Over the yrars, my circumstances have given me the ability to visit over eight local barber shops and none of them compare with the compliments I receive when my hair is cut by this establishment. Drew is one of the finest barbers in Chapel Hill. If you are wondering about the quality of his work, just try and get an appointment. It's easier to get a reservation for dinner at the Angus Barn during the Christmas season than it is to get an appointment with Drew. His calendar "opens" one day at a time, five weeks in advance. If you miss the slots for that day, try again tomorrow. He is that busy because he's that good. No, he's not cheap so people don't flock there for the low prices. They go there because you get a great haircut at a price that you're willing to pay for a great haircut. read more

I'm a bit conflicted. I like this barbershop and I used to go here exclusively at the old location but prices kept climbing. It's now $24! My boys and I have fairly simple hairstyles so $75 is a lot But there is a serious dearth of mid- price quality barbershops that can do straight hair with clippers in Chapel Hill since Menscuts closed. I'm a cheapo but not a super cheapo. At this price point, I might try other places with less wait time. Also I gather appointments that are an extra cost. That being said, if you have the time and money and want a good cut with friendly service, this place fits your bill. read more

Great haircut -- best one in Chapel Hill. If I had a spare two hours every time I needed a cut, I would always come here. However, I have been here four times now and never waited fewer than NINETY minutes. There is never more than two barbers in a four-chair shop. There is no waiting list, which always leads to confusion. A few slight changes to the way management runs the shop could make this a fantastic place to get a cut, but until then, not worth the hassle. read more

A great, old-school, friendly neighborhood barber shop. Only thing missing is the straight-razor finish at the end, but all-in-all, it's arguably the best place in town to get a basic hair cut. Good location, good prices, and excellent work. The only downside is that there's often a long wait to get a haircut, so try to go early in the AM or during odd hours to avoid the crowd. read more

Good old fashioned barber shop. I walked in, without an appointment, and got a my hair cut. It was $20 for a buzz cut.

Couldn't do a flat top haircut. Thought that was a standard cut. You just lost a customer.

I found this barber shop right here on Yelp and decided to try it out. It's located on the backside of some other businesses so you definitely have to seek it out but it's well worth it. It's like stepping into a time machine to go back to the 1950s and walk into a barber shop that was more about a gentlemanly experience vs over hyped atmosphere, free drinks and various other glam. There are only three chairs and the day I went only 2 barbers (a father and son I think). It's walk ins only and there was a 2 person wait ahead of me so keep that in mind. Also, it's cash only ($18) but there is a small ATM in the shop itself (with a $3 service fee unfortunately). The quality of my hair cut was great and the conversation was light and friendly. As I mentioned, don't expect a high end salon experience, this is a simple barber shop that puts substance over style and glamour. This is a great place to stop in for a hair cut and I plan to do so again. read more

Easily the worst haircut of my life. STAY AWAY!!! I'm new to Chapel Hill and thought I'd give here a try, since it was the closest to campus, and I didn't feel like trying the roulette wheel of GreatClips-- despite this place being several dollars more expensive. I sat down in the chair and thought it was funny that they faced all their clients towards the windows instead of facing the mirror to monitor the cut in progress. Also, I had to breath through my mouth the whole time because my barber's hands smelled pungently of tobacco. But I'm a results guy, not a process guy, so I was willing to wait for the end result. In the final "reveal" as he turned me around, I had to hold in a shriek. It was horrible. I had even brought in a picture of my previous haircut to show him EXACTLY how I wanted it cut, but instead he decided to go in a completely different direction. It looked terrible all over, but WORST OF ALL he decided to completely buzz about 1.5 inches around the sides and back of my head. I paid and walked out, but in hindsight I shouldn't have even paid anything. Now not only do I have a terrible haircut that resembles nothing close to what I showed him 15 minutes before, but I have to wait 3 months for it to remotely grow back and look good since he decided to take creative liberties. If he had checked in with me halfway through or if I had even been able to see what he was doing in the mirror I would have told him to stop right there. I will NEVER be going there again, and I will pass along this message to everyone who inquires. If I could upload pictures of this disaster I would. Also, they don't accept anything but cash, so if you enjoy the 21st century there's one more strike against them. Ugh, Im so disgusted right now. Go anywhere else but here. read more
