This group is unfamiliar with Medicare Supplemental G guidelines. On Nov. 2nd I called them requesting an appointment with a certain Urologist. I explained my insurance and urology issues. It was related that office policy requires all records from your prior urology physician for review by the doctor before an appt. can be given. I complied by having Cedars Sinai records forwarded. This took weeks. Next, I waited over a week for word, regarding the requested physician's evaluation. None came. Losing patience, I asked my wife to inquire. Yesterday she was informed that the doctor is rarely in the office, due to a pressing surgery schedule; therefore the soonest available appointment would be January/February next year. Forget it!!!!!!!!!!!! Anacapa reservation and appointment personnel need to update their Medicare compliance knowledge and how to address hopeful patients truthfully. From the beginning, the office representative knew of the doctor's extensive schedule, yet I was directed to waste time obtaining prior records and their review process. WATCH OUT WITH THIS GROUP. The address listed on card and on website is 300 Hillmont. That is the same address as the hospital. Tried calling three times to see where they were actually located. No one answers. After finally getting the correct location.... The Brown Building!!! Which is marked 340. I called the office and finally got through and explained what happened. Asked if they would still see my father. They put me on hold. Came back and said to come on up and when the doctor was free they would ask him if he could be seen. I explained my father was not in good condition and it would be a lot on him to go up and not be seen. He was already wanting to go home. They put me on hold again, I waited and finally gave up. The doctors heres were not good . I had a fractured spine a few years ago and died they had a lady doctor who just left one day . Then I became Dr Oh's patient and he heard me out the first time . All other appointments he seem to forget my story , how I fractured my back and even forgot he saw me at vcmc when I came In with the fracture spine . I don't want anything to do with anyone associated with vcmc . I have now found a spine doctor who cares and it was then when I realized how bad this place is . They even had me wearing a wrong size brace and doing things I wasn't supposed to . I would never return here or recommended to anyone I cared about . read more

Don't walk run!! Dr Steen is terrible surgeon!! He doesn't do what is at the best interest of the patient. His surgery is outdated and sloppy. He also does not follow up with his patients nor takes responsibility when he misdiagnoses someone with cancer. He told me my best option to live was to have surgery because my cancer was progressing and could not remove the tumor because he said it was to deep and it metastasized. My daughter's surgery is now completed and I am sharing this review because I hope that no one else has to encounter the same problems that I have. A cancelled surgery due to weather is understandable, but there were multiple items that make me hope I never have to work with this agency again. The things that left me feeling unsure: The physician's assistant who did the pre-op appointment and scared my 6 year old when explaining the surgery as you should with a teen or adult. When I kindly asked her to break it down for my daughters age she just continued on as my daughters eyes got larger and larger and she became fearful. The office staff asking me for legal documents, which I first provided at initial consult 5/2019, emailed 7/2019 and then sent again in 10/2019. The day before the surgery I was told that surgery would need to be cancelled if I didn't send the same documents which had been presented but the girl who called in July failed to follow up on. I have email proof and forwarded this to her and her supervisor. The anesthesiologist who walked into my 6 year old daughters pre-op cubicle, picked up my daughters chart and began asking her personal questions. The woman had no identification, a jacket on, a purse on her arm and did not introduce herself. I stopped her and asked her who she was and she said she was the anesthesiologist. I then asked what her name was. Discharging my child when she is barely able to walk on her own to the car. The office staff being asked for proof of surgery restrictions for my child's school and providing documentation with inaccurate surgery dates, more than 1 time causing for extra trips to pick up documentation. The fact that the day of her rescheduled surgery, I provided 4 people (the pre-op tech, the RN, the anesthesiologist and the surgeon) the same meds that are being given and in the discharge summary, they are still wrong. There are medications listed that her PCP had her stop using over a year ago and we followed the instructions. I told each of them that only two meds were currently being given and they still have four listed. Why ask all the questions over and over again if you are not going to accurately record them. I am concerned that this also portrays a parent who is not following instructions. And why should my daughters surgery be cancelled only to be rescheduled for 3 months later or I could see another associate doctor? read more

The Anacapa Surgical Associates team @VCMC is absolutely wonderful. From front counter to complete care process - I was treated with kindness and respect. Dr. Wan is a wonder woman. She is so compassionate and the follow through was very impressive. My partner also had ASA care @VCMC and the experience was equal to mine. World class doctors and surgeons. My partner had a trauma related occurrence, and the swift and complete attention really impressed us. We really felt like they ALL truly cared for and about us. The inclusivity to details and solutions made me feel so comforted. Follow through etiquette is equally as important as initial interaction, and in our case(s) I coould not have asked for more! Absolute nightmare clinic! Do yourself a favor and pick someone else. I saw the first doctor after a spinal cord injury. She was very friendly and ordered a bunch of tests. Weeks turned into months and I received no test results from her. When I called to check they told me she had left and they required I see her replacement before I could get the results of my test. I saw her and she requested more tests (probably test that should have been performed the first time). Then weeks went by with no update from her. When I called to check what's going on they advised the second doctor had left. Again I was forced to schedule a third appointment just to get the results from test they ordered. This time the only doctors they had were intern. Pretty disappointing when you have a complicated spinal cord injury. When I went to that third appointment they had misscheduled me and the doctor was not available. At this point I'm completely fed up and starting all over at a different clinic. This place is a sick joke! I mean this is People's health and lives you're dealing with. I am months and months down my recovery and have received no help from anacapa surgical associates. you are seriously making a huge mistake letting any of these doctors get near you for any procedure that you may need to have done. the doctors, physicians assistants, even their nurses do not give a damn if you have any complications after a procedure and you will be left out of luck to figure out how to get help on your own. my advice is if you do have surgery with this group is to have a medical malpractice attorney ready to call when they have left you in pain, and your surgical sites opening up and get your recourse by reporting them for the uncaring, unprofessional supposed doctors that they protend to be. read more

