It was my first time visiting this location as I had ordered some stuff online and one of the items was only in stock here. The store is very big, very spacious and gave a very cozy, relaxing vibe. I like the whole layout and decor. Besides from books, they also sell other stuff like clothing, accessories hats and mittens, gift wrap, cards, puzzles etc. There's a Starbucks connected to it which is great, very convenient if you wanted to grab a drink or a bite. I used to visit this Chapters indigo often when I visited Ajax every other weekend. I'm surprised that I have not got around to doing a review until now! Things have changed a bit since my last visit. The washrooms have been renovated and are a definite improvement from the past! Each store tends to have a technology section these days. I like looking at the fitness trackers and Kobo readers. I have two of each, so it takes great willpower to not buy anything! Naturally, I am pleased to visit Starbucks. Seats are taken whenever I am there, so I tend to carry my drink around as I browse. I bought a cute Mr. Men / Little Miss nail book. It brings back great childhood memories. It is also a practical book on doing my nails! It was on sale for $5. I saved $10. You can get free WiFi when you are there. I wasn't there long enough the last time I was there to do any browsing. The cashier cashing my out was friendly and cheerful. I liked the Yummy World taco pillows at the counter. She advised that their eyes were different. I checked them out and she was correct! Bought a journal, manga, light novel, and a novel yesterday. I was charged GST 5% "AND" HST 13%, which is a fault as GST 5% and PST 8% are added together or "harmonized" to create 5% + 8% = HST 13% (Harmonized sales tax). I was charged an unjust extra 5% to my total. Almost perfect experience aside from the following employees at every corner of an isle, is far from being helpful and in turn rather distracting. Employees not wearing masks and wearing masks, brings a much needed sense of belonging and acceptance, to a current time that's apparent on dividing, and correcting. A wonderful environment that shows the smallest things do matter. To the right of store Starbucks is open concept, as there are no doors to enter, from inside, (Entrance and exit doors located in the middle and to the right) and the scent of caffeine and sweets passing specifically into the magazine and baby section is genius. The smell of caffeine can have a placebo effect on people, enough to be alert and responsive. Thus a magazine section full of trends, in the now, and relevant times, would aid in cramming a 20 page mag, or even a 300 page mag. And families with a baby probably need the added boost of energy a cafe brings, to spend another exhausting thought of what to buy for them. Really homey environment that seems to still have their original sign since the late 90s. As 1995 was when the first Chapters book store was built, before they were bought by Indigo (with financial help from Onex Corporation) in 2001, which was their largest competitor at the time. Chapters and Indigo merged to be the largest book retailer in Canada. It's nice that they operate with a Chapters banner, bringing a sense of nostalgia to those who were present at the times it was built. 3/5 Only 2 downsides, the annoying "helicopter" sibling's watching your every move like you're stealing for some employees, and the extra 5% they stole from my total purchase. read more

Whenever I am out this way I usually pop in to browse. I think I like this location the best because it's never crowded and I can usually find what I want here - no disappointment about things being sold out. I find this location also has one of the bigger selection of bargain books. How can you go wrong with book for under $10?! Over the years Chapters has really expanded and offers way more than reading material for your bathroom! Home decor (picture frames, knick knacks, candles); glassware; perfumes/soaps; jewelry and accessories- the lust goes on! This is one location where I've also seen them carry the Honor brand - the Jessica Alba brand of products. The staff are always friendly- asking me if they can help me and just by being on the floor. A good sized branch of Chapters, seemingly larger than its counterpart in the Oshawa Mall. Which means it often has more stock, particularly specific items that aren't carried elsewhere. The toy section is also notably larger. As with all other Chapters I've been in, the staff are helpful and will readily order in any book that they don't have in stock. read more

A location not in a mall! Yes! Very open with high ceilings and different levels. The gift section is very large; larger than the Starbucks! The selection is great and so are the staff. They can find anything and they are knowledgeable about books; they don't just work there. It's also less crowded than Chapters found at malls. These are usually entrances to the mall, but at this location, they are actual customers; not just people walking through or getting coffee. read more

11/9 - I ordered a board game. 11/13 - I received a shipping notice for delivery on 12/6. 11/19 - I checked the package tracking just to see where it was in its journey. The tracking number was invalid. I emailed customer service to inquire. 11/22 - Jovanne in customer service emailed me that the package had been lost and asked if I wanted a replacement or a refund. I asked for a replacement on Nov 22. Later on Nov 22, I received another email from Jumaine in customer service that said someone in order support would contact me in 3-5 business days. There was no acknowledgement of my request for a replacement game. 11/23 - I replied to Jumaine stating that I had already requested a replacement. No response. 11/26 - I replied to the same email asking for a status since I had heard from no one. No response. 11/28 - I asked for a refund as I had since ordered the board game from a different vendor. No response to my request for a refund. 11/29 - I used the live chat feature to talk to Tyrese. I provided all the above information. Chat transcript with Tyrese: Thanks so much for holding. This is one of my favorite Chapters locations. Love going here during my break, grabbing a coffee and checking out books. The staff is friendly and always smiling. I have never walked into this place and 'not' been able to find what I came for. Above and beyond books and magazines, they have a wonderful selection of 'other stuff', especially journals. A great place for gift ideas... just have a wander around and let this place inspire you. And as with most Chapters I've been to, the staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. read more

Very comfortable place to shop. I like having the chairs and benches to sit down to peruse a stack of books to decide on purchases. A good selection of specialty-topic books and diverse magazines available here, too. I also love the Clearance shelves. If you're looking for a gift, there are bags and wrap available as well as giftables which aren't books for those who love decor or gourmet foods. The best spot is the attached Starbucks. Post-purchase you can curl up with a latte and read away an afternoon. read more
