I was visiting New Orleans and needed a hat to go with my outfit for a nice dinner. I knew I could find one somewhere but this place stood out in my searching. Located in the French quarter, so parking can be challenging but relatively likely to find somewhere decent. There's tons of interesting stores, street entertainment and just beauty in the buildings all around. Now for the store.. it was moderately busy but the crew were well up with the pace to answer any and all questions along with keeping premium customer service. There wasn't a patron that walked in that wasn't greeted, even when I was being rung up for my 2 hats. Speaking of hats, there is plenty of variety. Not only in style but in price points, there's something for everyone's budget. They have a good amount of mirrors in the store to prevent you from running around to see your reflection and if the hat is a keeper. I found my 2 hats quick and didnt need to convince myself it was money well spent. I knew off the bat, these hats were exactly what I was looking for. Another shop located in one of the more touristy sections of the French Quarter in the small retails shops overlooking the Jackson Square Pedestrian Mall... But this is a legit store that has some great product And yes, the store is all hats but not like the baseball caps and beanies you'd find at your typical mall hat store... no, these are beyond those hats. They have novelty hats like Steampunk and themes like high hats and hats that are great for unique events (that only NOLA can host). Stylish fedoras, newspaper hats, large brim hats... and they are name brands too. I ended up being impressed by a particular flat hat from Brixton Hats; prices are up there but nothing too excessive from what we could find from visiting some online stores. All in all, it's a cool shop that the staff will encourage you to try hats on and there is no pressure to buy anything... they'll help you get the correct size without that extra push to buy something that can't be sized properly or doesn't make you look good. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here during our recent trip to NOLA. We were enjoying a nice afternoon near Jackson square and stumbled across this store. I'm extremely sensitive to the sun so he suggested we go in and see what types of hats they have. For the record, I wasn't hopeful that I would find anything simply bc I have a big head lol and I have lots of hair (locs) so it's always hard to find good looking hats that fit. Boy was I wrong! Ms. Barbara and Ms. Tracy were soooooo helpful, welcoming, and just such a joy that we left there with 3 hats for myself and one for my boyfriend (and he's not a hat wearer). We even went back the next day and purchased 3 more for his mom. I'm absolutely in love with my hats and the customer service, I had to make it my business to leave such a great review and post these pics. I was in New Orleans this past summer and saw a hat that I liked, but didn't want to travel with it. I took a business card to place an order later. Six months later I visited the website, but the hat I had seen wasn't online. I called and was greeted by the most pleasant salesperson, I later learned her name was Michelle, I had ever dealt with on the phone. I explained to her what I had seen and she told me that everything in the store wasn't online. She said she would look and send me some pictures. She sent three pictures and it was the hat I had seen earlier. I placed the order and because my experience was so pleasant I added a second hat to the order. About 10 days later I called to check on the order and another amazing salesperson answered my call and after a couple minutes she found my order and told me it had been shipped and should be here in a day or two. Staff was helpful and kind...until we decided to leave, and hadn't purchased anything. Then the one woman turned cold and mean. It was actually hurtful -- she made a sarcastic comment about the "pull" sign on the door when I was trying to open it. Too bad, as my husband needed a hat and was considering coming back later. This shop not only had the bucket hats, the person from our group was looking for, but also had a wide array of hats from men's to women's and even to children's. Like other reviews the prices varies depending on the hat, but my group and I found that most hats were reasonably priced. Avoid this store. There are plenty of great hat stores in Nola but not this one. Staff is rude and condescending. When we returned a hat they wanted to charge us an extra $10 for the box since it is "only $5 with hat purchases." Seemed petty since I had bought two hats on another receipt the day before. It's a small shop with big ideas on hats. They have some awesome steampunk designed hats in here. They have large hats and little tiny hats for the ladies. Plenty of variety in size and style. In the same location Shushan's once was, Chapel is mostly dedicated to hats now. They have a very large selection of ladies hats, a bit of steampunk and a a large assortment of Bailey's packable fedoras. An interesting alternative to Goorin's, it's a worthwhile stop especially when the sun is beating down on your head. read more
