You know what makes a good little book store? Selection and a great staff and those are two things Doug Miller books just so happens to have. My wife and I wandered into this store yesterday afternoon while taking a walk down Bloor. This store is PACKED from the front to the back and while that might overwhelm some people, I absolutely love being surrounded by thousands of books and the smell that comes with that. I spent a good thirty minutes digging through horror, Canadian history, poetry, and everything else before finally landing on something to read on the flight back home. The gentleman working was also great and definitely the kind of person I want to interact with while book shopping (I also support anyone going to see Napalm Death and Primitive Man). Overall, Doug Miller books is a must stop for any reader out book hunting. The selection was fantastic, the store was cozy, and the staff was fantastic. I'll definitely be back in the future! read more

Quaint neighbourhood bookshop that features a not-insignificant selection of sci-fi, fantasy, and fiction. It's tight in here, so lover of carbs are advised to be careful while traversing their thin book-filled aisles. This place is positively loaded with tomes old and new. Some key finds include old-school volumes of Nancy Drew books and some brand new Asterix the Gaul and Tin Tin. They do have some non-fiction picks, but I think this is primarly a store for story seeking geeks. I spotted quite a few bound comic books and graphic novels too. The prices seemed pretty fair as well. Put down that donut and pay them a visit. Obligatory Title Pun: I DOUG it. Menu Readability: Great sign out front, but all the signage in the store is way, way too high. Need to mention: They have a store rabbit named Bumpkin. He had a lot of heart. I've been looking to off-load a few books so thought I would pop in here to see what they were like. It's floor-to-ceiling shelves, and piles, and stacks of fiction with some cook books thrown in for good measure. This place is so packed that you couldn't even tell where the cashier was until he said hello. Most of my books are business related so it was a no-go for me here. Used bookstore in Korea-town. Perfect for if I am too lazy to walk another few blocks into the Annex. This place is affiliated with "Seekers" bookstore in the Annex. I heard the owner mention they had to open up a second location as they didn't have enough room. They seem to carry primarily Fantasy & Science Fiction, Mystery, Current Fiction plus a lot of children's and young adult books. Really good place to pick up used Fantasy/Sci-fi - the selection was huge. The shop is quite tiny and it's absolutely rammed with books. Each aisle is so narrow that it's difficult to squeeze by another customer or see the top/bottom shelves. Looks like this should be improved once they are finished unpacking and organizing more books. Friendly owner. Good prices. Caged rabbit. Not bad! read more

Great selection of fantasy and graphic novels. I'm sure you can find whatever you're looking for here, but those just pertain to my personal interests. Doug himself is just a joy to interact with. He's always so friendly and helpful. Even if the book you aren't looking for is not in stock, he'll recommend other places where you'd find them at great prices as well. Ever since I moved into this neighbourhood 8 years ago, Doug Miller Books has been one of my favourite shops to frequent. They just recently moved across the street to a bigger store and its fantastic! He has an amazing collection of fiction, comics, manga and children's books. When speaking to him he told me that he actually has a lot of rare books as well. On the rare occasion that I haven't found I book I was looking for, Doug actually offered to order it for me and then phone me when he had it in stock. 100% recommend this place just for the experience of being in a cozy shop crammed with books. I didn't buy anything (my friends did) but the man behind the counter was still totally pleasant and chatty, even in the tiny, cramped space. We had a nice conversation about museums, and boy did he know his stuff. Great selection, reasonable prices, and a bunny? Worth a browse, for sure. read more

So, this is the first time I've been there and i want to go again. Basically this store has a cool, non-judgmental vibe, that welcomes me as much as the owner. The owner knows his stuff about books, my friend is a book lover (she has a large amount of books in storage and is attain more as we speak) and she can only aspire to be as much as a bookie as him. He has books all over the place, he ahs books in storage (multiple places), he has a 15year pet rabbit, and is just overall cool. I got the book i wanted today, no hassle and surprisingly cheap, in near mint condition. The book's movie is just about to come out in theaters, so every time I look for the paperback edition, all is see is the actors pretty faces. Now, don't get me wrong they're pretty. But, I want the original cover that reflects about the books main plot and had the producers think that the cover was so great that they decided to mass produce a bunch of merchandise off of it. And I went in saw it in the front glass display and said "I wonder if he has anymore copies of this one, I've been looking for it.". He without prompt, gives me the one from the front area, is like "Hey, it's also amazing cheap.", and later explains to me why the actors faces have be on the books when the movies come it. Then my friend mumbles to herself that maybe they have the book she been looking for because it cost alot at her regular store and she can't seem to find it. And like the book magician he is, goes into his little fountain of books at the front of his desk, pulls out THE book and gives to her. It's used, but in amazing condition. We pay, leave with similes in our hearts, and now i decided to write a view. Stop in. This place is awesome. P.S.: THERE'S SHELVES OF JUST MARVEL/DC COMICS, AND SOME ARCHIE BOXES. FUN~ read more

At a comic book store you pay a arm and a leg. Here it's Half of the price or even cheaper. Great staff that while go out of their way help you search for what your looking for. Rows of gently used books line the store from floor to ceiling. Many great selections appealed to me as soon as I walked in. There is a relaxed and open atmosphere, (as another yelper Ajay describe best: "a cool, non-judgmental vibe"), much like the owner. Also, he and his son built the awesome lego structures found around the store- the lego counter is a masterpiece. It was a pleasure coming in and I am not kidding when I say I already want to go back to find more great books! The employee was quite helpful and patient with my 1001 book requests. It was just my luck today that as I came in, a short while afterwards the owner came in and whipped out one of the books I was looking for like Houdini. What a gem of an independent store. Abound not cluttered, smells of books not dust....this store has new and gently enjoyed books with enough selection that you don't feel overwhelmed. I bought three children's books but could've bought myself a shelf full of Marvel books. Alas, I have a plane to board and cannot bring it all back with me. Doug is knowledgable and passionate about his business and neither stuffy nor pushy. Toronto has many must-visit stops for me. I just added another one to my list. Great business Doug! A typical used bookstore - stuffed (well, overstuffed, really) with books. Some cheap $1 books but others are only about half what you'd pay new (the ones I was looking at anyway). But not a good place to frequent if you think bicycling infrastructure is important for Toronto. The owner is actively against the Bloor St. bicycle lanes, including through interviews in the media and signs in the store. Hard to support a shop that takes such retrograde position. read more

I love this bookshop. The owner is friendly and very knowledgable, especially about children's books. For no obvious reason, there is also a rabbit in a cage, which can be a source of fascination for a bored child. There is a huge eclectic collections of books at excellent prices. The one dollar rack outside the door always makes me stop and look. I've been finding bargains here since the place opened. As well as the huge selection of books, there's some lego stuff too. Can't recommend it highly enough, a great place to spend an hour browsing before you make your purchase(s), or don't. No pressure from the owner, I've been here lots of times without purchasing, he's always pleasant, never been pushy. read more

This bookstore has really good new & good condition used books. I find lot of beautiful picture books here. The comics are also cheaper than other bookstores. The place is quite small so you may find it a little bit inconvenient to move around but the more time you spend there, the more valuable books you will find. read more

Terrific little bookstore. It is small, but the space is used well. A good selection of fiction and non-fiction, with a particularly good selection of children's novels and graphic novels. A nice dollar table outside. The staff are helpful but not intrusive if you just want to browse for a bit. They will keep an eye out for books you want. A great place in the neighbourhood.
