We just parked at the back and walked around. The book we were getting signed was displayed right after walking in. There was confusion which way the line was going to pay though. The line when straight back but then it hit a book shelf and people lined up on either side of it. For busy times, it would be great to know where to stand. The layout isn't ideal with the shelves forming a V instead of horizontal lines. Even though the layout isn't great, the store is big and has lots of selection. They had children activities going on and it was great to see staff there and families doing crafts. The book signing line was along the wall by the Starbucks. People would cross to access the magazine area but it wasn't a major inconvenience for everyone. The staff were good to make sure we paid for our book and asked for our names for the book to be personalized. Someone offered to take our photo with the author which was a nice touch. I didn't browse much but did see to the side of the cash area is the stationary and gift area. A great addition to the strip mall but not a place I would frequent on busy weekends.

We went to purchase a pokemon lego item that was in the box that said $3, there were multiple. There were at least 10 - 12 in the box. There was no acknowledgement just telling us it would be full price and asking if we wanted it. It was tagged at a certain price it should have been adjusted as the scanning code of practice states. When i said that i was ignored and asked if there would be anything else. When I said it should be the price it is tagged at, they rang my son through and I was told to have a good day. That is not right. It was tagged at a certain price with multiple of the same item in the box. If that is how Indigo operates I will not shop here any more.

Chapters is the Canadian bookstore chain most similar to Barnes and Noble or Borders. This Chapters is tucked away within Sherwood Park and seems to be popular with locals and those of us here on business looking for a place to hang out during our free time. The book selection is decent and the magazine section is generous. There's also a coffee shop attached and a good selection of stationary, journals, and gifts.

I've been to Audreys for 2 local author book releases... I love the fact they support local authors. Encouraging them to host book signings and book releases at the store and encouraging patrons to purchase local books. I've also called the store asking about what to buy for a niece, unsure about her age group and they made a suggestion, put it at the front so all I needed to do was run in and make the purchase. They are amazing, friendly and accommodating.

That said, while doing holiday shopping this year, I needed to visit a much larger Chapters location to find everything that I was looking for. Still, they're part of the same large company, so there's that! It seems to me that some care is paid to what items end up on the end displays and what books are talked up by bookstore employees which is something that is important in bookstores regardless of whether they are small independents or chain locations.

I have to give them props for allowing me to return a book after the 14-day time limit, albeit via store credit. It is a great policy that they allow full refunds on books within 14 days. I don't think Chapters does that, if I remember correctly. That store credit allowed me to offload the book club book I never got around to reading, and pick up Bossy Pants instead. Win!

There isn't as much selection, but there's still little delights to grab for stocking stuffers and cute little gifts. There's the ever present mini books, but I really liked the environmental conscious 'Grow Me Money Plant' as well as other plants and flowers in a cube. Need stocking stuffers for the man who hates everything? I picked up a little contraption for the husband. You push buttons, and it gives various sound effects. There was another type available, but it only made increasingly obnoxious farting sounds. Maybe I should get him that one too. Score of the day was the $25.00 'Starfinder--The Complete Beginner's Guide to Exploring the Night Sky.' It came with it's own planisphere disk. I'm sure I'll be back again before Christmas.

The store was a happenin' place to be since the place was packed with shoppers. I really don't like to shop so I'm a list maker. I go in, get what I want and get out. I had a list of four books to locate before I had a panic attack. James, a Coles employee, was my hero. He located three out of the four books on my list... I was able to find the last one on my own using the computer for directions. The staff was great and I would totally go back to do my book shopping and I suggest you do the same.

I posted a request for a bird book (Birds of Alberta). I had been looking for since mine had gone missing some time ago. Well what do you know - a few weeks later, they CALLED ME and let me know that they had the book I requested on hold and waiting for me. They have fabulous hours, great staff, and prices are really good too. I parked right out front, but because it was a Friday night at 10:30pm when I went to pick up, they offered to walk me to my car... it's Whyte Avenue, and later on it can be a bit... well, uncomfortable for women alone. Who DOES that anymore?! I REALLY appreciated the offer and concern for my well- being. I love coming in here to browse - and I admit, in the past couple of years of pandemic, I haven't spent any time in any business. At that time of night, and with fewer crowds on a Friday night, I might just have to come and browse again soon. I will definitely be requesting other books online - what an efficient way to shop!

This is MacEwan's largest bookstore, and it's located at the downtown campus. It's a very nice…read morestore, and they sell a variety of items like textbooks, novels, clothing, stationary, ipods, computers, and gift items. The computers and other Apple items are discounted for student, so that is cool. In my first year, I was naive enough to think that the College bookstore would offer the best possible prices on textbooks, but I was way wrong. I later discovered Amazon.ca, where I got many textbooks and novels for a lot cheaper. MacEwan's bookstore also sells used textbooks, and this is a good option, but I've often found the brand new versions on Amazon for the same price. The bookstore will also buy your books back at beginning of each semester, but they give you so little back, it's almost not worth it at all. I'd suggest trying to sell it to a student directly using the Used Textbook Registry. Most of the gift items at MacEwan's bookstore are pretty expensive, but they will often have sales. I've found some nice stuff though, like I bought my friend an eyeglass cleaning cloth that had a picture of a famous painting on it: very cool. I've b ought quite a few MacEwan brand items, like a keychain, a mug, and a shoulder bag. I guess I just want lots of things to remind me that I did indeed go to College.

They also have a great selection of school supplies, MacEwan clothing, mugs, ipods etc. They also have some really beautiful journals, stationary and pens. My one complaint about this store is the staff. I have found that they are not very helpful or knowledgeable and that can be very frustrating when you are a student, frantically looking for a certain textbook. I have been told by a staff member that they have a book, and then found out they didn't have it, and the opposite has also happened. Like the other reviewer said, you can save a lot of money by buying texts and novels on Amazon. Just be prepared to wait and then spend a good chunk of time catching up on the readings you missed while you were waiting for your books to be shipped.