I've been to different types of medical professionals before. Doctors and nurses but I have never met a nurse practitioner like Lindsey Loft who seemed to have completed a full assessment and diagnosis before even asking me questions. I don't know if this clinic goes by the same pain assessment. I was told if my pain doesn't wake me up at night screaming then the symptoms are mild. Not only did she assess my pain but on the very first meeting had already given me a max weight I could carry without checking prior records or asking me or waiting for a proper nerve study. I certainly feel this clinic and nurse practitioner were not looking out for me as the patient. read more

Dr. Jeremy Schweitzer is my surgeon at Anacapa Surgical. He's a top A+ surgeon and a wonderful man. I trust him fully and without reservation. He helped save my life performing a cancer surgery one me along with my wonderful team of doctors. Unfortunately, on Jan 26th of this new year he will again perform another major surgery on me related to the first cancer surgery. I am scared, actually terrified, because I know it's going to hurt and be another long hurdle to get over and through, as well as another long recovery ahead of me, but, I know I am in good hands with Dr. Schweitzer. Dr. Lynn Kong is my oncologist here in town and recently she told me that I had stage 2-3, T4 cancer. It was T3 until she looked over the photos carefully and changed the staging. I have reviewed her, too on Yelp. Cancer is just horrible, and sadly, after being a vegetarian for over forty years, never drinking, never smoking and being super holistic, I still got cancer. And cancer sucks! If you are referred to Dr. Jeremy Schweitzer or Anacapa Surgical know you are in great hands, literally! They are awesome and care so much about their patients! The staff is very loving and caring and just awesome, too! Lupe, Dr. Schweitzer's nurse is wonderful and such a lovely person, too. Life and breath is a precious gift. My urologist in on the same floor, Dr. Scott Luttge, MD. He is a wonderful and gentle kind man, with an impressive education and a great deal of experience in his field. He will be part the team on Jan. 26th to make sure I am safe. If you are referred to Anacapa Urology, you may get the pleasure of seeing Dr. Luttge, he is one of the three good urologists there. I had A wonderful experience with my daughters surgeon Dr. Keshan. My daughter is not even 2 so you can imagine i was so nervous and scared as she had to be put under for her hernia repair from our first appointment to the day of the surgery he always gave me and my husband a sense of relief. Worst front office staff here EVER!!! if it wasn't for the amazing Doctor my daughter has to go to I would have left the first day I had to deal with them! There's so many people working here that no one knows what's going on! My daughter had a consult for a surgery she needs on November 3rd, they were suppose to put in an authorization into my insurance for the surgery, two weeks later I call my insurance and they said the office never put in the request! I call the doctors office and yup the nurse for the doctor my daughter has to see never put in the request, and of course she's not there so a message was left for her to call me....fast forward two More weeks and no phone call!! Call them back and they finally put in the request on November 30th.....almost a WHOLE month after my daughter first saw the doctor. Sorry the front office staff is horrible. I think they hire anyone to work in the front! Not to mention before my daughter even got an appointment with the doctor I was going back and forth with them the whole month of October trying to even get her an appointment, apparently no one had my authorization when it was approved weeks prior!!! Dr. Williams was wonderful he made me feel comfortable and he was friendly and upbeat! Not a long waiting time which is very nice. Parking was hard to find very crowded. I came here twice and both times the front office staff were organized and friendly as well as on the phone. When your going in a place to get surgery it can be scary and I felt distracted by the friendly nurse telling me and the Dr. a funny story while they were working on me. Dr. James Herman recently performed a very much needed cervical discectomy and spinal fusion that made such a difference in my life. I have been to Neurosurgeons before through Medí-Cal and the Veteran's Administration and was scared to death of the surgery. I had been searching for a Dr. like him for the past 10 years. This kind, compassionate man took plenty of time with me, answered any and all questions, went over MRI's and is extremely revered in his profession. Their billing department is incompetent. My insurance covered everything, but I just found out they sent a $35.00 charge to collections for non-payment. The collection agency now wants $90.00 to close it. After surgery I did receive bills, but I called on every one of them and gave them my insurance information.
