 on Monday morning, the orthotic is sitting there, ready, and nobody has called me?! She kind of laughed and said, "Well, they just finished it this morning." Then she asked me if I could come in the following FRIDAY to have it fitted. That's when I lost it....I said I have waited for 2 l/12 weeks (while in great pain) and now you want me to wait for another week? She put me on hold again and then came back and said, "You can come in today at any time." ???????? I'll never go back there again. ' read more

I was referred to this business my my dr. I called for an appointment and was promptly treated like and idiot on the phone by a very rude and condescending "Natalie". Later I went to the Ventura location for a brace fitting. The receptionist there was the same way! Saying I didn't have an appointment until 9:15 and that I was "Lucky" someone cancelled. Natalie had made the appointment herself for 9:00!! - fast forward to 12/30/13 I get a voicemail simply to "call them". I did and got a fax machine. So I called the ventura office and they informed me the call was about my payment??? I was never asked for a payment and would have gladly paid it. The clerk from ventura said, "Go ahead and yell at me cause this happens all the time with Natalie." I asked since you are calling me now does that mean the brace isn't ordered yet? "Yes, it hasn't been ordered." I was furious and she said she would call Natalie and see and would it be okay if she called back in 30 minutes-I said certainly.- 2 hours later Natalie leaves a message saying the price my two braces (I was only fitted for 1) and that they couldn't change the cost. I NEVER ASKED FOR A DISCOUNT!!! THE COMMUNICATION THERE IS PREPOSTEROUS AND IT SEEMS THE STAFF KNOW THIS PROBLEM EXISTS. There are many other places. read more
